So the server is down, and now's a good time to ask:
What's your favorite Texture pack and why?!
Personally, I've loved LB photo realism ever since I started minecraft, but due to skuttles not updating it, I've moved back to Misa's. The realistic blend she has on her stone, as well as the marble look of endstone and Obsidian sell the pack for me.
Enough about me, what about you?
-
McAllicraft! its a texture pack im making :D
(my last name is McAllister)
its not out yet, but it will be soon... hopefully :P
-
Ooo, very exciting! Be sure to post a link for everyone once you have it up and going.
-
i will! thanks for the motivation :P
-
LoafCraft texture pack love all the kitties. I don't think it is up to date atm though. I tried the Misa's one. Impressive, i'm gonna use that one for now. Good suggestions <3
-
Thank you, Fox Person :) Misa does exceptional work with her texture pack. Now if skuttles would update LB photo realism, we'd be in business.
-
I've been using Vlads classic Texture pack 2, I can't remember what it was called on Planet Minecraft but that was the file name. It's very nice to look at.
-
Vlad's eh? I'll have to see if I can locate that one and take a look at it.
-
Dokucraft(Custom), I used to use Misa's exactly because of the amazing look of the stone but I prefare Dokucraft. It is the only texture pack I use now, with the custom one you can choose what you want, like the painterly pack but this one sooooooo much better lol.
Yep Dokucraft custom for the win ;)
-
I've tried Dokucraft Light, Dark, and HIGH but didn't care too much for the cartoony look. And my endstone turned into fish eggs hehe. I'll have to have a look at Custom though and see if I like it more. I did like the door textures of the previous three.
-
Before 1.3 I was using Faithful 64x64. I really like that it wasn't too different from default. Using default right now and I must say, it's not too easy on the eyes.
-
smooth texture. because its smooth. its simple.

I don't really like the LB photo texture pack, and all the realism stuff, it hurts my eyes man lol.
-
I use HerrSommer 64/64 texture pack. Idk why, but I just love the look/feel
of this pack. I have realism/cartoonish packs...This one just seems best
for me. :)

I can understand the LB not being for everyone. It is a little intense on the eyes.

That it is! I've actually tried that one and use it on my laptop that's older than dirt.

I've looked at Faithful before, didn't care to much for the screenies, but it's worth taking a second look at.
Thanks for all the interesting and helpful feedback on the texture packs you like most! I have to say I've seen some very 'out there' ones, and Misa's still has to be my fall back. but keep throwing those ideas my way! Let's see what Texture pack you find to be the best and tell me why!
-
Misa64x64 - it looks good and it' s one of the few texturepacks not hosted on Mediafire so I can actually download it.
-
Sphax's texture pack is nice because it's pritteh and cartoon-y :3
-
Yeah i like sphax aswell because it comes in various resolutions like 64x64 and even 512x512 (which cant even be run on my computer). And also it works for alot of mods such as the technic pack etc.
-
Texture downgrader, a texturepack i made that undos ALL texture changes since 1.7 apart from new things of course, it also makes emerald ore look like green diamond.
Reason probably cause i hate the new gravel texture and the emerald ore pattern.
-
Basically my signature texture pack I HAVE to use is Coterie Craft. Coterie craft is the most simplistic texture pack.
Basically, every problem with the default texture pack is fixed with this new default texture pack.
I've used many other new default texture packs, and none compare to this one.
Clear glass, smooth looking wood (planks, cleaner signs, steps, torches, signs, chests, etc), obsidian, cobblestone, tilled dirt, dirt. All of those basically have an overall cleaner look and feel to it, and is easily playable, as I find the high definition packs hard to be practical in my opinion.

*A POOR EXAMPLE IS ATTACHED TO SHOW YOU (that is the best picture I had lol)
-
I like Dokucraft-High, but i am currently using oCd because my computer can handle the epicness :P
-
I use Sphax Pure BDCraft, why? Because I use it for Tekkit with the added Tekktit textures.
-
I use a personalized Painterly TP. I'm thinking of making my own but it seems too time consuming to go through all of it. Think I could? I'm no artist. :L If you think I should let me know. I will. I will even put it up on Mediafire for download if enough people think so. :L

Making a texture pack is a little time consuming, but once you get the main blocks like Dirt, Grass, Stone and Ores along with the Logs and Wood, you basicly have your own pack, but obviously with other default blocks, you can still release it on PlanetMinecraft for people to give you feedback on, you can then work on the other items lol.
I've made two half-texturepacks on my PlanerMinecraft account, Jayjay36, but they're really bad haha..
-
Painterly custom 16x16.
-
DEFAULT. Just plain default...Gets old...I used to use Pokecraft but I think it's still out dated.
-
my is strongestcraft made by eraya
its a xray (i only use for singlepllayer)
cuz no server allows so i wont use on servers

I know it is time consuming..
I don't have a Planet Minecraft account anyways.. :L
It would most likely take a few months? I'm not sure.

It can take you a week or two, just stick to your ideas and don't dither about. Plan it (what the theme is; basic/hd/medieval/modern etc.. Then you can take like an hour or two each day and you'd probably get 5 blocks/items+ a day.
