AdrianCavi, I believe that in the past work was done on the spawn while the server was up and open, they could and probably will this time to, so no need to look at the same spawn for a couple of years and no need to have a uberspawn right at the start.
Baatus, asking people not to complain when they are not happy about something seems a bit shortsighted. "rubbing it in does not help", correct as in : "they will not drop there efforts and change their plans just because people complain or are frustrated". But thats not at all the intent of my comments. I and perhaps others would just like to let them know, this is not the path I would like to see for the server. I am sure Joe and the others are delighted when they get compliments, but I am also sure they can handle the negative responses to, after all the server can only benefit from community feedback, even when its negative. Positive and negative reactions could, or in my view should enable the team to make better decisions.

1.7 was a huge milestone for Mojang and a lot of their code has changed, this has resulted in delays with Bukkit because they have to catch up on all those changes. I'm sure they are working as fast and efficiently as possible, but for now we are waiting patiently for the release of a 1.7 build. Once released, we can prepare for our v6 launch (finally!).
I can not get my head around the fact that the release of V6 is in fact put in the hands of a 3rd party..... We are excited to share the new server with you all, after months and months of development it literally feels like a life-time since things were normal here at Noobstown. Anyway, we do hope you all have a wonderful Halloween and don't try to miss us too much.
I am sure V6 wil be awesome, But I for one would have preferred a 'little less awesomeness' over a speedier release. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate all the hard work but I feel for V6 more time was spend on getting it superduper then was necessary. The previews look amazing, loads of work and lots of hours must have gone into it, it shows, but maybe its a bit much at the current price it comes at. (read 'downtime') Small competition
We want to see your most scariest Halloween skins ~ Post below your skin and a small description about it!
Nice distraction, but not what I was hoping and waiting for. I am sorry that this post is negative, I am not often like that, but frustration is getting the better of me.

Of course data can be duplicated but you need someone to work on it after that >_> The admins can't do both things at the same time. If it was that simple they wouldn't even need to take down V5 to begin with.
They decided to physically move the server to the US, and re-use it there for V6, thats why it had to go down. They could have opted to go about differently, say, order a new server in the US, install the software, start building and testing, whilst the community plays on the V5 server in the UK. Once satisfied with the new V6 server they would only have to announce the new IP and do a DNS change. The pro's are clear, the cons to : Running dual servers cost dual money en needs dual time manage all that. So your right, but not exactly for the right reasons, I think.

I apreciate the feedback Joe, thank you. Lets agree that we disagree, and celibrate that we live in a world where we can. You call the shots and I don't envy you for having to do so. Hope to see you soon on V6 !

Let me start by saying I am glad not to be in the admins shoes, must have been a tough call. But I do feel its the wrong call..... Pushing back the already delayed release of V6 and making it dependent on the release of 1.7 is a major letdown, to me anyway. I say, just release V6 using 1.6.x with the tested plugings, dont let all that test work go to waist. Then inform the community that 1.7 will be implemented at a set date somewhere in December. That buys you time to test 1.7, even if if its delayed by Mojang or Bukkit and allows the community to play the long awaited V6. Having a day, or 2 downtime in December is more acceptable, to me anyway then having to wait longer now. Not to mention missing out on Noobsween. I feel to many promises are broken with this decision, and I am left disappointed.

I would have preffered a european based location, but hey, lets wait and see. Speedtest show it might not be that bad.... All the way from The Netherlands :

Building with your friend "Z", claiming 64 chunks
- - -X--Z- -X--Z- -X--Z- -X--Z- -X--Z- -X--Z- -X--Z- -X--Z- -X--Z- -X--Z- - -

30 chunks with some minor risks on the left flank
---- -XXXX- ---X- ---X- -XXXX- ----
X = claimed plot - = reserved plot in your name.

You need to claim the chunks smart if you want to max you area. You would not be able to build in all chunks right away, but no one else would be able to claim them either. I am assuming only chunks connected at the 16 block long borders will count, not the chunks connected at each others 1 block corners. And assuming all 10 chunks need to form 1 layout. (if not you could 'claim' 90 chunks!)
Claimin your plot like this would leave you with a possible 26 Chunks :
---- -XXXX- -X--X- -XXXX- ----
X = claimed plot - = reserved plot in your name.
There might even be better patterns ?

Yes I understand, its called privacy, everybody has a right to it. Although, in this digital world, sometimes privacy is hard to find. The server map should also give you an idea of whom is nearby, in the overworld.

Why not just drop to local chat and ask whomis near you ? Those that want to respond can then do so.....

I have suggested that they rename the V5 Veteran rank to 'Patron', wich in my view better represents the way V5 veterans got their rank. In the end it all up to those in charge, lets all stay calm, wait and see.

One of the things I am looking for in V6 is being able to walk for day through the wilderness and not seeing any signs of occupation. With the new 2 world system chances are big that the wilderness will stay 'wild' for much longer so everybody can enjoy it. I dont think theres an untouched chunk left in the current wilderness and that keeps me from roaming round... I mis that....

People are about to lose milions in a few weeks time, spending these amounts is peanuts now.

Meh, I dont really like the guy. The look on that face, so grumpy... I tried socializing but he keeps going on and on about that book, seems almost religious. Nope, don't care much for him.
In fact, some admin should step up to him, perhaps kick or ban him, after all, he's trading outside the market district. And I am not accusing him but, have you ever noticed there's a weird smell at the spawn ?

I think you need players in a chunk for eggs to spawn, find a chunk with players not looking for eggs and get yourself a nice overview of the area. (up high, a tree, a building, whatever) Guest spawn is good, but your not the only one hunting for eggs there. Keep an eye on the chat for fishing parties, drop parties, etc, any place where people meet but are occupied doing other things then hunting for eggs.

Can u pencil me in as a maybe? I'm a wilderness man, i need to be free to do as i please. Nevertheless, the residents of Bushido are second to none. Is there a better group of people? I think not.
Max
Max, I am quit the hermit myself, but I can tell you that Bushido is like a warm haven. Dadjeager and his staff make for a very nice place to come home to. I find myself more and more in Bushido and less in my nether and wilderness homes.....

Regarding Old Veterans,
All old veterans will be moved to the new rank, we are just giving 100+ people the chance to join the rank in v6.
I feel re-assured, thank you Joe.

It seems you are correct, dear sir, Found this in the archives : When we originally set up the Veteran rank it was not to reward our long term players it was as a way to ensure that those members who Donated to us before we updated the donation system received a fair reward for what they were originally told they would receive. This happened to match the beginning of V5 as this was when we introduced the automated donations and Points system.
The term "Veteran" was probably not the best term we could have selected, as it seems to be causing some confusion these days. Taking a definition of the term isn't an explanation of how we have used the word. But back when it was introduced (and still) it has nothing to do with how long you have played. Not to say this may or may not change in the future.
Being a Veteran isn't even the top level any more since our latest VIP upgrade Veterans are actually able to upgrade their account to include new VIP features such as the warps, chest/workbench access, increased McMMO, etc.

Hang on, we did not pay for the Veteran title, it was a gift ! I have always understood it was given to us because we believed enough in the future of this server to donate way back. No way I would ever claim to have the right to the title veteran, its up to the noobscraft team to give the title to players.
