Changes to New Players
« on: 1 May 2016, 22:24:11 »

As originally announced just under a month ago we've made further changes to the old [New] rank Noobstown today.

From today new players who connect will simply be referred to as a [Player] (and [P] in tab), they'll still be in the grey colour but won't be branded as being 'new' anymore. We no longer require them to register for an account for most of the perks in-game so we feel it best to reflect this with the rank. They are no longer limited by land or channel changes, etc.

These new players will now have almost all of the same perks as being a Member but obviously will be limited for several of the site features and a few things in-game related to that, but they should be considered just as welcome as any Member. We really hope you'll all embrace this change and begin welcoming the new players as though they are part of the community already and not someone who has to register to join us :). Obviously they can become a Member by registering, but this isn't required for them to be a part of the community.

There will be further changes to the tutorials and guides to reflect these changes soon.

Any feedback about this will be gladly accepted too though.

Everyone is always welcome here.  :D  So this is a nice change to make everyone feel even more included.

I think that you should make /shop as part of member so it's more of an insentive

If you read the post it explains we don't want to exclude those who aren't Members, we don't want to limit their features; the only limits that they'll have going forward are those which involve the site in some way, that's the whole point of this change: to remove any of the previous member-only exclusive features.

We want people to be able to play without having to sign up now if they don't want to, /shop is an enormous part of how to get started on the server and it would be extremely difficult to play without it, so I'm not really sure that it would be a good idea to limit that for anyone. We could maybe consider making it give less money if you're not a member, but removing it would make it far too difficult to get started when not wanting to join the site and would be a step backwards in limiting things in my opinion. If anyone else has an opinions on this though please put them forward.

I perhaps should have phrased it better, I was meaning reduced money in the /shop. But I do see your point in new members needing money
