I think the most profitable way to go is a Fortune 3 Unbreaking 3 Efficiency 5 diamond pick. It is still one item and it will generate more diamonds than a single diamond block. 
But where you gone get the diamonds when you can only bring 1 thing? :p
Start up a large business where people bring me the ore and I give them a slight increase from what they would usually get. Hoarding the surplus I would bring an enderchest. Of course I would also leave behind a full enderchest so I could get all this stuff throught the enderchest I took with me.
The other enderchest wouldn' t be filled with Diamonds though. I' d fill it with things like blazepowder, endstone, redstoneore, endereyes, ghasttears, netherwarts ...; stuff that doesn't exist in the real world and therefore would be worth billions for laboratories, companies and probably goverments (way more worth than casual diamonds).
however Alba's idea surely triumphs over mine. That's serious money and breakthroughs in science. Might end up finding a way back into the minecraft world...(aka whole new world of resources for humanity to strip from)

How many hours per day: Usually 3 hours for a weekend and 7+ for a weekday.
Why you want this role: At times I see moderators get overwhelmed with questions about Noobstown or reports of grief. Usually there are few (0-1) moderators online when I am logged in, more if I am staying up late. However, I hope I could help maintain the family-friendly atmosphere that has made this server flourish into what it is today. In conclusion, I would like to give back to Noobstown and it's community. There have been many joyous moments for me here on Noobstown thus far, and my goal is to keep them coming for all of us.
Past experience: None just yet to be absolutely honest. Although it is opportunities like this that I seek to change it.
Time zone: Central U.S.
Additional information: I abhor offensive language. It is the main thing I get worked up about.

Unofficial towns are absolutely fine. As long as they don't turn up hundreds of grief reports a month, they do a great deal to help our newcomers gain a sense of the friendly community here in noobstown. It would be best, however to try and save up for the official status and protection.

Coming from a slightly(or extremely) biased opinion, it would be best for an limited small number of unofficial towns. They lack the grief protection and many other towny benefits. Leading to a ton more grief reports and a large load of things to fix, burdening our already busy moderators and admins.
