Here we go again, Apoc needs help.

Alright, this is gonna be frank. You have people who miss Apoc and when you told me last summer that it was being transfered and you needed time and everything I believed you and gave you a chance, however there has been ZERO change since then and before then (which is over 6 months). So I come here, again, to ask when are you gonna hold up your end of the bargain? Don't tell me "we're working on it" cause if you were it would be done by now, looking back at all the work that's been put into Apoc I know you could've had this done awhile ago, But its becoming pretty clear that you guys either don't care about your Apoc people anymore, or you're to lazy. Remember back in the day when there was a community on Apoc? when everyone knew each other? Cause I, along with many others, do. We're ready to come back but Apoc is broken, because of FF and other broken raids and dungeons so yes it got stale. People left, alot of people, people I call friends because of Apoc, Because of YOU the staff created the wonderful server. It's all gone though, the fun times with friends, the ability to just hop onto the server and say "hey" and boom your in the conversation, running with friends to go kill the new boss. Now its 0-4 people on at a time, and its silent. No one talks anymore, Its gone. It's funny really, that some of us still have hope that maybe, just maybe it'll all work out in the end. But to do that we have to trust the staff, and I don't think I can anymore, you've failed to many times. Made to many empty promises. I'm done caring if this is "noobstown" forums, i'd post it on Apoc but much to my "disbelief" the forums are still. Not. There. Shocker. This message is for the following, Apoc Admins not noobs admins or staff

It was announced a few months ago that Apoc would be merging with Noobscraft. Foob just doesn't simply have the time to take care of two servers and instead of getting rid of Apoc completely it will be brought to Noobscraft. The admins are great people and Foob, in his last year of university is busy, as he is a lot of the time. He has come to the realization that he can't keep two separate servers running anymore so to make it easier on him this was his solution.

P.S. Apoc admins and Noobs admins are the same. Itslawrence and Foob

you can read more about the announcement on Apocs website and a few things have been discussed

That's going to take some time. It won't happen overnight. There's a lot that they're both working on at this time and there's a lot to transfer over. I don't know what you were told last summer but this information wasn't released until a few months ago so I think you're confusing what you heart with what was released as information a few months ago.

Oh believe me, I know this world does not work on an "overnight" basis, In my previous post an Admin responded with the information about the transfer, that was last summer. I've know about the transfer alot longer than september-to now.

Well you'll most likely get the same answer. Wait for a few days or so and Itslawrence will most likely see this and give a more thorough detailed explanation. I'm sorry for the issues apoc is going through but I have faith it'll all work out for everyone in due time.

This may not be the place where I would comment on something but I might as well. Foob and Lawrence are working on several different projects right now. The server merge is one of their priorities but the merge is more easily said than done. Trust the admins, they're great guys. Its harder for them since they recently lost an admin but they will pull through and do their best to make both communities happy. Have faith in them :)

Its easy to take something as relatively simple, or a small project which can just escalate into something massively time consuming.
I underwent that myself together with Foob when working on v6, then add real life responsibilities.
All I can say is to just be as patient as you can and maybe join up Noobstown as it is now, or play another game to make the wait less frustrating.

I'm just giving my opinion as a person, not as an admin (anymore)

At the outset, I must confess that I'm unsure what the purpose or intention of this post is, it seems to be conducted in a way that is antagonistic in terms of its criticism and gives no constructive or solutions to criticisms. Albeit, you give a very small amount of praise, it does not offer any solutions. In this post I am not intending to create acidic argument but merely critiquing your criticism and offering a better approach to use.

You start off in a hostile manner demanding the Admins to ‘hold up’ their end of the bargain and follow on by saying don’t tell me “we’re working on it” cause if you were it would be done by now. This will not have the effect you may wish for; often demands aren’t given into due to the hostile tone usually used, exemplified by you here. You go on to say that either you don’t care about the Apocalypse players or you are lazy. This is a false dichotomy, it isn’t the case that the Admins are either of these. It is rather the lack of time available, which is scant for two reasons:

i. Foob, in his last year of university is completing many projects that will affect his future career choices, which, in my opinion, has to take precedence over all else – as this is a lifelong decision.
ii. Lawrence, as we may or may not know, is in full time employment and as you might surmise, this takes up a lot of his time.

I propose that you understand this in this way, rather than leaping great lengths to justify such accusations as you have, making assumptions and presumptions without much thought, I believe that you should take into account that these types of criticism can very much affect motivation, as admins are human beings after all and reflect this in your discourse.

I would also suggest that you take these criticisms directly to a member of staff and not on a public forum that has the occasion to promote bitter argument and abuse – which is something avoidable. I would also say that you should lay out your criticism in a systematic way that offers an alternative and suggests something worthwhile working toward, rather than demanding for something and criticizing, which is demotivating and harsh.

Further, you should show an understanding and compassion toward the Admins, they will more likely listen to what you are saying, rather than if you are demanding, I’m sure you can relate to this in your own experiences.

Indeed, you should use language that does not attack but that which highlights the gravity of a problem but also shows a glimmer of hope and something that is positive that can move forward the state of affairs. Most of all, you should have patience with these large scale projects that don’t happen overnight; as you said yourself, you understand that the world doesn’t work on an overnight basis, I think, therefore, that you should reflect this in your discourse.

Yes, college is time consuming, Yes life happens, But there is also the possibility of hiring new admins, maybe apoc "only" dedicated admins that will ensure that apoc gets transfered over and when/if it does then they'd focus on the Apoc half of the server. cause there is alot of time in a year, and only a fraction of that is needed to transfer a server if the transferer is dedicated enough,

I will put in one comment that will dissolve your last comment, and very hopefully cap off this whole thing. They are not actually transferring the apoc world over to Noobstown. Lets get that staright. They are most likely making a new world for the 'Noobstown Dungeons' project, as well as fixing and polishing plugins, quests, kits, etc. all of which take up a lot of time. Trust me, if it's taken this long to create, it's gotta be good. Its better to wait long and have something that will last a while than to wait a couple weeks and end up with a half-effort, buggy thing, where the only outcome is outrage from the former Apoc community.

Quote from the mineapoc website seems appropriate (mineapoc.com):
"Please do understand that this project is going to take some time, and for the meantime we will continue to keep the current version of Apocalypse up and online despite not reaching our donation goals"
They have warned here that it will take some time, plus when you have a full time job/are at university studying you don't have much free time as both are incredibly hard work, and the fact that the admin team are giving up their free time they have to maintain noobstown with events, etc and work upon the server merge is amazing but also a lot of hard work which we should appreciate :)
Plus as with most things, Good things take time and personally I would rather have an immersive, high quality noobstown dungeons and wait than a rushed one put together in very little time.

It has taken over a year and the dedication should be better. The negligence the community has received is ludicrous. Deliver on the promise soon because you are losing money and faith.  This displeases a lot of people especially considering your absolute failure to maintain quality content and creating a mistrust between the player base.  But I guess if you like silence and chirping noises from the crickets while you punch mobs with broken textures... Good Flacking Job

Hi guys,

Just to clear up some confusion - Yes, we are working on a new system for Apocalypse but as it has been said multiple times this isn't going to happen anytime soon, I announced the closure of Apocalypse because I don't have the time to run two servers, I'm not giving up on that community but rather moving them here. If you want to play Noobstown in the meantime, you are all welcome to but if you don't then that's your choice.

The Dungeons system will come in 2016, but it's a big game mode project that we're working on along side a lot of other things for the server (which have been planned before this was announced) we have a long to-do list and are working through this as best we can, given the time we have. Both Admins are not 16 years old like when we first started these servers, we're at a stage in our lives where we are leaving University or starting jobs, it's difficult to manage free/hobby time to maintaining and keeping these projects alive and entertaining (despite as much as we try, we'll never have the time of a 16 year old again) and I can only apologize for this. We're looking to hire more staff, we are always looking for people who can help us but people coding and creating systems have to have a high degree of trust and expertise and that's not something that is readily available, or free.

Simply put: Dungeons/The Apoc system is coming to Noobstown, it'll be ready when it's ready and if you can't stick around for that I suggest you go elsewhere as complaining and making hate fueled threads like this doesn't contribute anything to making the system come faster and will most likely cause you to be banned before the system launches.
