Title: Online Chat
Post by: ProtocolAlpha on 6 Nov 2013, 05:40:05
So I was wondering during the downtime of the server could the staff team implement an online chat to the website, i've seen some websites have online/website chats but idk how they do it.

While this would be a cool idea, I think by implenting a chat system onto the website would take some time and by then the server will most likely be up. Once the server is up, not a whole lot of people use the website. I think it would be a waste of time and definitely would be something temporary.

There is always the forums to communicate and private messages as well.

GG, you are right, it will take more time for the server to come out as they will have more tasks, i changed my mind, no online chat

I have to agree with Jack. :P
Since the last day of Noobstown, I've been using Teamspeak and a few others have too. It'd be nice to have you join us. :)

At the moment they can't actually do much for Noobstown other than wait for a stable release of Bukkit and a web chat doesn't really take that much time to setup.

The only problem with the chat is that it would probably require moderation :|

It's unlikely but possible. :P I've been on almost everyday for about 2 hours at least so it won't be hard to catch me. :)

i like the online chat idea. im technically not allowed on anything related to video games on monday-thursday so i cant really use teamspeak, and i dont has a microphone. xD so online chat would be kinda epic.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Teamspeak isn't all "speak". There's a chat as well for the non-mic users. It can act as an online chat. :P

I never used Noobscraft's TS so I don't know how they used to handle that, but I guess that if they want to add a chat feature to the website it would require a bit more than just one guy to ensure the same level of "protection" they normally want to offer.

(just as they tried to have at least 1 staff member online at any time on the game server)

On the other hand if you guys can already use an active TS server there's not much point in such a feature :P

Good suggestion Proto.  The forums are not a good place to communicate or have discussions because of the restrictions on going off topic.  It's so annoying to have someone come on and stop a lively and intersting discussion with "get back on topic".  PM's are even a worse way to have a discussions amongst several people than the current forums.
