Server Chest Shops Search
« on: 31 May 2017, 18:06:55 »

Leading on from a suggestion made a few weeks ago about a lack of the options to find what shops exist on the server, I've added a quick and hopefully simple new feature to the site to try and improve this. It'll come to server too once I get chance if it's something that people like and find useful.

Simply by visiting https://www.noobscraft.com/shops and searching for any item in the game* you should be able to see a list of all active players' chest shops set up to both sell and buy that item on Noobstown. Using those prices it'll also give you a rough guide for the general average price of that item (ignoring the fact that some of the chests might sell unique items/enchants, etc.) and a colour coding system showing how you could potentially sneakily make some money just by buying and selling between other players.

It should hopefully be simple to use, but I'm open to any feedback, if it's something you don't particularly like the idea of, or something you'll find really useful I'd love to hear.

In other potentially exciting news the update of Noobstown to Minecraft 1.11.2/1.12 is really not far off now, so keep an eye out for that over the next few weeks ;).

Wow, this is a GREAT feature!!  This should really help out people who run and maintain shops, and the general server economy.  There are lots of times where I want to buy something, and I always want to support more-involved players, but sometimes I give up after visiting town after town trying to find valid shops they may-or-may-not be there.  /ah is still good for valuables and rares, but it's uncommon to find raw materials being listed there.  Already, this has prompted me to visit towns I haven't been to in a long time, now that I know a shop is there with items I need - excellent addition to our assortment of tools, Larry!

Oh wow, that's way more involved and detailed than I ever imagined haha. Actually being able to see each item and who sells what where... man, never expected that kind of thing.

It will definitely be helpful when it comes to finding things because it happens eeeevery time I have a project and lo and behold I don't have it stored and can't find it... now I can~

Truly awesome feature, Larry!  And you have the sell to prices too, so useful!

This confirms what I suspected ... no one will buy all those redstone blocks languishing in my basement.

On the bright side, looks like folks can profit by buying the wool at my visit and selling it elsewhere.  ;)

I love this. It is useful.
One concern-where is the link to go to this page, besides this post? In a few weeks or so, this post will fall off the front page and a player would have to know about it to find it. I was going to suggest that the link be added under Community along with the Free Chunks link, but I noticed the Free chunks link is also missing. Could these two links be added to the Community Tab?

You can find it by just doing noobscraft.com and just add /shops at the end

We know how to find it, because we know about it. But soon, this thread won't be on the front page. I'm thinking about the new players months, maybe weeks, down the road who don't know about this feature.

This is pretty cool, maybe give it it's own tab/button on the website?

Alternatively, add it to the server Tips messages in-game.  There's quite a few players who never look at the site after registering, and I'd bet a tip is easier to implement in the short term.

Yes I like your idea with the tips rueyeet. Anyway they could add it in tips and in a forum tab

This was my plan :P, I have now added it to the 'Community' tab. The 'Free Wilderness Land' has been moved to be under 'You' on the right, since they're relating to you really :P.

Great idea! I've now done this too. The plan longer term as I said above is to make a similar feature available in-game, but for now a tip sounds like a great idea.

The Website.8|

Server shop is a great very helpful and useful tool.  :P

is there a way to see how long the last time the chest shop been active?

Because some shops are outdated.

not sure if they still up.

Do you mean the old shop signs? Or do you just mean the last time a transaction took place on each sign? Or something else?
