What's in your wilderness?
« on: 15 May 2018, 16:42:24 »
Heya folks,

As some of you already now, I've recently returned to noobstown and moved my wilderness home to a super secret lair...base...hideaway, whatever :).  I've decided to try my hand at building an airship and remaking the little town I had before.  What do you guys enjoy building?  What's in your wilderness?

I've got a giant face I'm building of myself, a tiny "mansion", the worst acrobatics area ever, and holes that I've been trying to dig oh yeah and some old shops I haven't bothered taking down.

I wish I could post screen shots but everytime I try the pic is too big (don't know how to resize it)... and everytime I try to post it on imgur it loads and loads... and loads...

PS. I like your signature

On opening day, I saddled up my pet bat and flew to a tiny island I'd scouted out on the livemap. It was much the same size, geography, and relative map location as my V5 home had been, which I'm sure was no coincidence. A 3x3 grid chunk claim locked it in as mine, and provided adequate room to plop down some chests and begin collecting money and resources to help get the town started. We proceeded to mine the subterranean space to bedrock, move the storage below ground, discover a tunnel leading to a skeleton spawner, and never actually got around to building anything above ground  :D  Maybe one day I'll build some ruins on the island, or a shipwreck, but not rushing into anything.

NPC Village above, base underneath. In another area I have a big mediterranean mansion. And then in the last area I own, I'll hopefully be putting some farms and other useful things in.

We have a lake that ends in a waterfall, around the lake we have some builds. :)

I'm still in the process of claiming the entire island I'm currently residing on. But as you can see from the live map I have big plans. I've got about 75% of it claimed but when it's entirely mine I plan on walling it all off, which you can see on the live map, and start working on my little almost completely self sustaining little island. All the farms you can imagine, spawners (already have a double spider spawner and a single skelly) and any other manner of build.
I plan on making it an entire little village inside the walls of a self contained island with a huge castle type thing atop a raised hill.
I am however currently still in the process of claiming it all and terraforming it, but you can see the beginnings on the live map just South of spawn.

I have 2 wild areas, actually. The first has a nice guardian grinder area that you can see at my /visit, where you can wind your way upstairs to a (imo) gorgeous fishing area, landlocked lake/pond with a cottage that got caught up in a tree after it had collapsed. There's a secret area further out, with an abandoned rustic mossy brick fort? fortress? I don't know what it is yet, but been working on that. Even further out is a little fishing cottage through the vines (past the abandoned acacia cocoa plantation- that'll be a tree fort one day- one day!!) and a floating island that one day will be something. (Again, one day!) To the opposite end of that area, is a renovated jungle temple- definitely creepy!

The second wild area is a little mountain by the woods cottage, complete with a mini mooshroom island with mooshroom spawner, and behind the cottage is a sheep barn, with sheep spawner. Past the sheep barn you can wander over a stone bridge, over a land bridge (hand built even), and into a village! I've been renovating that in my spare time (so, very very slowly, hoping to get more into it this summer!)

I LOVE doing landscaping, and water features. Some of my other big work can be seen in Lunarfalls (but that's a town), and town x, and outside ArtemisKnox's wild. (There are other places where I've put things, but those are the big things!)

My wilderness journey has been a wild adventure ( :D ). You may Remember Duel that my first wilderness location was going to be an island in the North East... until I discovered that Waterworth lived there! Good times were had attempted to "invade" the island, even claiming a few plots, but eventually I left it to him and built a modern house in the plains. While I did enjoy the design, I eventually decided to move to the island beside Waterworth's, which while smaller, was a scenic and wonderful place. To commemerate my new neighbour, I built a giant statue of him based off his own. Unfortunately, I regretably cleared the land and built a few large structures before quitting the game for a while, but coming back now I am resetting the island to build again with the beautiful scenery, potentially with a mix between a modern and fantasy style (and of course another Waterworth statue).

My main area of Wilderness has a large (unfinished) auto-sorter, it's too big to include just a single screenshot, but here is a random section of it:

Here it is from the outside on the live map:

It's got enough space to hold all of the current stackable items in the game, plus some leftover space. It's all inside a structure to allow me to easily get access to the different items; plus has indicators to show when I'm lacking in certain items. I'm been working on it slowly for years now.

I'm currently focusing on sorting out a giant hole to build a really big bedrock to sky structure in it, it currently looks like:

And on the live map:

Here is a simple mock up of how I imagine it'll look once done:

I've also got lots of other little projects both within those areas and scattered around the place. :P
