Googleadds are not necessarily linked to your online activities.

You can see their priorities while picking an add for you like this:
1. They have enough data on your online activities that you have a trackingprofile that allows to send you ads fitting to said activities.
2.  If they do not have any or enough data on your activities they will show an ad that fits the profile of the site you are watching (like goldfarming/powerleveling-services on WoW related sites).
3. If neither you nor the site have a fitting profile they will pick an ad from the unprofiled list (which in many cases are datingservices, medsellers, dubious creditsservices and such things). Or simply the ad for googlead itself.

So it might actually mean that some are simply not that easy to track in your activities as people who get more fitting ads.

And if you get a decent securityprogramm with an addblocker or a good standalone adblocker (carefull to not pick a "free" one of dubious websites you don' t know, that might be hidden malware) you won' t see anymore google-ads.

Shark week? Sounds like something on Discovery channel US. Discovery Asia only shows a few glimpses of that.

Where do you guys see any advertisments on this forum?

Yama: 108k in the bank, 6 residents
Yunaiteddo: 64k nbz, still 5 towns (Netherforst, MorningWood, Yama, Mapleforge, Empire - the rest went over to Ravenhelm which has now 11 towns)

I assume you have already tried downloading and reinstalling the current versions (deleting the old ones before that) of Minecraft 1.3.1 and Java to get rid of the error, so I can' t give you a tip on that error.

Noobstown General / Re: Wood for the Noobs!
« on: 8 Aug 2012, 11:44:14 »
Trees make leaves.  (But there are no trees around the spawn, so the process stops there already)
Saplings come from leaves.
Saplings can be planted in dirt.
I changed the order of your post a little so you might see the problem (put trees first, instead of leafes.).

Towns & Nations / Re: Overpriced upkeep
« on: 4 Aug 2012, 09:54:41 »
The new townprices make sense for me.
I'm just not sure about the higher cost for using the tp to townspawns. For new players with little money who don' t want to live in the wilderness, hese prices could mean that they can't really look around the towns to pick one they like.

I was the first one to start with the whole enchantment on weapon/armor for sale stuff, Achmed then also did it then more people started doing it :3 don't think they got it from me but I was the first one to have it at my small shop in Netherfrost ^^ At least of the people I know of.
And your point is?

Towns & Nations / Re: List of Towns Known
« on: 31 Jul 2012, 08:55:49 »
Yah, just go up to the top here to "Community" and click "Game Stats". It gives the top ranked towns in Population Numbers and Wealth.
Be carefull not to mistake these statistic for a "Top Ten list" of any sort. Numbers and wealth are deceiving statistics. A town might have high numbers in residents but once you look around it you might discover that some plotowners havn' t been on for ages (in some cases owners of only halffinished buildings that are now merely unfinished ghostplots). So the number of residents is not necessarily a sign for a very active community.
And for wealth you should also take in account 2 other factors. First the number of outposts, each outpost costs 50k. A town that has invested in 8 outposts for the residents to use has 400k less than a town without outpost. These 400k are not in the statistic but unlike the dead money in the bank the residents can already benefit from this money (in form of the outposts).
The second point to see in regard of a towns wealth is the financial reserve in form of the Mayors and TA' s wealth and their willingness to donate money for the town. TA's with lot of nbz and the willingness to donate mean that a town has much larger reserves than the statistic might show on the first glance.

As for the list that started the topic. That list is indeed a little short (btw. Buckfast_abby was renamed a while ago). If that is all you have seen so far you are missing quite a bit of the server so far. You might want to consider making a /town list roundtrip as one of your future honeymoon-trips.

I think his project is a singleplayer project you can' t join.

Hm, the main problems/questions of most new members seem to be always the same.

How do I get out of spawn? - Noobstown is big and can be a little confusing at first. A few simple signs at spawn saying "Exit to the wilderness" or something like that would fix that.

Why can`t I build here? - The protected area around Noobstown is kinda large and there are a few ruins inside it (the radius od the protection might have been extended one). Someone new might now assume that he/she should already being able to build around these ruins. Simple fix: A road leading from the gate straight to the wilderness with a simple sign "Follow the road to the wilderness where you can start playing" and a simple gate at th end "Welcome to the wilderness". Enhanced fix: A few signs along that road that explain the concept of towns and the commands "/town list" and "/town list townname" and things like the miningworld; like an extended guide on some of the serverfeatures.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: VIP

Add a thing where you can buy VIP for a year.
Each purchase stacks, so to buy a year simply buy 12 month.

« on: 14 Jul 2012, 22:20:11 »
Well, it`s better than  most of the other Singleplayer-Fantasy-roleplays out there (i.e. Risen or TwoWorlds ).
But I guess it`s also a question of how many of these games you have played before.
Over the years there have been so many of these games, there is rarely a real surprise left in the story or gameplay. Somehow it`s always an unwilling hero, some romances, an enemy (in most cases at least one traitor working for them, what a surprise) ... after a while you could even predict where the next sudden ambush or fight is going to happen. There seem to be no real surprising Stories anymore. Some games could make up for it with a new setting and really good characters like RedDeadRedemption, but another game about Dragons, Bandits and such? Nothing really new there. Even MassEffect3 lacked real surprises despite being a good game. The last game I really enjoyed was for some reason FalloutNewVegas, maybe not the greatest story but at least not the usual Dragon or evil Warlocks again and you could choose which side would be your villain (depending on whose propaganda you believed).

Somehow I become more addicted to games like Shogun2 (Fall of the samurai) or Civ5 (the new addon <3) lately, that don`t really have a real story too follow. They only follow or rewrite histroy (in case of Civ rewrite it in a sometimes twisted way where the polynesian armie starts to pound dutch cities with gatlingguns).

Would be nice to have a game with a really new story again, but I can`t really think of an upcoming game that might promise that.

You might still be too close to the protected area outside of the spawn-town. You could try moving farther out and check if you can mine blocks there.

This seems to be a common issue with many new players, maybe there should be a road that leads all the way to the Noobstown/wilderness-border to lead new people out of this protected area.

Towns & Nations / Re: Oakvale (unofficial recruiting post)
« on: 29 Jun 2012, 00:04:40 »
Adding one point Fish_james forgot to mention. Because Oakvale is in the same nation as DragonFire you as a resident of Oakvale would also get access to DragonFire`s assets like the NationMobspawner (allied towns even have the possibility to claim an outpost in a tunnel next to the spawner so their residents can get there with a simply chatcommand).

And 200 noobz every day (real day, not mc-day). If your townbank has less than 200 noobz when the taxes are collected it will loose the town-status.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Nation Section
« on: 7 Jun 2012, 09:13:19 »
I think that would be very handy for Draconia as well. It would make it easier to pass informations like the nationfarms (and how to get there) or the 3 nationxpgrinders on to other members of the nation, as well as inform about recent changes and ideas.
