Noobstown Wiki
« on: 6 Jun 2012, 14:57:37 »
I think it would be beneficial for noobstown to have a wiki page. For instance the wiki page could have mulitple guides and FAQ's on the site. It could also have the history of noobstown and the list of plugins and the commands for the plugins. I see a lot of server that have wiki pages and I think that it would be good for noobstown to have one too.

There already is one (http://noobscraft.wikispaces.com/). But that is quite outdated so if someone would be willing to make a more up to date one, then yes, that'd be great.

If I was to make an updated wiki for noobstown should I name it Noobstown after the server or Noobscraft after the website?

You should be allowed to edit the wiki as it is, I think that the person who was the original admin had it so anyone can edit it

I've been making a wiki on localhost a few days ago, and my wampserver software crashed along with the database! I'll  start repairing it now, also, I belive the admin of ghe wiki is not staff.

While wikis are a really useful way to find out information about how to do certain things, we need to ensure that information given to our players is completely accurate and correct otherwise they are likely to become even more confused. This is why up to now I have avoided having/endorsing wikis because although I know you mean good, sometimes the information that players give on their community driven wikis can easily be incorrect/inaccurate in some way.

If there is enough demand for an actual wiki then a basic one could be added to the site however it would have to be strictly moderated or access to editing would have to be highly restricted. Currently this isn't feasible; but by all means continue with your community one :).

Thanks, sorry just saw that you posted on this :), but yes I will try to make everything as accurate as possible, and try to make it simple and easy for others to understand as to not confuse people. Hopefully I can get it all worked out, and maybe, just maybe the noobstown can have its very own "Official" Wiki :D

Eh.. This Noobscraft wiki is for Noobscraft. The Minecraft wiki is for Minecraft. This wiki that Samson is creating, along with other people, is to help people with Noobscraft and the general information, not Minecraft in general.

Just to add to this, I am making it so people have a way to learn how the server works. I will have many guides and tips on the server that will help those in need. I will make things more specific to Noobscraft, more then just a information about minecraft. I will have guides on how to rank up, earn money, information on the staff, and stuff of that nature.
