Title: Cleaning up a little
Post by: Jjonnn on 14 Apr 2012, 19:35:23
Hi all.
Not sure if this has been covored already, i did try looking.
Although i am not a mayor, t.a. or anything other than a noobscraft noob, i have noticed the extra work for those people in those positions.
Reason being, when someone decides to move to a different town, often they just leave builds, chests, locked doors etc. Then the already overworked ( some of them hehehe ) staff have to come and sort it out.
So, just a suggestion:
Would it be possible to implement a rule, that if you wish to move towns, you should clear up your stuff first?
Apologies if this has been covored already.

That is a brilliant idea! Just this week I've had to clear many plots from people that have either left the town or been banned.

Nu uh, that was in my first town, Balcombe. I left MapleForge for other reasons.

This is a brilliant idea! We've had this problem in DragonFire too. Just the other day someone moved out and left a locked sign, making it impossible for me to remove that sign and the block that it was attached to. I ended up having to resort to asking Emp for help with something so silly menial as that. >.> It's not only extra work for us mayors and TAs, it's also extra work for mods/admins that is really, or should be in my opinion, completely unnecessary. Used to be that I could just temporarily unclaim a plot and it would clean itself up, but I can't do that anymore unfortunately, though I understand why that feature was disabled.

Don't feel like you're wasting our time with doing stuff like that, it's really no problem.

You, as a mayor, are able to clear a plot of signs with the /plot clear command. I think it removes the lwc lock on the block as well, but I'm not too sure. I'd only use it if there are no mods on to help you out.

I also believe that this would be good to implement. There are many hours that I'm on and there's no mod on, and just last night a few of my residents needed some locked things unlocked and they couldn't do it because there was no mod (And I am not mayor obviously, so I couldn't try /plot clear) on.

There was also someone who skipped town just a day-two ago and left all their items and plots. I of course dutifully went about taking down the plots so someone else could take it. They came back after I was done complaining about me having tore their plots down and collected their items to put in free chests for the town to have.

They claimed I was a griefer because of it, and I simply replied that they had left town without notifying me in the slightest or even asking me not to do this (If they had asked me to let them collect their stuff and such, I would have. They did NOT.) so therefore I had absolutely no obligation to leave their plots and let them collect their items.

Having a server-wide rule of having to clean up your plot before moving would remove these inconveniences, and perhaps make people really have to choose which town they want to pick because it would mean a lot of work to move. Less town-hoppers, in my opinion.

see this is a great idea and that way the mods wouldnt have to be asked to help so much

You, as a mayor, are able to clear a plot of signs with the /plot clear command.
I think it also works when the new owner of the plot uses the command to remove signs left over by the previous owner.

Good idea. I'm sure moderators dislike having to be flipped from town to town taking up signs, chests, along other things.
