Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Supporter Benefits
« on: 15 Mar 2014, 22:29:31 »
While I do think supporters should get a little bit of incentive outside of their (rather lovely, actually) light blue title, let's remember what a donation is:

Donations, most of the time, are done because you want to help whatever thing you're donating to, and ONLY because of that reason. You aren't looking to get anything out of it, because you like the server and you want it to continue running. I think it seems to be often forgotten that this is the spirit and the true purpose behind donating to Noobstown, not just paying for VIP and such.

Supporters don't HAVE to get extra perks, but it's still appreciated because it gives players more incentive to help the server. And I like the idea for the supporter armor without the special buffs that Veteran and VIP armor have. Especially since Light Blue Leather armor looks really nice. ^^

I'd be in full support of this, actually. Especially for in-game trading and such, since not everyone really wants to use the auction house yet.

I'm a little disappointed that villagers don't accept emeralds like default, but I can see why it was replaced, especially with the emerald islands in the wild. Due to the emerald island where I claimed, I have more than half of a double chest full of emerald stacks, plus about 5 stacks of ore. Other players have gotten lucky as well, so there's already a massive amount of emeralds in the economy of the game.

My issue is that these are pretty much going to go to waste. Emeralds have no use outside of villager trading and emerald blocks for decoration, but since villager trading isn't an option, that leaves one very niche use with decoration.

Well... I could always make a giant house out of emeralds. xD

Quick question: For all the veterans, what time will we receive whitelists for the early-access? Is it going to be 3 hours before the timer at the top of the website?

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Implementation of Fair Mcmmo
« on: 31 Dec 2013, 12:30:41 »
I like the idea of a fair MCMMO system, but moderators not being able to fly? That would be like a ship without a steering wheel, so im not sure about that.

Agreed here, being a former mod myself. Moderators NEED to have flying on Noobscraft for various reasons that I probably shouldn't (nor do I think I'm actually allowed to. xD) go into. The downside is yes, you gain a small unfair advantage with MCMMO skills, but I'll provide a few small tidbits here that might help.

1. Acrobatics training requires a mod to turn their flymode off completely, since Flymode disables ALL falling damage. This is kind of why I never had an extremely high Acrobatics level throughout all of V5, because I didn't discover this until much later. So mods can't just use Flymode to train that.

2. Outside of mining Quartz and Glowstone off the ceiling of the Nether, that's about the biggest advantage you get mining-wise, which, to be honest, is not that great of an advantage given the low price of those two items on the server.

3. Probably the two biggest and the only immediate advantages Mods get as a result of Flymode are easier traveling and easier building. Which, even so, is again not a big advantage.

Realistically I never saw my flymode as giving me THAT big of an advantage over standard members or VIPs. It's still a necessary power for mods to have.

As for a fair MCMMO system, yes, perhaps this is worth talking to Foob about. There's a tad bit of "pay-to-win" with VIP because of the constant 2x MCMMO benefits, a type of policy I've never approved of. Maybe someone can do some research about players who got in the Top 10 for MCMMO in V5 and WEREN'T VIP at all throughout it.

Server Announcements / Re: December Update
« on: 21 Dec 2013, 09:22:48 »
"V6 is like Half life 3"

However, we have quite a large break which will roughly last until the 20-29th of January which we plan to slot the release sometime during the 2nd-29th.

20 - 29 = -9
2 - 29 = -27

-9 + -27 = -36

-36 / -6 = 6

V6 Confirmed.

This is singlehandedly the best comment on the forums ever. Someone please screencap this!

I would actually love this, in fact, I would recommend this to be done in many major towns so that a lot of people can participate all at once.

This is an excellent idea! I'd love to see it!

Server Announcements / Re: Unexpected Sad News!
« on: 25 Oct 2013, 07:11:32 »
I'm gonna be honest here, anyone wanting to leave the server because of this specific announcement isn't truly devoted to the server. You aren't paying for this server, unless you're donating, and even then you're paying for it because you want to, not because you HAVE to. Show some gratitude people.

First off, the Staff Team, most notably the Admins, all have busy lives. All of the current moderators and admins are either busy fathers or are in college (which for those who have never been to college before, takes up a great deal of time for most students). Try to see where they're coming from. College is pretty much like a full time job, and so is parenting.

Second, this time, it was out of the control of the admins. Mojang is releasing a new major update (emphasis on the MAJOR, as this is the largest patch in the history of the game). If the server were released last weekend as planned, all of the new content, especially the new biomes, wouldn't be there and probably would NEVER be there until another major update. Additionally, they're creating CUSTOM plugins. These aren't just server plugins that they can just download and set up in a matter of hours, they're literally creating programs from the ground up, which can take days, even weeks to complete.  And because 1.7 is arriving soon, there's no way that these plugins could be completed alongside the new release.

All I ask is that some of you read between the lines and actually see why it's taking so long. These things aren't simple. At all.

Honestly, as much as I'd love to get V6 here ASAP, don't you think it'd be better to have a really long release duration, and have ALL of the bugs worked out properly, instead of a speedy, rushed release with TONS of in-game bugs?

I stand by my viewpoint that in any video game, the more time spent developing, the better the game will be in the eventual final release. Give it time, guys. Heck, if it means no Noobween celebration, I would prefer that more than having problems in the middle of it.

Just betting on this weekend. XD

Ylvis isn't that bad of a singer, it's just this song is so ungodly stupid and goofy for me to take it seriously... Seriously, look up some of his other works. He's quite talented.

Why do you want to be a Prefect?: I'd like to help the server as I did previously as a former moderator. While I don't currently have returning as a full Moderator in mind, I would like to focus on at least some form of helping the server, and becoming a Prefect is in my best interest currently.

Twisty you have NO idea how happy I am that you're coming back. Nice to see that we can be all goofy again. ^^

Also, we need to talk more on Skype outside the server, hun. Gotta catch up!

Also also, about Dragonfire, if you're willing to do it, I'll definitely rejoin and take a more active role than before as a TA, assuming you still would like me as one of your TAs, of course! I left in the latter part of V5 because I was virtually the last regularly active member of the town and no one else that I knew was on from it. I'm sure Jaeger won't mind, right?

Seems like people are genuinely interested, so I'll be starting my services at some point after v6's release!

I will be posting my information in the Marketplace after I get started, so please, check there when the thread is up! I will be starting as soon as I have the funds, time, and the essential stuff needed!

Oh! Wasn't aware you were getting married, GG! Congratulations! ^^

I'll see you in V6 then! Hopefully you're rejoining Shinto, right?

21
Probably going to build myself a nice huge castle to live in after I rack up some major money in V6. Perhaps a nice feudal-era Japanese castle... *drifts off into daydreaming*

Hey Bexn, how would you like to work as an architect for Utopia for a bit? You'd get free housing and live in a great town. :)

Probably going to be joining Shinto again in V6 with many of the other staff and ex-staff. Thanks for the offer though!

awwww why dont you joun Cloudsdale?

Heh, I appreciate the invites you guys, but the staff and ex-staff are kind of like a family to me on the server and I generally prefer being with them. ^^

23
This was actually a really nice surprise to come home to! I honestly didn't expect to get Veteran in V6 despite being a retired mod. Thanks!
