lol...yeah oceans are still kinda JUST PLAIN DERPED! but hey if you can find trees on your land you can make a boat ad sail somewhere else, as long as squids dont run into your boat, cuz i think they have a habit of destroying boatf if you hit them...

Max, what looks larger than 10 chunks, the island?  Cause it's about 3x2 chunks.  But it takes up a lot less space than that.

And there were no trees...  Just some large ferns.

I was just kidding Birdman.  The island looks so small, LIKE 10 chunks.  Should have put a :P at the end.

It's all good Max, I just thought you had a bit of an issue with depth perception. :P

And I don't know the seed, I deleted the world after exploring a bit.

Hm, maybe they didn't mean ocean would be smaller in general. Maybe they meant that there also will be new smaller oceans. In 1.7.2 I often find round (cratershaped ) bays that are actually small oceans along the shorelines, which creates nice deeper bayareas than the very shallow ones before (makes for better looking harbors and beachareas.

It is in the *bug fix list, rather than the +add on though.  I guess I just stumbled upon the only giant ocean left in MC, because I have yet to find another one that big.  And I was no in Large Biomes. :P

They didn't really avoid big oceans, they just made them less plain by adding features.

Most probably you found more than one right next to each other but the new worldgen actually fixed a lot of weird stuff dividing biomes into cold VS warm and damp vs dry and adding rules for their placement.

The worldgen should prevent drastic changes like a snowy mountain next to a desert and similar cases.

There are also the modifiers like +M (adding mountains even if the biomes normally doesn't have them) and Mega (making the biome larger). You could also find something like a Deep Ocean that is deeper (duh!) and has gravel at the bottom.
