- The Map, it's a mess. We hold our hands up and say that the anti-griefing systems put into place were too late in the version and the current tools which Staff are using to tackle this are awful. The battle to fight griefing in v5 is a losing battle and it's highly stressful for our current staff. Implementing the Version 6 grief system now would not work. The version 6.0 grief system will A. Record all natural data of the world, chunk by chunk. B. Players can only build on bought land, this is in both wilderness and the town world (Town plots etc.) C. When a player becomes inactive or is permanently banned the system will grab the original natural data from this first recording and re-generate the land.
I'm sorry, what? Players can only build on bought land, this is in both wilderness
... players can only build on bought land in the wilderness. The wilderness. I mean, I guess this makes use of the mining world and whatnot, assuming that crosses over. I'm going to miss having a personal mine under my house. I'm going to trust you on this one. Extra notes:
- " Let's say someone finds diamond under one of those 16x16 chunks. You mine that out, then go back to the top and wreck it. A mod resets the chunk, you go back and get your diamonds, wreck the top, etc. There's no real rule being broken here (as far as I know). It's wilderness land, you're able to destroy it as you please. If they didn't want you destroying the land, they'd lock it."
We have already thought of the potential cheating which could happen with our Chunk based land system, however the problem you have stated above has been covered. When a plot is first bought (The very first owner) they will have access to every single unique block from Coal to Emeralds, Diamonds and Lapis. It's all yours, once you finally decided to reset the plot or leave it all ores will be replaced by stone.
P.S Mods don't reset plots anymore, it's automated. Their time will be spent looking after you all, not the server functions itself.
Now that I know you can only build on bought land now, have you put any thought into a guy or group of guys who would buy out all the land around the spawn and just make it a giant pit? Just thought I'd throw in some more speculation to it. Maybe it's been explained somewhere before, but I'm a bit lazy to search for it. For people with a veteran status. Will we have to earn our status again, or is it kept forever?

But why the reset, indeed? Why reset the map: This current 8000-by-8000 map has been around for over a year now, and we have ravaged, built on, and rebuilt on it and now some spots are wastelands, as MM mentioned. The V6 map will be three times larger, and have an anti-grief system.
So the area around the spawn gets ravaged again, we have to reset because of that. Potentially, it doesn't really matter what's 8000 blocks away from the spawn. If the spawn gets wrecked enough, something's gotta change. I would like to think an anti-grief system could be implemented at any time without need for a total reset. Why reset the money: A new buying/selling system will be introduced to make the economy more balanced and in-control. Towns will start off at a lower price. Why reset the skills: Since the skills are tied heavily to economy (double drops and such), it only makes sense. Veterans will have a one-month double XP period at the onset of V6. The items people have are also tied with economy, so they'll be reset for the same reason. People can use V6 Tokens to purchase items or Veteran rank (at a steep price).
I can somewhat agree with these, but I'm really iffy about any of them. Late edit: The V6 anti-grief system allows the restoration of a griefed area without resetting the map, so this new map will be around for a long while.
Going to use that area outside of spawn as an example again. Let's say someone finds diamond under one of those 16x16 chunks. You mine that out, then go back to the top and wreck it. A mod resets the chunk, you go back and get your diamonds, wreck the top, etc. There's no real rule being broken here (as far as I know). It's wilderness land, you're able to destroy it as you please. If they didn't want you destroying the land, they'd lock it. That's just my thought on it, though. It's a little far fetched, but it could potentially happen.

Goon has already hinted that for a limited period of time there will be a portal to the v5.9 map, so we can show off what we built and be able to recreate those things in v6.
Why does it have to limited? Why not just keep the map up? Loco! Long time no see. Quick question, will you be helping with MorningWood or just going to be out on your own?
I'll be helping with MorningWood, can't just abandon you guys. There is been quite a lot of topics about people not liking the restart.
Go on the top and look at the "V5.9 Map" tab, and you can see 1 of the reasons why it is getting restarted, the map looks horrible, anything that isn't a town is just floating trees, or sandstone deserts, the new version will change this and fix it, and you can read more about the exact changes in more detail here: http://www.noobscraft.com/server-announcements/the-next-generation-of-noobscraft!/
Okay. So the map looking bad because of looting is reason to just reset everything. Every item will be gone, every skill back to 0, Noobz back to whatever the starting amount is. Absolutely nothing to carry over? We can't, at the very least, be able to fill our inventory or nether chests with items we would want to keep for the transfer? At least then maybe we could start rebuilding our things and not have to farm the materials all over again from scratch? And then once the next map looks bad, we'll just reset again and again and again? I just think there has to be a better way to do this than everyone goes back to 0. EDIT: So yeah, I'm not really opposed to having a map change, it's just that we lose everything again.

So why not let us just have the map? I get that it's a new version, but why does everyone have to start over? It just doesn't make much sense to me.
It's like what was even the point of V5, literally nothing we did mattered. Skills being reset, buildings gone, items gone. Maybe you made some friendships, but still. Is it going to be this way for V7, too? Why even work towards anything in V6 if it won't matter for the next version?
Just some thoughts. This is basically just my rant thread at this point, I'm pretty disappointed. : P
Honestly, I'll still be playing V6. But it's just this will just stick in the back of my mind.

Basically my thought is to save the current map in version 5 for when version 6 comes around. Offer the ability to go to this map as a VIP/Veteran/Donator whatever. You already have portals to other specific worlds, like the mining world.
Probably a dumb suggestion, but might as well have posted it instead of nothing.
