Okay,okay,
I logged in, pulled up multiplayer, and there was a statement by Noobscraft saying "summer release-cough". Is this trying to tell us something? Or are you confirming my original prediction(made in Sept or so) of a summer release, Southern Hemisphere?
There was also a message saying "we are prepared, are you?" meaning any day now, I hope. Which is it...I'm soooo confused.

Well you just answer your question, in your question.... (sounds weird, i know.)
the original release needed to be in the summer, like week or 2 after the close of V5, but mojang made 1.7 update and they delay it....
now with all updates about the progress, the map, and how the plugins works, i am sure that they will release it very soon, probably even next week or two (but i don`t know for sure)...

Sunnycat is quite correct, we did originally intend a release for summer last year, but due to various complications, including but not limited to the 1.7 release, we have been delayed.
The comment you saw on saying 'summer release-cough' was a sarcastic/humorous comment, it doesn't mean v6 will be released this summer. :)
