You can actually accrue 1 free chunk for every 180 minutes of game play, and with the new /shop feature for easy selling, just message me in game and I can give you some premium tools and supplies, as well as a safe place (need to coordinate a time we will both be on) to start digging cobble and selling it to the /shop!  I made my first million when I started by digging sand and selling it :D

OK, thanks for the info. The /shop was exactly what I was looking for. I had already gone off to the mining world before heading to the Wild to look for a spot and then realized I couldn't get one with what I had, and I didn't want to just sit around waiting for a few hours doing nothing to get one. I'll generally on in the morning US EST time furing the week and late night on the weekends since I work graveyard shift.

Also welcome back Omega! I knew I remember you somewhere from before, and then I remembered when Fish gave me a tour of Oakvale. Your builds were out of this world!

Yep, crazy monster builds are kinda my thing. Spent the past few years as an architect and mod on a now shut-down server so I'm back here now.

Support / Wild Chunks after a time away.
« on: 9 Aug 2019, 19:39:50 »
OK, so I've been away a while, reasonably all my old chunks, currency, and everything are long gone, so is there an easier way to get chunks to build on other than just hanging around forever or killing a few thousand mobs to get a place to build in the wild? It seems to remember me claiming the 10 freebie chunks from way back in the day it wants me to buy them outright, but there is no money left from back then either.

Works fine for things needing power on the way up like the droppers, or even pistons for an elevator .If you just need to send power vertically up without powering things on the way, you can just do a torch stack (Bad ASCII illustration below).

RS______->out

[ ]____<-In

For horizontal distance signals, you can use a piston and some tripwires as an alternate method for that/ You can "send" a signal around 40 blocks without repeaters and little delay that way. Here is a youtube vid on that.

Suggestions & Ideas / Wilderness Chunk Purchase Idea
« on: 10 Mar 2014, 16:35:02 »
OK, considering the fuss over the purchase of wilderness chunks, and their associated costs, espacially among those of us that like doing larger builds, I've come up with an idea that may work to alleviate that while sticking to the admin goals of making it a goal as well.

Why not re-implement something similar to the token accrual process again, and allow users to earn/purchase additional free chunks with tokens. That way time spent on the server and leveling McMMO skill counts towards getting you more land to build on without shelling out millions of Nbz, or having to cash grind for hours to allow for expansion.

Considering the token earning process already worked in v5, and additional chunks can be purchased by donation, it doesn't seem like it would be too much of a reach to allow tokens for chunk exchanges. It would reward the more active players and levelers with something tangible.

I'm in some barren extreme hills rock plateaus in the snow. The bottom of my tower is above what would normally be cloud level, but there is pretty much nothing resource wise around there. So far even hollowing out my tower with a 32 block dia down 100 blocks, and I've only hit a single coal vein. So if you're looking for solid stone cliff, I can show you a few.

Hey Doc, here's a bit more compact way to power the item elevator. Smaller footprint, and a bit more resource friendly.

You can go as high as you want with it, or as short. It's the design I've been using for most of the automation around my Complex

EDIT: The other upside to this design is that it's pretty much silent with the odd click randomly from one of the droppers.

« on: 10 Mar 2014, 01:23:43 »
This I'd really like since due to some odd memory leak, I can't keep the site open all the time when I'm in game. We already get mail to let us know we've been outbid, so why not one for winning as well?

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Beacons in the Wild
« on: 10 Mar 2014, 01:16:43 »
Please keep in mind the wilderness is a free world.  A player needs no permissions to set up homestead wherever they like.

Somewhat Duel, it's hardly "Free" with the prices on the chunks, v5 was free. Quite honestly due to the cost's limiting by build, were someone to set-up too close to me and ruin my planning at this point it would be enough to make me leave the server for good, considering a similar thing happened in v5.

a Beacon effect only goes 50 blocks (2 more blocks than 3 chunks).

Also a good point considering that the outer perimeter block is for the most part useless for anything other than walkways and walls.

Hoping it's not a repeat of last weekend's wasted mess. If it is, it'll pretty much be 4 days of VIP wasted because our host can't seem to work the weekend. So far it's looking like it, crash, up for 40 mins or so, and then dark again.

IKR, I've been focusing on condensing the tower complex and just going for hyper-complicated and overly detailed. I just hope they don't kill pistons again, or I'm screwed. The 180 block tall piston elevator will be useless if that happens.

Looks good Cite, nice to see the snowglobe reborn.

I'll have to agree with Cite on this one. In most of the towns on v5, the largest plots you could get were 2x2 or so, with a few towns allowing 3x3 and 4x4's. You can do quite a bit with that size of a plot. Now my grief magnet wilderness complex was a massive 40x90 chunk behemoth, and while I miss the freedom to expand at will, I see no problem with the new system.

It means that I'll need to plan my expansion and builds a bit better, I'll have time to focus more on the finer deails of everything, and I finally don't need to worry about some knuckle dragger breaking in to have a look about while making a proper mess of everything.

It should have. SLA's do exist here, but you generally only see them on Business Class connections, normal home connections you're pretty well at their mercy. That said the SLA for the server farm should have already kicked into effect.

Or its a telecom issue and no one knows who is responsible for the telecom since its all contracted to contractors who contracted to MOM and POP Telecom, who contracted to India, who subcontracted back to the USA, who then hired the original contractor........

Can confirm this, I work for a subcontractor of TWC, and we have at least 3 sub-sub-contractors working for us just on a single 5000 mi project.  >:(

Not a doc, just a guy who has gotten in his fair share of fights in his younger years and traveled some drier climates as well. A stiff bit of folded up paper held between your upper lip and gums, held as tight as you can stand it, will help stifle the nose bleeds when they happen.

For the dryness, try swabbing the insides of your nose with Vaseline using a q-tip. It'll help keep the skin in there from drying out too bad. It'll also help the wounds to heal. Neosporin will also work as well for this.

My plans are to find a nice spot and finally build some of the things I've been working on in SP mode the past few months finally.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Time for change?
« on: 16 Dec 2012, 15:29:02 »
I agree, I would love to see a map reset and wipe, even though it would mean losing my Tower Complex. There are parts of the map that are starting to get quite crowded with very little room for expansion.

Oakvale sits elbow to elbow with 2 other towns, and the town layout leaves a bit to be desired since it kinda grew in a rather organic fashion as the town expanded. Being able to reboot the town with an organized street grid would be kinda nice.

My complex started out being in a remote area completely removed from everything back in May, with the closest town being 2k blocks away, while now there are 4 within 500 blocks, which severely limits some of the large builds I still have planned for adding to it.

So I'm in favor of a map reset. Though I would like to keep my McMMO skills, going back to 0 acro atm would be rather fatal with my builds, lol
