Noobstown: Business Edition
« on: 29 Jun 2012, 01:18:24 »
Looking to make some money?  Not big into building a market shop?  Do you have great minecraft talents yet to be discovered?  Well NOW might be your chance to get your name out there and start making money for yourself.

JULY 2012 PROJECT OF THE MONTH:  NOOBSTOWN INC.
(A place where small businesses can be found in 1 central location to service the many needs of the Noobstown citizens')

What does this all mean?

Construction will begin soon (upon approval) on a huge structure set to be the host to many different businesses that YOU, the citizen, comes up with.  The facility will be home to different types of business offices.  Business examples include (but are not limited to...)

*Redstone Electrician
*Woodsmith
*Armor Repair
*Glass Production Company
*Wool-smith (hey it's a word...well it is now!)
(professions outside-the-box)
*Loan Office
*Debt Collection
*Bank
*Kitchen Chefs
*Tour Guide Office

...and that's just the beginning.

When will this start?

The building of this facility has already been privately contracted through Darkgoat, Inc..  Unfortunately Darkgoat, Inc. has stated that there are no jobs available for building the facility at this time, BUT that is not to say one might not open in the near future (payment to be discussed at a later date if HIRED).  In order for this to get started a few things are needed (mainly from the Noobstown community)...

1)  If you like the idea then comment below with a *Thumbs up*, and write in what type of job you would like to do once the building is open and ready to start accepting applications for office space ownership.

2)  Have a place or town you think this building would fit best in?  GREAT!  In your comment put the area/town you think this building should be placed in (or around).  After 7:00pm Central Time (U.S.) on Friday, June 29, 2012 a tally will be taken to see which area/town this will be built in (or around).  Keep in mind if a town is chosen there will NEED to be approval from the OWNER of the town before building commences.  In addition, space will need to be designated by THE OWNER so Darkgoat, Inc. knows where the building area lies.  Also realize this project is set to be pretty big so if the space allowed is too small then the facility will have to be built in another location or town (pending approval).
*Note:  Private communication will NEED to be made with the owner of the town chosen before building commences so the Darkgoat, Inc. team can survey the area first.  If the owner of the town chosen is NOT listed somewhere in the comments below then the next area/town in line will be chosen.

3)  This project will NEED to be approved by FATNOOB before any building commences.  The facility will be delayed until approval by FATNOOB, and clearance from the chosen town's owner to build, have been authorized.

How do I get an office space?

Great question!  Here is how...

In your comment list what type of business you are looking to start up.  Once the facility has been completed you will be contacted by Trader_Jorvin to discuss if you are still interested in buying an office space and which job is available at that time.  Room sizes will vary hence so will the price for the office space.  A helpful hint, you might want to do is list different business ideas you are looking to start up.  We can't and won't have 5 people all wanting to do Armor repair.  Once you buy the office space it's yours forever (or until you sell it to someone else).  There is no tax (except any server tax plugin installed by the owner of this server), no monthly fees, just a simple 1-time payment and the space designated is all yours.  You MAY NOT break any walls set up in the space you buy.  If you wish to expand then additional space may be bought IF you actually plan to utilize the space.  Buying space just so your business is all alone will NOT be accepted.  Windows CAN be broken and moved/adjusted to your likings.

If you violate any of the rules of this facility you will be given ONE warning via private message.  You will need to correct the violation within 48 hours.  If you receive a SECOND violation you will be removed from the premisses and will NOT be allowed to own an office in the facility again.  Your space will be cleared and sold to anyone willing to own that space.

If you are unsure if a violation has occurred or if you have a question please message Trader_Jorvin.

Is that all?

YEP, that's it!  So let the comments roll in.  Give us your amazing ideas!  Hopefully in a short few weeks NOOBSTOWN, INC. can become a reality and YOU can finally have a designated place to set up shop and start making money.  Now it's all up to you...YOU, the citizen, will now decide if you wish for this project to commence...or fade away into the deep depths of "The End" world.

Begin comments now.....

Just curious to what you would do as a "Redstone Electrician", would it just be building redstone, or fixing peoples redstone?

And what is a "wool-smith", im taking its something like a blacksmith, but with wool?

Seems to be an interesting idea, hopefully it will work out. If it does, I might take a job in the loan office. *Thumbs Up*

Project has been suspended due to lack of interest.

If the project will resume, notice will be given to those interested in helping, or purchasing space once complete.

Thank You,

**Update** (as of 6/30/12)

Waiting on a few things for this project to get underway.  Need approval from Fatnoob and need a designated area to build in.  If anyone knows an area the facility might fit well in please comment below.  Darkgoat, Inc. hopes to begin building shortly.  Any job openings will be announced on this post.

I personally would love to see this going. I would totally make a Redstone Electronic Shop, as well as make and sell glass and call it MineSoft (A tip of the hat towards Microsoft and what not.)

Darkgoat, Inc. would like to thank all of you who have shown interest in this project.  They hope this project can become a reality soon in the Noobstown community.  Currently a designated area is still being decided upon.  No location has been deemed "appropriate" as of yet.  In addition, Darkgoat, Inc. would like the approval of head server admin Fatnoob before any building can commence (simple *thumbs up* in the comment section suffices).

Please keep in mind the business suggestions were just that..."suggestions"...once you purchase the office space you can make any type of business your imagination can come up with.

As always updates on this project will be posted to this thread and any questions should be directed towards Trader_Jorvin.

Thanks you

Question.

What is the difference between a Bank and a Loan Agency? Also, say I give out a loan. There is no paperwork, or proof of contract. And, there is no court system for me to sue the person with if they don't pay me. What would happen is: A bunch of noobs who registered not 20 minutes ago would take out loans and simply deny them all, and the whole thing would collapse with me a million Noobz in debt. the concept simply doesn't work without server plugins or something, or proof of contract. Perhaps once books come out we can make signed contracts, but there's still no way to collect on late loans. Not without people running to the Moderators every single time they need a loan collected on, and I don't think they want to become full-time loansharks.

Just saiyan.

Do note that if you have a solution to this problem, I am vastly interested in running a bank.

Perhaps with the upcoming writable books feature in 1.3, you will be able to log down the info about the person, how much they took, etc.

And then you could just store those book logs inside a vault for refrence. :)

Office space and prices have yet to be determined.  Still waiting to find land suitable to build the facility on.  Darkgoat, Inc. has inquired for land close to a spawn point to make traveling to/from the facility easier.

We hope to have the building phase begin on or before July 4, 2012.  Land is also being surveyed out in the "wilderness" but Darkgoat, Inc. is hesitant to build out there due to large amount of griefing.  One of their top priorities is the security of the facility to griefing.  With that said, as always, any griefing that does occur will have to be reported to a moderator or admin of the server.  Darkgoat, Inc. is not responsible for any griefing that may occur if the facility is built in the wilderness.

As we know each other pretty well, and you are a part of my town alrady, I think you might be interested in taking the whole market district within oakvale, and making this business you are talking about a reality.

Emperor_Myrf already has a redstone shop there, I am going to start building the wood shop today, and Mitch_182 already has a wool shop there.  With you, you have a general goods store, I have a archery range there, a zoo, a homeless shelter, and a repairing shop.  We could simply put in your ideas to what has already been built, and you would be in charge of it.

If that is interesting to you at all, message me back on this forum.

Thanks,

What on earth is Darkgoat, Inc? Also, how do the admins know your not just someone whos trying to trick them or something.

And how would building a business facility be tricking an admin?  Darkgoat, Inc. is the team behind building the facility and making sure everything is in working order before opening it to the public for office space purchases.  People can make any business they wish.  This is a way for people to go to one central location to find different professions that meet their needs (like how the marketplace works at the spawn).  Some individuals don't want to sell items, and that's ok.  Some people love to work with redstone, so maybe they would want to open up a redstone store where people can buy different redstone supplies or ask for redstone help if they aren't familiar with it.  Maybe someone loves to sheer sheep?  They can open up a wool shop and sell many colors to people who need the wool.  Maybe you love to explore?  You can open a travel agency and take people on tours around the server.  Maybe run into abandoned towns, or new places no one has ventured to before?  Imagination is the key here.  There are no tricks here.

Thanks

That would be a great idea. The vault could be made of ob obsidian with signs on them so they are locked and a combo to open the iron door.

Or you could do it the easy way and use a locked chest.

There is also the suggestion of finding a suitable wilderness spot and making it an outpost of a town to ward off the griefers. Not sure about the costs entailed in that and the limitations. May be somebody with more knowledge can chime in on that.

That sounds like a great idea :D That would be a great way to store information and have it readily available to others who would like to see them.
