Rolling out an update
« on: 29 Jun 2011, 17:08:47 »
We are swapping the server over to a different box and allocating more memory to ease the lag and hopeful fix the roll-backs/crashes. We are currently running 4gb (We was running 6 at one point) and we are now going to 8gb so should be much quicker. Thanks for the patients and I hope to see you back online soon.

Theory:

Our theory is that this map is so big and the towns are so spread out over a huge area this can cause huge lag, if you are in an area you are loading out chunks. If all the players are spread out in the world that means mass loading of chunks and the memory was having a hard time keeping up with the people and the chunks. This is why we have decided to upgrade to improve stability and game play.

Connection IP: 69.175.96.60 or Noobstown.com

Second theory:

Our second theory if the memory does not fix the issues is that a plugin is causing a memory leak, when the memory hits a certain low point it refreshed back to the original amount and flushes the chunks. Our world was not currently refreshing the memory it would just drop rapidly hit 0 and crash. This could be a memory leak or just lack of memory.

We will continue our testing over the next week or so please bare with us.

Thank you Joe! Double the memory should do the trick. What about that 'new era' announcement? Will the whole world start again? Or do you not want to spoil anything?
