Vanilla XP Multiplier

In the smelting skill, the vanilla XP multiplier increases the levels you get from smelting stuff.
Anyway, I've been at 2X for a while, which got me 28 levels from 32 stacks of potatoes smelted. Now, at 1395 XP required for 30 levels, and vanilla XP from a single potato being .35, the 2X making it .7, that math is roughly correct. Now, at 3X, 30 levels should come to around 21 stacks. I've tested this and only got to level 22. I did 32 stacks out of curiosity and still only get to level 28.

So, my point is, either vanilla XP multiplier is broken or there's some bug, or it's been quietly nerfed.
Please help :/

Smelting applies only to ores. ( or is supposed to from what I understand an experience in my furnaces)

Duel would be correct, the MCMMO wiki states that the xp multiplier only applies to ore, logs, and sand. Anything else won't get you any extra experience.

Probably to keep people from doing what you're wanting to: Get quick levels from easy-to-obtain materials such as potatoes.

Oh. So... my potato smelting factory base thing is useless.

Thanks for telling me, lol.

ok then, potatos are classified as easy to obtain, but logs, which can be farmed in INSANE quantities from any type of tree farm are not classified as "easy to obtain." im sorry but i cannot see the logic with this for the life of me...

I'd have no idea, I was just making an assumption since the wiki doesn't say anything about why logs work and potatoes don't.

If I had to make a better assumption I would say it's because it's turning one thing into another that's not just a 'baked' version of it.

Ore -> Material
Log -> Charcoal
Sand -> Glass

It's the only thing other that they have in common otherwise.

ok so we get multiplied mcmmo xp from logs sand and ore because (im assuming) they can be smelted into acutal ingots or something related to ore. got it.
