Can you add cocoa beans to shop? they are one of the hardest thing to automate(if its even possible).

It's still not a notable amount to even be worth selling to the server, well as a viable means of money making in the sense of. "Ooh I'm going to go excavating because I know coco beans are worth so much." Sort of way I have thrown all of mine away but it is about 1/3 as common as glowstone from dirt which isn't a whole lot.

Even if they were to be sold at like 16 cocoa beans for 8nbz. It wouldn't have to be a high amount. Just a way to sell cocoa beans. You can't really automate them either..

What's wrong with wanting more ways to earn money? It gives people more options to choose from instead of "The only thing you can do to earn money is to mine cobblestone and chop trees. Sorry Mate."

Rarely anyone ever buys cocoa beans, at least from my knowledge. Nor do I see why people would need to sell people cocoa beans because once you have one cocoa bean you can make a huge farm of them. So yeah I think cocoa beans should be added to the /shop even if it is at a very smell price per.

It's actually very easy to automate a cocoa farm, it's a bud switch with a sticky piston to "bump" the tree... just saying.

You can't just add everything that doesnt serve a ton of function to the shop. The shop is there to stimulate the economy to a point of self-sustaining. It's not there to let people sell every object they find on the floor and inflate the server currency. Be happy we have a shop to generate money by selling any objects at all, because it doesn't need to exist. It's current iteration is a good balance of economic growth and inflation control and it should stay as it is. You can't just implement things that will impact an economy willy nilly. It takes thoughtfulness to create a balance that works, and I appreciate the economy thats been created for us.

i think "automating" would refer to auto replanting, auto harvesting and auto storing cocoa beans using a lot of redstone, hoppers, repeaters etc. or i could be wrong but i think that might be the meaning of "automating" in this case.

You sir, would be correct.

To add in our two cents. And yes, you were adding in your two cents by saying we don't need to add anything else to the shop. but, consider this. You have a farm for cocoa beans and you are making bank out of beans. You don't know what to do with all of them. Players will only buy a few then will never buy again as they can then get tons beans within a few days or so. I think if it were added to shop but had a very low price, it would even itself out. None of us are saying cocoa beans should be added for a few hundred a piece. But being able to sell them to shop to make atleast some profits off of them would indeed be nice. The solution to this isn't to add more useless stuff to the shop, it's to stop farming useless things. Why do you have a cocoa bean farm if you can't do anything with them? Why do you continue farming them if you have loads of them and still no need for them? Just stop and it's over. The agony of the overwhelming beans will end when you end it.

People may want to farm cocoa beans for the Herbalism xp it gives, fair enough it doesn't give you a substantial amount but it's still something to farm. :)

You can't currently autoreplant anything in the game (dispensers don't do that, yet) but you can just spam right click on jungle logs with the beans since you have a range of 6 blocks (it doesn't need to be a whole tree) and collect the drops with hoppers.
With an elevated platform you could reach 6 blocks above and 6 blocks below, using the full 12 block piston range.
Just saying, it's been done since cocoa came out.

error is mine there. watched too much FTB modded minecraft survival. lol. but yeah now i know that cocoa beans do have the ability to be automated, i have never seen it done before

It's possible to do the same thing with wheat, carrot, and potatos. It just takes a bit more of redstonery. Still possible. Still in shop. Why not cocoa beans? Even considering, that the timings get messed up because of server lag.

I have a feeling that once you add Cocoa Beans, people will ask for Sugar Cane, Netherwart, and a lot of other items.
Now, I don't completely disagree. I use sugarcane often for xp grinding, and 8 noobs a stack wouldn't hurt. But, you can't have everything be easy to farm and easy to make money. See, cocoa beans serve little to no use. There's no reason to have a giant farm for them. It's all about supply and demand, like a real economy. If you want to manufacture a product, you can't have it be worthless and still want to sell it. I think the reason these things aren't added to shop is to help shape the server economy to a more realistic one. I wouldn't complain about them being added, but I don't think it's important to add either.
Looking back three years later at all of my posts: cringe.

You can now sell Cocoa Beans using the /shop command under the farming menu. Sorry for the delay in adding these, thanks for the suggestion.
