Under self-imposed motivation thing
« on: 18 Oct 2012, 21:35:27 »
Heya folks. I'm imposing a motivation program on myself; I confess I spend more time playing MC than earning real money through my online job. The mechanics are simple--for each minute I spend on my online job, I get to spend twice as much on Noobstown. (My job requires me to be on for at least 15 minutes at a time). I'll probably be wood-chopping or blaze-farming or sheep-shearing when I'm on.

I'll try to be focused and mostly leave Gen Chat, so if I don't respond to your GenChat messages, do /msg ummfredfelizco or /tc or /nc as appropriate.

And if I leave abruptly, that's because my time's up and I have to earn more Noobstown time by getting on my job again :) which is kinda similar to being a responsible Noobstownian. I get to chat with young people on the Internet about their homework problems. :P

Anyways. If I keep this up for some number of days (at least one day?) I plan to reward myself with VIP privileges! So, banzai to me :D

Ha! This scheme worked out, but for only about a week. I realized 1:2 was too much of a reward. But now I try to find other means to be productive.

One does not simply ...become productive through self-motivation

I talked to some friends (which is sometimes what we all ever really needed) to try to get *le support group*. (I know, this all seems to be a bit too personal. My aim is to present a glimpse of the grown-up world to young readers, and how older folks solve their own problems irl).

I went to the bowling alley/arcade last night with some friends. Went and played some Time Crisis 4, then I realized something. I'd pay around $5 for a game that wouldn't even last 10 minutes, but I've spent hours on Noobstown! Didn't add up, so I went ahead and bought points here. Besides, I already had over 1000 from Noobween :). I now have enough for [VIP], but I am not going to buy just yet. I'll wait for a period when I'll have tons of free time. Which probably won't be until December.

I recently went through the topics under the "Other" forum category, and realized that several Noobstowners have declared that they'll take a break. Be gone for a week, or a month, due to work/vacation/camp. So I guess it's not uncommon to do just that, if I feel like I need to.

*le sigh* Ohh, adult life. Quarter-life-crisis. Meh. Gotta press forward.

Ohh!

And about the siggy; it's hyperlinked to the Memebase topic, which is being updated occasionally :)
