Towns 101
« on: 3 May 2012, 04:39:19 »
I'm thinking about starting my own town, but don't know how. Can anyone tell me how to make a town, what it costs, pros and cons of having your own town, and anything else I may need to know? Thank you! 3:)

The price of a town on NoobsCraft is currently 300k, this might seem quite dear, but this price was put in to place because there were too many towns being made that weren't "proper" towns, what I mean by "proper" is too many people were making towns, as you know from my above statement, but these towns were just being left, not cared for. I see it as wasting the landscape or clogging up the memory for towns within the server files.

If you do buy a town then I recommend you learn about the "Towny" plugin. For me it was a little difficult to learn when I first looked it up, but I got help from a friend that was good at explaining things. Another thing I'd recommend is getting freindly, creative and trustworthy TAs, TA is short for Town Assistant, they're pretty similar to Mayors (The person who owns the town/the person who bought it).

If you type "/town ?" you will get a list of commands. I assure you it would be easier to go read about the town plugin itself instead of bedazzling your self with a list of commands you're not familiar with.

I really hope this helps and you succeed in making a town :)

Thanks imgoing to read it now, but still have some questions.
Do you pay 300k and that's it, or do I have to pays certain amount every so often?
How do I expand my land?
How do I make money off of this town of mine?

Once you pay the 300k, you still need to pay a sort of tax, once every in real life day, I'm not sure on how much exactly, but you'd be able to pay it easily. Once you check up on the "Towny" plugin, you'll understand what I mean when I say chunks. You claim land typing "/town claim (amount of chunks)". Chunks are certain 16x16 squares on the map, every map has them, but you just can't see them unless you use a "Towny" command or Rei's Minimap Mod.

You can earn money by selling areas of your town land, they're known as plots (It's used for people to buy a 16x16 square of land to build, usually for a house.) and whoever buys it will have to pay tax, you get to set the price of the tax by typing "/town set tax (amount)" I'm not too certain that, that is the right command, but you can will find out the right command if I'm wrong when you read up about the plugin. In my town, MapleForge, I've only made my plot price 50nbz, I'm not aiming to make money from my town because I'm able to gain money easily. You can set your plot price by typing "/set plotprice (amount)".

If there's anything else, feel free to post again and I'll be happy to help :)

The chestshop plugin is totally different plugin to Towny,  it's also hard to explain sometimes, look up global chestshops or something :S I'm not too sure.

Either read this reply or check the link Danniel1998 posted :)

It is very simple really to set up a chest shop it is just not that easy to explain it but the way you do it is

Sign Line 1: You write your name here if you want but you do not have to cause the shop will auto write your name when you done the next lines and clicked done on the sign :)

Sign Line 2: This is the Amount of items you will sell for the price that you put in Line 3 :)

Sign Line 3: Here you can type in for example B 2:S 2, B is for Buy that means people can buy the item for the price you set (Dirt for 1 noob = B 1 and Dirt on the 4th line) and S is for selling that means they also can sell the item you write on the 4th line for the amount you choice example if you want to buy a disc 11 you can write "b 0:S 100" on the sign that means you buy the disc for 100nbz.

Sign Line 4: This is where you write what you want to sell for the price at line 3 and the amount of it on line 2.

Small set up that you can use if you sell dirt for 4nbz each and buy it for 1nbz
(Name)
1
B 4:S 1
Dirt

Hope this helped you :)
