I think if anything it will be beneficial. Mojang is not a good game developer. Maybe getting some money and good management in there will lead to some actual development of this game.
-
I dont know, i kinda like notch....
XD
Anyway, I thing id have to agree with chomp on that one.

LOL I am just waiting for MC 9.0 to come out, will require Silverlight, 3 reboots to install, 7 patches each requiring a reboot, for some reason Adobe acrobat will be included now, along with BING. Every tuesday will be a patch to fix security issues - also requiring a reboot. OSX support will disappear, and you will need a 5 year subscription to Xbox Live Gold to use, along with a MS/Outlook ID, oh yeah and 7gb of cloud space. :D

Oh no... this is terrible, remember what happened to Rare? They have degraded to making Kinnect sports games. R.I.P. Mojang.
-
If mojang/notch/their investors are even crazy enough to let this happen, then it could be the end of minecraft's modibility the way we have it now. Also I'd expect some eula changes...
-
The only hope we can have in this is that when Mojang makes the deal, they restrict what Microsoft can change in the game, such as pay to play, or making it an xbox exclusive.
-
What happens to linux/mac users?
-
We either get screwed or we get tail end charlie support. But we won't be as bad off as the PS|2 and other consoles. They may just get dropped.
However, I've found that they may leave game development where it is, this has been my experience with their Skype takeover. They have been updating it on all the platforms it was already on. So we'll see what happens.

Microsoft doesn't do a ton of meddling. If Mojang is making money they won't see a ton of radical changes. They just want a new revenue stream.
