If you want to save money, using newegg helps.  You have a much larger selection of components to choose from, most of them will be cheaper, and shipping on 50% of things on newegg are either free or pretty cheap.  You'll save bunches of money on shipping alone and a decent amount on the bottom prices they tend to have.  You'll also have access to pretty extensive reviews and ratings and a solid interface to sort and filter for what you're looking for.   The difficult part, if your first pc, is knowing what to look for.  You can use that list you created as a reference and build from it, or s**** the whole thing and learn the form factors that make x compatible with y and z.

I'm betting if you found all those parts or something similar on newegg the cost would be less.  They always have specials and sales and the most popular items (which are usually the most dependable) usually get discounted.

If I had any suggestions it would be to bump up to 16GB RAM if you can.  8GB is not a lot nowadays.  Also if available maybe try the 7770 instead of that 66 series you chose.  I don't think the price difference is radically different but the performance is.

Agreed.  I think the date needs to be static and a bit of warning within 24 hours would be dandy.   If the date and time were set in stone though, there would be no need for warning, it could just be posted publicly and spammed like once every 15 minutes or so as an advert.  Seems like something has to be done manually and busyness has prevented it from happening on schedule in the past.  Maybe this is something that can be reduced to running a script under supervision?

Just spitballing since I really don't have a clue what the reset process involves exactly, but it seems the solution here is just to nail down a precise date and time (like the 1st of each month at midnight) and a delivery method where it can't get pushed to the backburner and causes minimal downtime.

just to make this clear this seems to be a mojang issue, not a server issue. So hopefully Mojang works to get this problem dealt with. Thank you for your patience!

Odd.  I can get on another server okay.

This server downtime makes me realize how horribly addicted to this game and this server I really am.

Do you have any mods installed?

Do other servers let you join okay?

In your minecraft folder check for any errors in the log folder under your logs for the date/times when you join the server.  Minecraft usually does a good job of logging crash errors.

Services are closed due to business.

Hey Everyone!

I play this game while I work and I'm on like 12 hours a day if not more so I get bored and end up searching for ways to utilize my time a lot and end up doing odd jobs for people pretty constantly.  For this reason I figured I'll start to offer my services as a business!  Below is a list of services offered.

Prices are always 100% negotiable and payment is whatever we both agree is fair.  I do large scale and small scale projects and I am open to pro-bono work if the situation seems justified.  I've been known to clear plots to bedrock at no cost if I like the town and its owners.

Services:

  • - Clear a chunk to bedrock:
I can mine a plot to bedrock in pretty much any amount of time required.  At fastest I think I can hammer out a plot in 8-10 hours depending on how many levels it is.  That would be considered a rush order.  At a more relaxed pace I can do 24 hour turn around time pretty easily.  If actual payment is not possible I'll usually do a more lax schedule of a few days to a week depending on my business with other projects, with payment consisting of just the blocks I mine up on the chunk.

  • - XP Sales
I can power level to 30 or whatever is required and enchant / vanilla repair whatever is requested.  I can probably get 0-30 in 10-15 minutes upon request.  Prices negotiable.

  • - Object Farming
I can farm whatever you need me to farm by the stack or by the hour for negotiable or static rates.  mob drops, building materials, gems, etc.  If you need it and can't be bothered, I can get it.

  • - Plot Scouting
Want to build a plot in a specific biome or near a specific natural resource?  I'll find an ideal location for you for a static price.  Can include scouting out places like Nether Fortresses for you to farm yourself.

  • - Build Projects
Need walls built?  A whole room dug out and walled?  A tower to the sky?  A dragon?  A sw@nky swimming pool?  Just some help placing blocks laboriously?  We can negotiate a price based on the size of the project and the time restraints.  Provide me materials and I'm on my way!

  • - Build Consultation
Hit a creative wall?  Need some inspiration or a fresh set of eyes on a build project?  I'll brainstorm with you on project themes, practicality, hash out project layouts, spitball ideas, research on function, whatever you need.  Prices negotiated based on how useful you feel I am and scale.[/s]

As always, all prices are fully negotiable and may be eligible for pro-bono if it's a project or cause I feel compelled to help with.

If you're only playing 100 hours on the server in the entirety of your minecraft career, what in the world do you need more free plots for?  You can't build more than 10 plots worth of stuff both vertically and horizontally in that amount of time.

I like the idea, but the rate would have to be SUPER low.  Like 1 free chunk per 100 hours of playtime just as a neat little bonus for server loyalty.

Anything more than that would decimate the wild.

What is your favorite thing about Minecraft?

I love the openness of it.  I'm a big fan of roleplaying, RTS base building type game, and sim games and minecraft seems to be a wonderful combination of that.  Also the modular nature of it makes the possibilities of it endless, which is exciting to me.  I love to build bases and be creative and Minecraft gives me a world to take on a role and experience my creativity in a unique way.

Why do you want to be a part of Skyside?

Skyside makes my mouth water.  The combination of carefully planned architecture with aesthetic pleasantness is wonderful to me.  It's the embodiment of my favorite minecraft aspects: the ability to create beautiful things painstakingly thru planning and inspiration.

What sort of team experience do you have in life or in video games?

I've been part of a guild of people who play MMO's for some years now.  I've had bouts of playing WoW for years at a time, and I tend to go all-out when it comes to finding a game with a large amount of depth and creative freedom.

In life, I play dungeons & dragons on a weekly basis at a local comic shop, which involves building relationships with strangers and creative roleplaying in a public setting.  Before I moved to California recently I would play DnD with my IRL friends several times per week, in both player roles and Dungeon Master roles.

Even in my gaming infancy, with games like Subspace: Continuum, I would get heavily involved with community based gaming.  In Subspace I owned and created a server for some time in which I managed a staff of moderators and developers to create content for myself and others to enjoy.

Give us an example of your building skills (a screenshot uploaded to imgur.com would suffice!).

Please visit my home in the wild for an example.  I do not think a screenshot will do my foresight and attention to detail justice.  I am new to minecraft but I think my wild home shows the potential I have for extreme creativity in the game.

If you are admitted, do you promise to give your best effort in making our town and our community an awesome place to live and visit?

As a person who believes that, in games like Minecraft, community is the strongest aspect and driving force, I would do my utmost to make the town the best it can possibly be.
