Empire Trading and Manufacturing Co
« on: 18 Dec 2013, 03:25:01 »
Empire Trading and Manufacturing Company (Empire T&M or Empire Co for short) is going to be Noobscraft's first big business. Featuring a wide range of items at great prices, Empire will be your one stop shop for every item found in survival! If you need materials for your big projec, why spend hours collecting the materials yourself, facing frustrations like dying and losing your stuff when you can go to our store and buy the stuff at a great, low price? We will have shops open in:

Utopia (Headquarters and largest shop here; it'll be stocked most of the time.)
Noobstown

Eventually, we will have shops in many major towns!

Dragon eggs to dyes, beacons to bricks, cakes to carpets, chicken eggs to spawn eggs, we will have it all! If you can find it in survival, you can find it in an Empire store!

We also do installations and interior/exterior decoration!

If a chest is out of stock, please mail the player who the shop chest belongs to and myself. If I am the owner of the chest, also notify SmithB0118.

I am curious as to how you are going to be able to run a town, a nation, and the 'first big business' all at the same time?

Two words: Time management

(And the fact that I have a lot of people helping me, so a shoutout to all staff members of Utopia, mayors in the Teltido Nation, and anyone else who is helping me. A special shoutout to deebles17, 500manhunt, stickeyfingers, and last but definitely not least SmithB0118)

Trained Monkeys.

But really, the server didn't start yet and you're assuming a lot of things by planning too far ahead.

What do you mean by trained monkeys?

Also, trust me, we aren't planning too far ahead. We have planned ahead, but that isn't a bad thing. We know our limit and since we know that we will have help, we could plan more than what a single person could do by themselves.

don't worry aqw, its not your town, so you dont have to fret. We have it under control. We have spent hours over LAN worlds and we have it under control (though we will probably slam our faces on the screen a few times) Its all figured out.

You may be right and if we come across any problems in V6 with what we have planned then we'll have to adjust to them and make it work for us. As for the trained monkeys thing, we are not using anyone as trained monkeys. Everyone helping us has had the option to either help us or leave and do something else. Everyone is free to do what they wish and it's not right of you to call them trained monkeys when they've freely decided to help us.

Exactly. All people who are helping us aren't going to be slaved, they could quit at any time they wanted. The people who help us will be getting paid for their help as well, so the term "trained monkeys" wouldn't be correct.

People who owned shops in V5 bought at least some of their stuff from someone. That's not having trained monkeys, it is quite simply the cycle of business. It's just like real life: some people get materials, then a company buys the materials and sells them again, so that way everyone profits.

Well, I hope you are successful as I would definitely frequent your chest shop.  Since I have no plans on particpating in the auction system, I'll need a place to get stuff I need right when I need it.  So, be sure to keep those trained monkeys working!  :P

I guess nobody got the joke so I'll explain it: trained monkeys to do the work while you do other stuff.

It wasn't meant as an insult to anyone... I never said you were the trained monkeys.

By "too far ahead" I meant that you are taking it for granted that everything will go according to the plan but you can't really predict how the server and the economy will turn out while it's offline.

I knew what trained monkeys meant... it was the fact that the statement implied that that was how we looked at the people who worked for us that was (mistakenly) taken as offensive.

And yes, we did think about how the server will be while we are offline. We also realize that not everything is going to go according to plan. We factored in things like labor time and money for materials, among other things. This is something Smith and I talk about frequently when building models of shops or other buildings for V6. Trust me, we will have everything under control. You won't need to be concerned about it :). Just enjoy our prices

Okay... it's all clear now. No offense taken anymore . I agree with you Dark, we will run in to some problems, but that's why we've gotten together for sleepovers and played mostly all day. We have an idea on how smoothly it will run, but there are going to be bumps along the way. So we will just see what happens and if we have to change a slight thing, we deffinitely will.

When V6 is released may I sign up on to be a exterior/interior installer? I am hoping to live in Utopia so I will live nearby.

You mean like someone who helps us build the shops (or in Utopia's case the HQ)

I honestly think planning out your business and town is a great idea.  If you have enough help on a town, you can easily run more than one thing at once.  And then, if you think you want to only focus on your nation and step down from power to only run the nation and the business, then let the person that helped you the most focus on being Mayor while you are assistant mayor..... There are many ways to make it work, it just takes the right planning with the right people, some dedication, and some focus.

On another subject, it is a bit frustrating to plan something that you aren't sure if it will work out the way it shows on paper.  One of my biggest issues right now while planning is how the online bidding will work. I'm not sure if it will be 100 percent successful, or if it will be used by half of the people and the other half not.  It's really hard to know if you put up a shop, that it will be abandoned and not touch due to the new auction shop.   I had that problem in V5, where I based my town solely around it having the market right in front of the town, and i wanted it to be the main place to shop. It was....for about 2 weeks until they released the plots at the Server Spawn, which killed it.  But that's the whole thing, you can't plan for changes and you can't see ahead to see how the economy will work out.

I wish you luck on your project, and it seems you've matured quite a bit from the first time I met you (don't take that offensive haha)

And just a heads up for your business if i decide to basically contract with you guys (since I will need a lot of it coming in for my town), I will need need probably around 50 book and quill to start off with, and lots and lots and lots of redbrick (stone form). It'll depend on how things pan out though, just thought I'd throw it out there. :)
