A question for the admins in regards to 1.8
« on: 14 Apr 2014, 03:18:17 »
I'm curious as to whether or not there is any kind of timeline or action plan for the server when 1.8 arrives.  Will the server migrate to 1.8 immediately?  Will it at all?  Do you have to wait for bukkit + every single plugin you have to be updated if it does?  I'm just trying to gauge any kind of ETA for noobstown migration to 1.8 when it drops if you guys do migrate.  New blocks coming out and some build plans could include them, so I'd love to know if it would be a relatively short wait post release or if it would take a very long time.

Thanks.

As with all our updates we will be waiting until a stable compatable version of our server software is released and any appropriate plugins. From then we have no plans to delay a release for no reason? If you are referring to the name changing causing major problems we already have plans for how this will work and will be posting information about this soon.

Sorry it probably wasn't the detailed answer you were looking for but we can't control the server software releasing schedule. If I get anymore information from then, then I'll be sure to inform you. And as explained we will be posting important information about name changing soon, so look out for that.

Didn't expect a super detailed ETA but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.  Thanks for the response :D

I'm pretty sure the only reason it happened before the opening of V6 was because of the massive overhaul that was done in the latest update, making it unwise to have opened V6 at that time. Unlike then we can simply stay in the non-updated version until everything comes out. I can't imagine any reason why they would need to shut down the server now.
