Selling hostile mob spawners

I believe that you should sell hostile mob spawners. Though that doesn't mean you have to make it cheap, like maybe 10 million per spawner? Thank you if you read and/or implement this topic into the game. Once again thanks!

My concern with allowing them to be purchased is that people would be able to create perfectly efficient mob farms, by being able to place them exactly where they want. Making the farming of their resources even easier. You can still find hostile spawners around both the Town and Wilderness worlds and are free to claim them to farm.

If they are very expensive I might be open to the idea though. I'd be interested to know what others think of this?

Why would you like them to be available to purchase over just finding them?

A 10 million nbz price would put them out of reach of all but the most dedicated players, and perhaps towns, which seems appropriate.  With that said, there's plenty of spawners around to use if you know where to look ... owning your own isn't really necessary.

Honestly, if you own about say, 50 plots, and you just start building and you find a cave system on said plot, you're almost bound to run into one. I've had a set of plots before moving, which had a spider and a zombie spawner on them. I rolled back the land, moved, and dug out an area, which led to a cave system, which turns out (thanks Rueyeet for finding it!) to have a skele spawner. While I do have -ridiculously- weirdly good luck in the weirdest of things, so it may well be a fluke, I can't imagine that this isn't terribly uncommon if you have a fair amount of lands. So if you had the time to earn 10 million nbz, I'd imagine you'd have the time to buy the plots, and have the time to dig about in some natural caves you stumble into on your land, and find one.

Unless I'm just weirdly lucky.

And the towns do have them, and several towns have mob farms, dark rooms, (at Ethereal we're building a fantastic sniping wall and tower! /end pitch) outlands, etc. I feel like this draws people into towns, even if they don't join them. I love that there are different towns with different themes, with different benefits, namely the mob farms. I'd be apt to say that I'd prefer that this be kept to be a town benefit.

You are lucky, or maybe I'm just unlucky.  I've got 243 chunks claimed to date, and have yet to find a spawner.  Not that I've dug them all out top to bottom, but still.

I kinda agree with placed spawners being a town thing, because that would be useful for town planning.  You wouldn't just have to hope for the best and deal with whatever location.  Maybe the purchase of hostile spawners could be restricted to mayors?

That I could see. I think mayors could buy them, with the stipulation that there be X amount of residents, though, I think. Otherwise theoretically everyone who wanted could get a town, private or otherwise, just to buy a spawner.

Also, if you ever wanna go spelunking your land for spawners, I'm so down for that!! :D

But you have to have a lot of money for the town and you need to get the application approved for a town so it would be harder to get a spawner then just a town.

Remember that stair down to diamond level? Would you believe I didn't encounter a single major cave system on the way down?

Farhaaad made a million nbz in a week from mining so just go out mining and in no time you will have enough for a town. Also you can just take-over a town which has inactive owners (2months is considered inactive).

Also I don't think you should be able to sell hostile and nooncob if you want xp just go to a public guardian grinder or find one and make one yourself.

Just a quick mention that when Warriorben and I were in the Guardian Grinder construction business, 5x5 chunks were needed and we found a minimum of 2 spawners every time.  All we had to do was take the chunks down to bedrock and boom!  Always got at least 2.  Hope this helps!
