Great news! The Chicago host is a big plus for me :)
Great news! Keep up the hard work! And everyone else play some gta 5 until the release :D
That's what I'm doing!
Updated build photos, they seem to be going faster than expected. :)
The new machine may as well be located at my house! If we need any emergency repairs call me with directions!Nerp :P
That X10SLM+-F is a tough little server mobo. Just make sure they don't plug the ssd or any other drives into the SATA 3.0 ports. We may know better, but since I work in IT, I can tell you that we should never trust 100% the actions of another IT person remotely.
What kind of pipeline is this machine being hooked to? My 50d/5u here in Texas should have a wonderful time connecting to this rig in Chicago, but I am curious to their network and how much they are allocating to the server.
/me excited!
Well that's bad news for me i cant connect to any server outside the uk my internet just cant do it. That was one reason your i loved noobs town so much the UK based server :-(
Guess its time to shout at my ISP and see if i can get anymore speed and play with my router some more i should be able to do something ive just had a new phone line installed a couple of weeks ago
Where i live the internet is rubbish its not even fibre yet so here is the best i can get will it be ok for 2 people to be online to the server and my FPS in game is very linke dto the lag from the server it show i knwo if my connection is playing up before i was getting 120+ and when i got laggy it would be like 20 which is unplayable to me so i hope its not like that all the time nowBelieve me, i have complained to Virgin Media a few times and they have always gave my net a boost, no matter how small i noticed it, Sky should do the same as well (if your still with sky, got it from the speedtest sig, not stalking you) :)

This question has probs been asked a lot..... But why has the server moved to America...
ok nice
will it stay an UK server though?
Why does no one ever host from Canada. xDSome people host from Canada, however the problem is the cost of bandwidth due to Rogers and Bell having a monopoly on the market. The Canadian Government protects them from companies coming from other countries. Also the fact is Rogers and Bell own most of the lines so even if you are getting bandwidth from NLayer you still have to pay Rogers and Bell some money. Its stupid, once was quoted $40 per Mbp in Toronto... Best thing to do is go over the boarder to the US so Seattle, Chicago, New York/Buffalo or Washington DC/Ashburn where it is much cheaper and if you have problems with DMCA then go to Europe.
The packet loss to Chicago, IL on speedtest seems to be terrible, over 15%

Compare that to London;

I can't say I am too excited about this, lol. Oh well.

Seems to be almost identical :/
Great news! The Chicago host is a big plus for me :)
Same... Chicago is only about two hundred miles from me. Will this help with lag reduction for US players?
Also, keep up the good work! Sad to hear about another delay, but I am excited nonetheless!
Indiana, so yes. :3Twisted is back? If so i have missed a lot.
They are more usa players than UK players I presume.Indiana, so yes. :3Twisted is back? If so i have missed a lot.
Also why are they hosting it in USA if they are from the UK?
Unfortunately the UK does not offer what we need, as in the past with Noobstown and recently with Apocalypse we've been hit severely by DDOS attacks; London unfortunately does not offer any form of in-house protection. Chicago offer cheaper bandwidth and in-house DDOS protection which is much cheaper than going to another retailer.
I myself, who also live in the Uk am not concerned about the move, the connection between the servers in Chicago and London is not noticeable. They are very fast. There is not need to be concerned :)
DDOS attacks are on the rise, especially within the Minecraft community which cause up to 24-48hours downtime between attacks. These can go-on for days, weeks or even months you have no way of telling how the person wants to treat your server. Having protection in place allows us to mitigate the attacks and keep the server running smooth 24/7, 365 days a year.

With all the IT people in this thread, can anyone convince my cable company to upgrade our infrastructure? Please? Our latency isn't bad, but the speeds most of you are getting make it seem like we're a decade behind in technology here...
