« on: 2 Mar 2014, 09:02:52 »

Wow, I can't believe the exterior is finally complete.  :)  After many hours of mining/searching for materials, building and re-building I can finally focus on the interior!

Just an update since earlier.  1st story is done!  Also, looking for neighbors looking to move into the area that have similar build interests.  Would like to establish a modern community out here.

I use an Asus Republic of Gamers G74SX-DH71.  All-around great gaming laptop which is a couple of years old but still current with today's gaming units.  I've had 0 issues with it, and have always been able to play any game with max/ultra settings with no issues.  I've only upgraded the storage and RAM, everything else is stock.  I bought it as a demo unit from Best Buy for $600, which was a great deal considering it had 0 scratches or dings, and this model was initially $1299.

Specs:

*Intel Core i7-2670QM
*NVidia GeForce GTX560M - 3GB
*16GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 ram
*dual Seagate 500GB SSHD hybrid drives
*Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

There is the (dreaful) scottish slang word "Gajy"
meaning: friend, someone you know
example: Oy, gajjy's aff tae the park, comin en? haha
No no no no, you only call someone a gajjy if they're a mink, in other words someone who doesn't keep them self hygienically clean. o.o

[EDIT]: Can be used in a joking term to though.

LOL, mink, that's awesome.  And I always just thought it was in reference to a small ferret-like animal. :P

Server Announcements / Re: November Update!

I totally agree and support what the team is doing. Instead of a 'now' fix, it's always good to stand back, take a look at the big picture and think of how the decisioning, even the smallest of things, affects future state.

After a proper and successful 1.7 conversion I'm sure there won't be any regrets.

Since the Noobscraft community is extremely diverse, I thought it would be interesting to see how word usage may differ from each age group, region, or continent.

Post a unique word, phrase, or slang term which you find interesting and/or funny, as well as post the meaning and usage of it.  Please keep it clean, and within the site rules.  8)

EXAMPLE:

Word/Phrase:  "Fixin'"
Meaning:  Getting ready to do something
Usage:  "I'm fixin' to leave to go to the park"

GO!

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Villagers
« on: 12 Oct 2012, 15:39:34 »
So, I got to thinking about emeralds and villagers, and that villagers won't spawn due to exploitation. Here is what I came up with:

Mojang had the right idea about villagers and trading, but I think their execution is poor. Emeralds are not the only thing villagers would be interested in. If I was a villager, I would want iron, gold, diamond, and emeralds.

If the villagers traded each of these items, it could trade for things of comparable value. It could be the same items, but maybe stacked more. Wheat, wool, bread, leather, and heck, even other items. An emerald could be worth 2 diamonds, for example. Vise versa. Still, keep it random, but this would solve the exploit problem.

Obviously, this would need to be made as a bukkit plug in. I don't know of one that exists right now. It doesn't sound like a complicated coding project, but if I made it, would you guys consider using it on the server? I think it would be neat to have villagers on the server to trade with.

I definitely agree with the statement that the villagers were poorly executed.  The trade values of emeralds are much more than the items you recieve in return such as cookies, wheat, etc.  As far as a plugin, I have seen a couple that reference customizable NPC shop creation, which seems much more realistic than chest shops in my opinion.  I only wonder how you keep them in a static location without blocking them, as they move around alot.  With multiple NPC's in an area such as a market, this would make it more difficult to find the shop you are looking for.

Hi,

Are moderators or admins able to move spawners?  I currently have one that will need to be relocated.  Is this possible?

This seems to be an issue regarding the new patch.  I am not currently having this issue with my NVidia card  but I have found a fix for your Intel card.

This fix requires installing Explorer Suite  (http://www.ntcore.com/exsuite.php)

Steps:

Before anything, make sure you backup your original SC2 exe file because the next time you patch Starcraft 2 you will need the original exe.

1. Open CFF Explorer and then use it to open your SC2 .exe file.

2. Go to the "File Header" section (under Nt Headers) and click the "Click here" on the Characteristics row.

3. Check the "App can handle >2gb addressest" box, then click OK

4. Go to "Save as", and then rename your existing SC2.exe (for backup)

5. Save the current version as SC2.exe, and voila, the game now won't crash when it's memory space gets too big (you still might want to restart occasionally if you have 4GB of ram or SC2 will push all your other programs out of memory)

This has been done for Firefox, World of Warcraft and Sims 3 before to prevent crashes, so it is known to be safe

Let me know how this works out for you.

How you turn it on/off depends on what graphics card you have in your PC.  Do you know what brand of card you have?

Are you running on patch 1.5?  If so, you may try turning VSync on in the gfx options, if it is not already.

You don't even have to know the girl to ask her out on a date or for her number... I'm sure she'll be flattered anyway, even if she says no.

This is true
