Title: 1.7
Post by: Foob on 30 Jun 2011, 15:23:44
1.7 has been released please do not update until you get the all clear from the Noobstown staff.

Why can't I update?

Updating the server can take sometime we have to wait for plugin developers and the software that the plugins run from to update (Bukkit) this means our server will have to stay in 1.6 for a few days, unless the update was minuscule.

When can I update?

As I said above when Noobstown updates, although you can update and check out the new stuff. We have supplied a guide on how to downgrade on our youtube channel youtube.com/Noobscraft

Download 1.6 bin folder: http://adf.ly/1wlJe (http://adf.ly/1wlJe)

Delete current bin folder and replace with this (Backup texture packs and single player mods)

To upgrade once 1.7 is out run minecraft go to options (force update) then press play.

Updated the post with the download link. Also I suggest downloading the new luncher as the old one auto-updates!

Just so everyone knows, you need the most recent Minecraft Launcher. If you don't see the News screen when you open Minecraft, go to the minecraft site an download it again. The old launchers don't have a choice on the updates, instead they downloaded and patched automatically.

I had the launcher from Alpha and I screwed this up when 1.6 came out.

im not shure how to find the 1.7 file to delete

If your using windows follow this brief tutorial:

Start - search for RUN

Copy and paste this:
Code: [Select]
%appdata%
Once you search that go into the roaming folder

Now go into the .minecraft folder

Delete the "bin" folder

Replace with the downloaded version. You must first extract the download version.

Re-name the downloaded version from 1.6_6bin to bin

Run minecraft "Would you like to update?" Click no - Connect to Noobstown.com

I can help with this,
I'm going to assume your using ubuntu for this ok.
First open your file manager and go to your home folder.
If you can't see a ".minecraft" folder you need to turn "show hidden files" on.
If your using nautilus go the the veiw menu and near the middle there should be a show hidden files button, select it.
Now your home folder should be full of folders and files, look near the top for the ".minecraft" folder.
Once your in it the steps should be the same for windows, the 1.7 file is in the bin folder in .minecraft
Hope this helps :D

Did you put the 1.6.6 "minecraft.jar" file in place of the 1.7 one?
