Can somebody teach me how to make a town step by step and descriptively? The part I don't get the most is setting perms. I kind of get how to claim land. Just type /town claim on each block you want to claim right? I have one question. How do you know where the spawn for the town is? I read ajhl49's topic "Creating A Town Made Simpler" but it's still a bit complicated. Please comment below and do it before July 22nd (The new server as most of us know) THANKS! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

If the "Guides" that are available aren't to your understanding
why don't you contact those in the game who have
towns or have made a town before and ask them how
to go about making a town. Some people you may ask
in a PM or online:
Ajhl49(Forum ID-ajhl49): The person who made the guide on making towns.
Geoboy66(Forum ID-Geo): He is the owner of the oldest running town on the server.
BIRDMAN2121(Forum ID-Jon): He owns MorningWood, the most populated city on the server.
killerpie1(Forum ID-Killerpie1): He owned a town and is quite forum active.
One of them might be able to help you the best.

they either ignore me don't reply, say they don't know, or they're busy
-
you do town new (name of town)...make sure you do it where you want the town to be too or you will have a problem.
-

Okay we all understand I may be quite a lazy **** at times. But this is not true.
I do not ignore any players of Noobstown, it's plain rude.
I know what you said wasn't directed precisely at me but if you ask for my assistance, I won't ignore you :)

Sorry, I have been out of town all week with no internet access, if your questions haven't been answered I would be glad to help, and the thing that helped me with my town was the list of minecraft commands in the guide section. It has a list of all commands, such as, town commands, resident perms, plot commands, and even party commands. So that list will help you alot and the commands are simple as long as you have a feint amount of common sense.

i don't get how to set perms like setting perms to specific things so residents can't destroy/place blocks on it. i have no idea what to do with plots. i thought you just make a plot and create a price. help me on these things. claiming blocks must take a long time, doesn't it?
-
Claiming plots is easy because it claims in 16x16 blocks, and its easier when you type, /resident set mode townclaim and that allows you to claim as you walk, and then for perms you type, /town set perm on/off and to be specific type /town set perm [build-destroy-itemuse-switch] on/off this can also be specific to resident, like if you want a resident to be able to use switches in your town type, /town set perm resident switch on and they will be able to use switches. Hope this helps.
-
I dont get it O.o
-
What don't you get? Let my try to explain a little more. When you type /town set perm off it turns off perms for all players and all things. The only people that can build/destroy/swtich/itemuse is mayor and assistants. But if you then type /town set perm resident build on Then it allows only residents/mayor/assistant to build within the town limits. The people that can't do anything though are outsiders and allies, that is why you have to be resident specific because if you just type, /town set perm build on Then it allows for people who are not part of your town to build anywhere in town. As for plots, if you type /plot forsale it will set that plot for sale then the resident types /plot claim and they buy that land and the price of the plot goes directly into the town bank. On plots, perms do not matter, if a person owns that space, they can do anything they want. Perms only go toward the land that the town owns by itself. So if you cross over it and it says, "MorningWood : Owner : None then that plot is affected by perms, but if it says, "MorningWood : Owner : Lindatjuh then Linda can build anywhere she wants to on the 16x16 space.

Lol :D :D :D :D :D
-
what about setting perms so only mayors and assistants can build/destroy/itemuse on the blocks i want to do it on?
-
Can you clarify?
-
So only the town assistants and mayors can do things in the town with the exception of plots
-
no no no that's not it angel. i mean where you set perms to certain blocks so only town assistants and mayors can break/destroy/item-use on the blocks i want to set these kind of perms on. when i was a resident of raith wall town the moss cobble in the main lobby was locked. when i try to break it i think it says "you do not have permission to do that here" how do you do that?
-
Yeah, i think thats what angels saying...
-
it wasn't clear
-
Its what I was saying, you couldn't destroy there because it wasn't your plot. But assistants and mayors could. Its just perms.. So if perms are set, then it says, "you do not have permission to do that." But mayors and assistants can do whatever it was. You cant set it for specific blocks, but you can make it to where residents can only build or whatever, on their plots.
-
sorry im annoying you so much, but WHAT? okay, explain to me just how to set perms so only mayors/assistants can build/destroy/item-use anywhere in the town and residents can only build/destroy/item-use in their plots. they can't build/destroy/item-use anywhere else in the town. explain to me in steps like similar to this format
step 1:
step 2:
step 3:
and so on...
P.S. i might be asking the same question over and over without realizing it.
now teach me how to claim plots. what do you mean claiming plots come in 16x16 blocks? does that mean all plots are 16x16? if it is then do all plots always have to be 16x16 or can you change that to like 8x8? this time answer these questions and then use the format above. :P im giving you so much work to do
-
oh and write an explanation of what a command does if you wirte down any on the steps.
-
you can only claim 16 x 16 couss the world is made out of chunks and chunks are 16 x 16 x 16 kubiks so plots are basicly the surface of the chunks ^^
-
Yes, what Linda said. Plots are chunks of 16x16 blocks of land. So if you start a town, your town is a 16x16 chunk. Then if you walk until it says unowned then you can continue to claim the land. In steps it would look like this.
1 - /town new [town name] this starts a new town with you as mayor and the name of your choice.
2 - Add money to your town bank with /town deposit [amount] so that you can claim land because it cost money to claim new areas.
3 - Walk to another area until in the chat box it says, "unowned" Once you reach this type /town claim and it will add to your town.
4 - Continue that proccess until you either run out of money or have nothing else you wish to claim.
5 - If you want to return to town after being away type /town spawn and you will spawn to your homeblock or where you started the town.
6 - If you wish to change your homeblock type /town set homeblock and it will change to the chunk you are standing in. If I am correct it will change to where you are standing exactly and the direction you are looking.
As for setting perms with residents this has been said multiple times. But I will go over it again.
1 - Type /town set perm off this turns off all perms so nobody can do anything except mayors and residents.
2 - If you want to add residents specifically to be able to do something then type /town set perm resident itemuse on and then all perms off except for residents itemuse. So they cant build/destroy/switch but they can open chest that are not locked.
That is as basic as I can go I think..
-
It can't possibly get any simpler than that.
-
what about setting perm command so residents can only build in their plots
-
btw i understand the claiming land now
-
how do you sell plots? what's the command for selling plots and the command for when a resident takes a plot and he claims it (may not be well clarified). please use the step 1 step 2 step 3 format.
-
Justin, look at the freaking town commands in the guide section... It makes life so much easier..! And you dont set a command so they build on their plots.. If you turn perms off so that they cant build in town then the only place they can build is their plots and the wilderness. Perms do not effect plots in any way. If a person owns that plot then only mayor, assistants, and the single resident can build on that section of land.
-
i did. it's confusing i read sir s knights and jordans
-
You are beyond help.
-
If you don't understand it after all this help, I don't know what to tell you... All the information has been given time and time again in multiple instances... I am not one to give up but I have explained the same thing 3+ times and there are also guides all over the forum... I don't know how to help you any further.. Im sorry..
-
ok, here's the new plan im thinking of. how do you set perms on specific blocks so only the blocks i set those perms on can be touched by mayors/assistants. the residents can build/destroy/itemuse anywhere else in town except the blocks i set those kind of perms on. i think this is the same question as last time.
-
cause im thinking of creating these awesome things around town and i don't want anybody touching it except me and the assistants
-
You cant do anything with specific blocks so stop asking.. towny works around chunks.. 16x16 spaces of land.... The only way you can do that is with /cprivate and I believe with /cprivate [names] it allows you to add more than one person to use that block.... So let me say it again.. TOWNY WORKS WITH CHUNKS NOT BLOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
poor jon <3
-
<3 =)
-
then how did emperormyrf and ozzmancometh set perms on the fountain in the main lobby so residents can't touch them? it wasn't 16x16 more like 10x10
-
you can't do /cprivate on blocks. it only works on things like chests, furnaces, and doors.
-
Everywhere around the town u couldnt destroy, they set the perm so that residents cant destroy.
-
i don't listen to tyja's
-
then how did emperormyrf and ozzmancometh set perms on the fountain in the main lobby so residents can't touch them? it wasn't 16x16 more like 10x10
sorry I'm late to this
Ozz had bought protection for those blocks without using towny, to assure that our residents couldn't steal them.
It just happened to also be in the town is all
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! it's going to be so hard to buy the protection of the things i want to protect. it has a lot of redstone wiring and blocks everywhere
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! it's going to be so hard to buy the protection of the things i want to protect. it has a lot of redstone wiring and blocks everywhere
One cheap option would be to just buy the perimeter and seal it off, that way your stuff inside stays protected, like your circuits
-
Justin, please just try to find it out for yourself next time if you don't understand the guides. You don't always have to ask questions. I am not saying to stop asking questions i am just saying to try to find out by trying some commands or try to look at the guide again and then ask a question or two or maybe ask me or ajhl49 ingame. I would ask ajhl49 for anything to do with towny. He is my main assistant for Forthwind because he is great with towny and he knows all the commands.
-
im afraid that ill make a mistake like geo did. he accidently deleted his town
