Poll About a V5 active map
« on: 16 Aug 2014, 18:52:08 »
Hey Everyone and if your here you are probably interested in having a v5 active map instead of having a museum map which is restricted

This is a poll to see how many people would like to see a version 5 map which we can acctually use and edit the older players can continue on their lives on noobstown v5 and the newer players can play in v6 or what the heck maybe even come and join us and see what we used to do in our little community

The reason for this is the older players such as myself made this server we made it strong and we made it grow we brought our friends here, we put money into this server not ingame money real hard earned money just to see this place grow and now we have lost all our old builds alot of people have settled down in v5 and i know this might sound quite nostalgic but i miss the past theres nothing i can do about it but there is something the admins can do

I want to see how many people are with me on this one i love v6 i respect the admins but for goodness sake for everything we have done for this server, this is the bear minimal request we have the software we have the new server (that everyone of us put money into), so therefor we have the resources to make this dream a reality lets show the new players how to kick it v5 style with 2 worlds that can live simultaneously together this will make the old players happy and in turn let the new guys meet the old ways

1) we can do it
2) we have the knowledge
3) the only people stopping this is people who wont speak there opinion

this poll is to let you decide lets stand together and voice what we think lets bring back Our Past and also Our contributions to this server

I hope you all care enough to make everyone happy

Hi,

I understand the rationale of this suggestion, but I have a few objections that need to be borne in mind.

First of all, reopening this world to the community will cause a huge disparity between v5 and v6 players: some players amassed a huge fortune over the last version, it wouldn't be fair for the newer players that did not have the opportunity to garner the aforementioned fortune. It would be unfair for us to widen the disparity between the newer and older players of version 6, I'm sure you would agree.

If implemented this would cause huge issues for our wild chunk system, for example a player could very easily claim another player's land and grief/steal all of the items. Furthermore there is no objective way to determine whether a player does, in fact own the land and blocks, due to the fact that we have no block logs in that world.

Finally, this would possibly cause a huge issue in the economy; we know that there is a negative correlation between the number of items in a market and the prices of said items (i.e. the more items in the economy, the lesser they sell for) either from the Auction or Noobstown Shop. This in turn would make it substantially harder to make money, thus it will make it harder for newer players and prospective town owners.

Overall, I don't think that this idea is feasible, but I do understand the personal reasoning of your suggestion.

Hope this helps.

I'm going to lock this topic as I feel that it is quite contentious and may possibly start arguments.
