/mail revamp

Hello.
/mail is a useful command if you want to message someone something when they're not online. But, you have to type the message in along with the command in the text box, and unfortunately, it has a character limit that restricts you from sending a long message, so if you want to send something that overrides the character limit, you have to spread it across multiple messages.
What I'd really like to see is a revamp of the /mail command. Rather than typing "/mail send [username] [message], why not have it function somewhat similar to /gift? Example would be where you do /mail [username], and a book appears. You write in that book, and as soon as you've signed the book, it'll automatically get sent to the receiver. The receiver would get a notification when the /mail has been sent (or when he/she logs in if the /mail was sent when he/she was offline), and does /mail read, where he/she'd get the book with the /mail message in it. Once the receiver has read the message in the book, he/she does /mail clear and all of the /mail books that are in her inventory despawns.

This would prove practical because it would allow for (VERY) long messages to be sent in a single go, rather than having to spread it out with multiple /mail messages due to the character limit, as I stated earlier.

Couldnt you just send a book in /gift and it would do the same?

That would kinda defeat the purpose of /mail in general. Plus, collecting /gifts requires you to clear your inventory, which is a hassle for anyone who carries on a lot of stuff.

I think, it's a good idea Adam. The book after you sign it and send it is completely useless for other usage, so you can't really argue with "making business" from this feature. Also you can make birthday wishes like this for example. <- will love it :D
But, because you'll still give a book, I think there should be a fees (If you thought about making the book disappear after reading it, from my point of you, it will be useless, because some of the features of "mail" is also that you can have the mail still with yourself.)
So just a little edit:
Keep the ./mail (name) command for regular messages
and make ./letter (name) command for book, - you'll pay 10 to 50 Nbz? - hopefully that would be reasonable
(it doesn't have to be a lett*letter* :D, just 1st thing which get to my mind)
But it's a good idea, hopefully Larry will put it into the section, What should we work on  :D
Cheers

Changing how the mail works is already planned and has been for a bit now. You can see (and vote for) the work item for it here: https://www.noobscraft.com/work/full/redevelop-mail/.

The idea of using a book to extend the message sounds nice, so is something I will definitely consider. However in Minecraft 1.11+ they did actually increase the chat limit from 100 characters normally to 256 so this might be something I need to look at too as to whether the book would actually be needed considering the complications of pages etc.

Great idea though.
