Wilderness question
« on: 26 Feb 2013, 23:31:08 »
does noobtown ever do a cleanup of the wilderness?

I walk around and see dozens and dozens of old abandoned buildings.  some are partially torn down, etc.

So I was wondering if the admins ever take them down, or offer up regions for players to farm mats etc?  Sometimes its difficult to find a decent open piece of land that is not adjacent to a town or an old building.

Just asking

Moderators don't clean up the spawn but once in awhile a good soul will go around and plant new trees and fix the random dirt holes that ever one make. You cannot destroy others houses even if they are long gone becuase that is considered greifing.

I understand griefing....but IMO there would come a time that a building that someone built in the wilderness, that is currenlty 1/2 destroyed and that user has not been back on the server for x amount of time (6-8 months) - would get wiped out.

Still just wondering from Fatnoob / admin?

I say 3 months of inactivity on both the forum and the game. That's the time I would set if I made the rule.

I played on this server for approx 1 year and 2 months, and the wilderness is yet to be "Cleaned" up by anyone really, at least not a proper official event that lots of people are in, but like Suppa said, some people can go around and make smaller parts look better, it doesn't really help tho, cause some person just gone come up and mess it all up again, that is the beauty of Multiplayer! :D

I think it was some sort of topic going on a long time ago, it was setting up a huge group of players to clean up the wildy, but this off course never happened cause of the whole breaking houses rule.

The wildy is really not the place to make look good, cause face it, a new member can easily come to the server, make a small little shack and just dig some random holes around for dirt, like every normal MC player would do, then never come back and leave his half finished house, and garden filled with holes behind.

Also, the towns are always a option, go to a town and never look back... >_>

I actually kind of like some of the "ruins" near my house in the wilderness.  It makes for fun exploring and some look pretty cool half griefed and all, IMO.  I would agree there are many areas that look like they had been nuked and i especially despise where the lake or ocean water isn't flat anymore.

I do have a suggestion.  I see many people complaining they are bored or want some one to give them work.  How about giving them an area that has been devistated for some time and let them repair the land, take down griefed structures, and have the server pay them for it (in noobs)?

There is a problem with this what if they decided to come back and find that there dirt house has been messed with and start complaining then we have a problem
