Use something like Blender or Cinema4D, feels more accomplishing as it's less of a template compare to Mine-imator :).

You could get shots like this one, it's an old one I done a few months back:

Mine-imator, while low quality, is easy to use.

although if you could direct me to a "tutorial" i'll take your advice.

All depends on what you're trying to do, personally I prefer Cinema4D as it's interface isn't overwhelming and I've gotten used to it, I'd suggest searching for the likes of "How to make a minecraft animation in cinema4d", It'll get you used to the buttons, even if you're only planning to take still shots.
