Notice of absence.
« on: 13 Apr 2015, 18:55:49 »
So I will be inactive for a while due to my computer getting the trojan virus by my cousin who clicked on a link which automatically downloaded it.
My activity will disappear for a good while, but I will be back ASAP.

I'd been wondering where you were! Sorry about the virus.

Sorry about your trouble. Not sure why you needed to buy a new computer though? There are many free programs to get rid malware.

Best of luck until then.

Well the virus gave me inaccessibility to the computer, so I can't really do anything about that. Plus, the Malwares here can't beat the trojan virus.

The *ONLY* way you can get infected where a complete-new-hard-drive doesn't cut it, is if it is a BIOS firmware infection. Which, all of them, have a fix-tool for, AND they are identifiable ; buying a new system for a BIOS problem or if it isn't a BIOS infect, just a new hard drive .. seems like complete overkill. Maybe it's simply time for a new system, regardless of infection? Maybe, but otherwise I can't see why. There hasn't been a Windows system in my life that we weren't able to clean.

Time to join the Linux crew, and in the mean time make the person responsible pony up for damages, even if it's taking an allowance.... Using a solid AV(Avast is free and has always been a solid go to, avoid Norton/McAfee/AVG) and careful browsing(Chrome or Firefox sandbox mode if need be) are a must in the future if you are to stick to Windows.

Hope to see you back sooner rather than later...

I'd probably suggest checking out Malwarebytes free version, system scanning on it is very good for dealing with lots of things. It's dealt with a few annoying viruses on my computer that I'd never heard of and that I couldn't get rid of any other way.
