if you broke a rule in the past and staff said it was ok after apologizing and begging and stuff are you now in trouble or not because it already was dealt with ?

Hi there Noobstown

I had a slight concern about the clarity in section e in the updated rules.  This pertains to swearing.  I have taken a direct quote for the new rules post. It is:

Profanity is strictly banned, we have a language filter to block out any swearing; however trying to     bypass this filter, by either substituting letters/words or using abbreviations (and so forth) is also against the rules.

I have highlighted the word "words" because this is the source of my topic.  I completely understand swearing to be unacceptable.  I also understand abbreviations and such are unacceptable (replacing letters and other forms).  However replacing a non-swear word for a swear word is not swearing.  The act of swearing is to deliberately communicate a specific word to express one's emotion, but the main idea is a specific word.  I do not believe using the word "strawberry" in the place of a 4 letter swear word to be bad.  Infact it is a mechanism often used to cure little ones of a potty-mouth.

Having said this, I may have taken section e in the rules out of context.  It just did not seem totally clear to me.  I also want to add that I comply with and understand the final ruling on this matter is that of the staff (not trying to step on any toes).  I also understand that some of these rules may be situational. For the most part, I am simply voicing my concern.

It's just stating that instead of using a swear word you use something that sounds familiar in place of it, if that makes sense. I've seen people do this. Instead of saying a swear word they replace it with something that gives off the same meaning or meaning. Although it's not swearing, I (personally) don't see where it's necessary (to replace the word with a non-swear word) and maybe that's what the rule is trying to get across. I hope maybe this has answered some questions for you.

So using the expletive from Battlestar Galactica, "Fr*k" would also be banned?

Swearing in a chat is a strange phenomena if you think of it.
In real life, a swear word may escape your mouth in the heat of the moment.
In a chat you need to type it in, even the four letter words take longer then to recover from your initial reaction........
Typing in a swear word is always 'after the fact', as far as I am concerned, and therefore completely unnecessary.
Whether it be an actual swearword or some replacement, its not the initial reaction to an emotion, its just a cry for attention.
People that type in swear words only do so to provoke a reaction like 'what happened' so that they can tell their sad story.
It should be easy to refrain from swearing in chats, its should even be easier to refrain from using substitution swear words,
just tell us your story without swearing, the good thing about a console chat is that you can always convince yourself that somebody is actually reading all the rubbish you are writing.
