abusive language
« on: 21 Jun 2013, 05:41:13 »
hi
(this message is coming from mc_mommy who is Conroy_Jenkins mother).
we have been looking for what looks to be a fun server community to join and we chose this one mainly because it says 'family' server. so we get all logged in and read the forum for rules and hints and tips and then my son types in "can i join a town" and the reply he got was "go **** yourself Conroy_Jenkins" from zach_slays and let me tell you i was not happy.
now i have to give credit to edixsabourin for jumping on it right away and saying "language please zack" and that was it.
wonderful WarriorBen informed me that most of the players are not that rude and also invited my son to be in his town and gave him money to get started....and i thank him for that.
now i normally donate to all the servers that my kids want to play at but i will certainly think twice before i do. i do not feel that just because someone donates (zach_slays) it means that they can behave that way.
oh and did i mention that Conroy_Jenkins is only 8 years old?
now i also know that this is just something that goes with the territory of being on a public server (and that is why we have our own private server for all the kids to play on) but sometimes i get so mad because no one is there to temp ban players for reasons like that.

We have a shortage of moderators at the moment and as it looks we will be getting more, if you think someone will be a problem you can always do /ignore (playername) and there chat will not show up. It's a great community, but not everyone is perfect, so if you have a problem with someone, take a screenshot, report them, and then /ignore the player. Hope I helped.  :D

yes thank you - that does help. i was trying to read all the commands about how to put a player on ignore.
i am still trying to figure out how to take a screenshot and all that (on a netbook) but am still learning.
(and since you were the one to get him right away with the language...think that is better than a screenshot sometimes) but i will try to figure it out.
thanks again.

As Edix said we do have a shortage of mods right now but with the new version we will have more mods. You can /ignore the user or you can report the user if you feel that the user is going way overboard with the language. I read that you're still learning to screenshot, but if you report a user, take screenshots they will help you as it is evidence to the mods that it actually happened. This is a really great server and I hope you stick around, you're going to find trolls and immaturity no matter where you go but with this server and the upcoming release of V6 (and new mods) it will become a better server and will keep trolls and "kids" away.

Welcome to Noobscraft btw! :)

Conroy's Mom,

This is a great server with an EXCELLENT community. At least, the regulars. Trust me, you want to keep playing on this server.

Also, you can screenshot with F2, or if you're on a Mac, go to System Preferences and go to "Keyboard", the option to enable standard F-key usage is there.

Hope this helps.

mc_mommy,

I was online last night when zach_slays acted poorly. That sort of language isn't welcome here. It is not just the mods enforcing the rules, but most of the members of the community that object as well. It is frequently new members that create these problems, not realizing that this is really family server, as mrfloris pointed out. Anyway, I am sorry that this was your introduction to Noobstown.

I see you have a mine-craft name as well. Feel free to join us when Conroy is not playing.
