I have seen a lack of English and Scandinavian moderators, I don't know why their are none cause at the time 16:00 to 18:00 (GMT+ 6) their is normally not any mods on (Lickster is on from time to time but not very often)
I do not say this cause I am Scandinavian and would love to be moderator, No, I am saying this cause at this time their has been happenings like mass spamming or just mainly breaking the rules :/
If you support my meaning of adding more English and Scandinavian moderators reply below, Thank you :)
-
I do agree with you, whenever I get in from school and have a check around there are normally just some issues that only staff can resolve and there are never and moderators online until around 5pm GMT. :/

Good that someone agrees then :-)

Miner, i agree with you, how-ever this has been brought up a few times and nothing has been done so-far.
a few weeks ago when we had the spammers problem, i spoke to ineed, he agreed with me that there should be an Australian/pacific moderator, but nothing has been done, all of the moderators are either from America or the UK.
I have spoken to some other moderators (Geo mainly agrees with me) and they are bringing up the issue and trying to resolve it, but in the past nothing has been done so far.
The key link in the moderator grid is the pacific times, the American mods are not online, the exception is tidalmewmew; who is up until like 5AM her time and licksterboy, who is the same (i'm pretty sure).
I say we wait abit for a decision to be resolved.
and i know this is not any of my bussiness, but for any mods that do read this, Ineed especially, when you go to choose a new moderator, do not chose one from America, we have enough moderators from there.
-
Good that you bring this up Master cause it must be fixed :/

Personally I think the metaphorical scale is unbalanced in terms of our staff team. I am the only European moderator, while the rest of the moderators including our head moderator are from the USA and surrounding areas. We are in dire need of a moderator from the Australian timezone as when the American mods go to their beds, there is no one online to help people (Considering I'm from Europe and I go off before the American moderators.) Our administrators are British but Long_Cat isn't on much and Fatnoob and Itslawrence are usually very busy. The additional help from Waterworth does help lighten the load of individual strain I recieve from handling the players alone in my Timezone. So an Australian timezoned moderator would be a good priority. We used to have an Australian moderator named Ringburn but he left in V3, (Last summer) and we are long past due a new moderator from his timezone. I fully support this.

Yeah, geo gets what i'm sayin

I know this sort of thing shouldn't be the main part of moderator lives but what about taking shifts. If let's say tidal come on at like 1am then at 4am lickster comes on. Maybe something like that would help although it can majorly affect a moderators personal life.

I agree with the statements that ask for a moderator from the western pacific areas, especially Australia/NewZealand because I don`t think that one of the players from Asia is actually applying for mod; but an Aussie would be fine for Asia as well as it is in the same timezones).
It`s not only about the pacific timezones but also a little bit about recognizing all the players from the pacific region to have them and their mentality somehow represented in the stafflist.
For an additional mod from Europe I would actually suggest one who is speaking Dutch (mods also have to monitor the chats after all). There already are a British mod and admins, but there seem to be a lot of Dutch people on the server.
-
One big problem in this is that the admins don't want to make someone mod they don't really know or trust. If they're not on as much in that timezone then of course they don't know many people in said timezone, therefore the people they can choose from in the timezone are very limited and they may not trust anyone they know to actually be a mod.
That's just my two cents though.
-
It`s not only about trust. You can trust someone with important tasks but still doubt that he/she is suitable as a mod.
Let`s assume you are involved in some dramas on the server (for example juvenile disputes with other players or in case you are a mayor disputes with other towns). Now combine that with the abillity to monitor other chats and messages... and imagine you are reading things about yourself or your town in other peoples private messages... I`m not sure if everyone can handle that correctly, especially not during puberty when emotions can easily boil over (unwanted).

Good that you are in for getting more mods from England, Scandinavia or Australia :)

Alba you of all the people on this server should know that you are only allowed to speak English in the chat so it is not need for any mods that speaks dutch really, they can speak it but not in the chat to other people cause all Moderators should speak ENGLISH ONLY IN CHAT
-
That is a wrong assumption. Myrf himself has said that the only reason you need to speak English is that the moderators cannot understand other languages and therefore they cannot moderate in that language. Myrf allowed at least one person to talk Spanish because he could understand it pretty well to know if they were doing anything.
If there are moderators that know Dutch, well then they can easily moderate if people know Dutch and speak it. Of course they could only speak it when that moderator is online, but still.

Hmm I have always thought it was a rule against speaking anything else then English but I was wrong :p

The rule of speaking English is there so we can understand and prevent things from happening on the server.

1. Why should I "of all the people know" that rule? I can`t remember ever getting in conflict with it.
2. "English only" is a rule that aplies for globalchat, it does not apply for other chats like local.* And mods are suppossed to monitor all chats. So it`s more about understanding dutch while monitoring the local chat and msg for scams, advertising etc. (during the european peaktimes). It`s not about using it in global by the moderator, although it may help non-native englishspeakers if they can describe problems to a mod via /msg or localchat in their own language. The same actually would apply for a mod that is speaking some the 4 scandinavian languages (of which at least 3 are also present on the server), but if you as a Scandinavian player don`t see the need for that, a dutch mod might suffice.
*Quoting the serverrules: "You're allowed to speak to each other in your own language via local chat or "/msg", but it's not allowed in the global chat room."
-
So bac onto the topic of moderators I think anyone on at those times will just have to deal, anything wrong you can report in the report section and if there are spammer /ignore them, it can be that simple. No need to push for another moderator, we already have tidal playing almost all day it seems so 1 moderator is usually on at least. If there isn't a mod on then people will just have to learn patience and wait for another mod to come on.
-
Well I'm from Scotland, which of course is the same timezone as England and I see Aj and Lickster on a lot. Geoboy66 has also come on-line a lot more lately, he stays on until later times which can be very beneficial. I think It's more Australian timezones that need staff. We also have an applicant and that is Masterbc.
-
Jay i promise you we need more then Australian Moderators, cause around 6am - 1pm in Norway their is rarely moderators on and that is when little Jayjay is sleeping :)
-
I don't sleep until around 2am on school nights and sometimes never on weekends. I was probably at school or doing something else.
I'm sure we need an Australian moderator more than any other because we have Joe, James, Geo and Matt who live in Britain.

We need 1 Australian and 1 Scandinavian more in my opinion :-)

First off all it is enough moderators on this server and second people do have a life you cant ask for mods to be on 24/7 Cause as is said mods also got a life and need to do something else then sit on their chair playing minecraft all day :L Also it do not has to be moderators on when something happens you can try to fix it yourself :)
We've had a couple of new Moderators chosen after this topic, but only now you want more? Weird, don't you think? :P

I don`t understand that, why exactly a scandinavian mod? The Netherlands, Poland, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, ... they are also in the same timezone. There shouldn`t be to many candidates from Scandinavia anyway, so the staff would have a lot more candidates to choose from if they included all european candidates.
Australia makes sense because there seem to be no other applicants in that timezone than Aussies so there are no other countries to mention. But Europe has plenty of applicants, why limit it to Scandinavia (or England).
-
Like I have said in other topics similar to this one, our head moderator has taken these time zone conflicts into consideration and will choose a moderator that will best benefit the server.

*Cough* Me *Cough* That was just a joke.. XD I would love to be Moderator tho :/ but asking wont get me anywhere :P

This is not true in the slightest, we once had this player called Kerean_Honeybell. Within her second week of joining the server she became a moderator.
Hmm I have always thought it was a rule against speaking anything else then English but I was wrong :p
You are correct. This rule is in place because the administrators are British and Britain is an English speaking country, if you want to speak fluent dutch and have conversations in dutch, please find a dutch server. If not, continue playing on this English speaking server.#
Oh and as for what Lickster said, Ineedaname - our head mod has told us that he has taken into consideration, timezones. Then he decided that TidalMewMew should be the new operator, I've nothing against Tidal and infact I'm glad she's on our team. But it doesn't make sense to add another American moderator. I do hope our next is from the Pacific timezone.
-
As previously mentioned by AlbatrosV5, there is indeed a pretty number of members that are from the Netherlands. Including me. But I do not think it would be necessary to have a dutch moderator. For I do not know anyone from Holland who can not speak basic english. Plus, that generally when the people from holland are online, from my experience, there are always UK based moderators or admins on who can service "us". So in my opinion dutch moderators are not needed.

If that is the case the following rule needs to be updated, it states that speaking your language is only forbidden in the global chats, but not in the other chats like /local or /msg.
http://www.noobscraft.com/server-announcements/server-rules/ (http://www.noobscraft.com/server-announcements/server-rules/)
5) SPAM / LANGUAGE
"As well as bad language, we also do not accept foreign languages in the server. Sure, you're allowed to speak to each other in your own language via local chat or "/msg", but it's not allowed in the global chat room."
Does this ruling that english has to be spoken everywhere also apply to signs you put up on your plot?

Well I have seen enough of what people think about the idea of adding a new mod in this timezone so I will just lock the topic thanks for voting above ;)
