This has been translated with Google Translate so some words might be wrong, taken from the Norwegian Article about the tragic stuff that happened :(

NEWTOWN / HOBOKEN / OSLO (AP) A man in his 20s identified as the culprit behind one of the worst school massacre in U.S. history.

His mother was, according to several U.S. media teacher at the preschool level in school, and after having murdered her the man killed the 18 childrens in the classroom (all between the age of 8 - 10)

New York Times writes that the massacre began in this classroom.

- 18 children were found murdered in the classroom, two children died in the hospital and six adults were also killed. A person is injured. The shooter is also dead, says Paul Vance of the Connecticut police at a news conference.

The perpetrator was found murdered inside the school, police said. It is not known whether he was shot by them or if he chose to take his own life.

The shooting began in the morning hours while the principal wanted the students welcomed over the speakers. A witness said that the plant should have been left on while it was being opened fire and thus were the shots broadcast to all classrooms.

Several renowned U.S. media reported early on that an anonymous police source said Ryan Lanza (24) was the perpetrator. The media later had to pull this information. AP also reported that name.

According to the American television channel CBS was the offender wearing camouflage clothing and used the weapons he should have bought. CNN reports that police found three guns on the offender, including the powerful semi-automatic rifle.

At least 27 people have been killed in shooting at school

I hope this explains it all Jay, just horrible to see what type of world we live in :(

In a short
A kindergarten teacher's son, Adam Lanza, clad in black and carrying two 9mm pistols, rampaged through his mother's Kindergarten  teaching room at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, killing 20 small children and 6 adults, and his mom, then killed himself.

I've been thinking about this for a long time, I just don't understand why someone would do such a thing.
The teachers were amazingly brave... what some of them did to save the children was inspiring.

I've been playing scenarios in my mind, trying to figure out what I would have done in that situation. I don't know why. I've just always wanted to be a savior.
YES I'M WEIRD OKAY!

~Rest in peace

I think that guy did it because he had a mental issue. No sane man can just go and kill a bunch of kindergartners. It still makes me sick to my stomach to hear about this shooting.  :(

Maybe the guy was really mentally sick, but I still would've prefered to hear his side of the story as swell :(. Yes, it's a shame for the families who suffered, but none of us know why the man done what he did.

The first event like this I can remember was Columbine in 1999, Two students went in and killed somewhere around 15-20 students and teachers. Since then these occurrences have happened way too much. It got to the point where people in my community were afraid to go to public school on december 21st (end of the world) because of student threats. Things like that just shouldn't happen.

To be realistic, the percent of people who lost their lives from a specific public shooting is very small considering the total amount of gun-related deaths. The majority isn't publicized. Only the unique ones.

Anytime more than 10 people are killed at once it's publicized, the others are just so common. Sandy Hook was more of a wake-up call than anything, but I personally do not think taking away guns from american's is the right solution.

Yep, but I feel it shouldn't take something as tragic as that to bring attention to an issue. Still I'd argue 20 individual cases are more terrible than 1 with 10 casualties.

Ya agreed but when it happens in the USA and kids are involved then it gets media attention

The thing about news is it doesn't cover stories for reason such as:
-It's too common.
-It's not deemed interesting enough.
Honestly I don't think the news would cover Sandy Hook if they knew people wouldn't watch it. That's all the TV networks really want. Views on their channel/network. So yeah I agree a death is significant, but the news just can't cover it all.

And now, because that guy who used the gun to shoot all of those kids.. The government thinks making guns illegal will keep them off the streets.

"If making gun illegal will keep them off the streets, they should make meth and other drugs illegal too." -My awesome teacher from school

Ya the want to make automatic weapons illegal but if you look at the statics only 20 people in the USA have been kill on purpose with fully automatic guns and about 1000 people have been killed with pistols

It's quite silly to consider guns being illegalized, look at marijuana or other drugs that were made ilegal. It was taken underground and is still successfully being sold today, the exact same will happen to guns, just wait and see.
