Recently whilst fishing, I have noticed that often I have received random wooden/stone items. As the fishing level increases, I'm pretty sure the rate of finding treasure increases. Eventually though, it becomes slightly annoying, as I find fish more important than the wooden/stone items.

Instead of retrieving such treasure, I personally feel it would be better to retrieve iron, perhaps even diamond items, but at a very rare rate for example - 1/100 catches = diamond shovel.

I feel this would be better than 5/10 catches = leather tunic/wooden pickaxe.
