Well, it`s better than most of the other Singleplayer-Fantasy-roleplays out there (i.e. Risen or TwoWorlds ).
But I guess it`s also a question of how many of these games you have played before.
Over the years there have been so many of these games, there is rarely a real surprise left in the story or gameplay. Somehow it`s always an unwilling hero, some romances, an enemy (in most cases at least one traitor working for them, what a surprise) ... after a while you could even predict where the next sudden ambush or fight is going to happen. There seem to be no real surprising Stories anymore. Some games could make up for it with a new setting and really good characters like RedDeadRedemption, but another game about Dragons, Bandits and such? Nothing really new there. Even MassEffect3 lacked real surprises despite being a good game. The last game I really enjoyed was for some reason FalloutNewVegas, maybe not the greatest story but at least not the usual Dragon or evil Warlocks again and you could choose which side would be your villain (depending on whose propaganda you believed).
Somehow I become more addicted to games like Shogun2 (Fall of the samurai) or Civ5 (the new addon

) lately, that don`t really have a real story too follow. They only follow or rewrite histroy (in case of Civ rewrite it in a sometimes twisted way where the polynesian armie starts to pound dutch cities with gatlingguns).
Would be nice to have a game with a really new story again, but I can`t really think of an upcoming game that might promise that.
