Making Minecraft Skin Face Avatar ?

I have always wondered how you can make a avatar with your minecraft face like some of the people on the forums got (Example Licksterboy) i kinda want this so if you know how to do it and can do it for me that would be great also if you know about a program to do it just give me a link to it and ill do it myself if you cant :)

for an easy way to do it, get a pic of your skins face, and go on paint, or any other drawing program, and just use squares to get the desired look.
