Actually, while Terraria shares many similarities with Minecraft, it really is an entirely different experience. It's far more strongly focused around exploration, adventure, and combat than Minecraft is, and actually has a bit more to it in many ways. It really is a good game that's worth checking out.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: factions for evryone
« on: 17 Mar 2012, 02:48:27 »
factions are for the servers run by 4 y/o's sir!(no offence) i stayed on this server because all the other "great" servers i tried were overdone with factions PLUS the username thing is just overdoing it...

EXIBIT A!

without faction
[Member] Nickolas927 entered the game
[Member] Nickolas927: hey guys

WITH factions
[Member]Blue_Cobalt_Supreme_Ninja_Clan   Builder Nickolas927 joined the game
[Member]Blue_Cobalt_Supreme_Ninja_Clan   Builder Nickolas927: h- (rest of message cut out of screen)

Faction name lengths can be limited, so your point, while valid, is not entirely so. Though I do agree that the server definitely doesn't need factions in the slightest.

/pt Could be abused to the max, e.g /pt /tpa Jayjay36 I can bind this to anything and spam click, insta spam, Another? /pt /me DUUUR DURDURUDURUDURSPAM ...Yep...
Personaly I love /pt when I could use it on my old server when I was an admin >_> It was always usfull for like /pt /sphere air 3 to do some tera forming with :P
While yes, it could be used to spam, spam is a bannable offense, so problem solved. People that spam with /pt would eventually get banned. :P And yes, /pt is very useful. :)

Noobstown V1. I miss you... Also with V2-V4... Why did you post these pictures. WHY!?  T^T

Anyway, I'll be back on the server for this. :D

Also, for EST people, this is from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM I believe.

That would be correct if Day Light Savings was non existent. Sadly it is, so its is 4PM - 8PM for us ESTers.
Very sadly...I have work right during those hours...when I first saw "8:00pm to 12:00am" I thought, "Oh boy! I can get on for a couple hours after I get off work at 10:00!"...well...reality check...and no such luck. :'( So I guess I will only be there in spirit after all. XD

False - Nostalgic would be Alphas or early Betas.

Still cool.

Or this could be nostalgia to him, depends on when you started playing.
Indeed it is a bit for me. :) I started playing in beta 1.6. Though the most memorable moments so far have been from when I started playing SMP, in 1.6.6 beta, a short bit before the release of beta 1.7, and onward. ;) Unfortunately I only have a couple of screenshots from back in 1.7, none of which are very good, and I have absolutely non from 1.6...it took me a while to start liking F2, or knowing about it for that matter. XD And depressingly, I have absolutely no screenies from my first ever home server, lonelyMC, which I loved dearly and which has been sadly and inexplicably dead since almost a year ago...  :'(

EDIT: Speaking of lonelyMC....I have another topic to go create. :P

EDIT2: I just realized that I posted this in Other, and intended to post it in photos....ah well, works either way I guess. XD

Other / Nostalgia Trip!
« on: 15 Mar 2012, 01:07:06 »
So I was looking through screenshots of some of my older adventures in Minecraft and had a nice little nostalgia trip. XD Some of the screenshots are pretty good actually; cool stuff, past adventures, funny things, weird glitches, mega slimes, texture quirks (custom texture pack, lol. XD ), etc. And thus, I decide to post some here for your enjoyment. :) If anyone else has screenies of past adventures, etc. in Minecraft, feel free to post and discuss them here. :)

Nice little mountain-top 1.8pre-rel cottage I built, outside view.

An awesome-looking sunrise thanks to a custom tex pack on an old factions server I played on for a while.

Wtf?! How'd that enderman get in our house dark78660?! XD

Hmm...I think something's up with the enderman texture... O.o XD

Silly cow, eternally stuck in the water stream trying to swim up! XD (It's still there on that SSP creative world save. XDD )

What the..?! Two MoMoe0s?! O.o

That's a loooooooot of squid, lol. XD Gliiitchyyyy! XD

HOLY asjfadjhdfa!!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!! GODZILLA SLIME!!!! o.o

I don't think they're happy. XD Thank Notch for creative. XDD

I would like that red disc Zell01. I really do like the blocks music disk. Meet me in game tommorow for the trade.
Well...you realize there are two "red" disks? With one of them being more blood-red and with Blocks being a kinda orange-ish red.

Dragon's personal favorite building locales:

- Mountains (particularly amongst their peaks)
- other interesting mountain-like features, eg. calderas and such
- Ocean surface
- Ocean floor
- In mid-air

Yeah...I choose all the hard places to build. :P

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: A Plugin Idea:Bookworm
« on: 14 Mar 2012, 23:19:18 »
no, Book stacks with only books that have the same infomation as it. Such as one book will be the same as a copied book.
Exactly, because the way that the plugin works is basically...wait... *refrains from explanation* ...nevermind that, I really shouldn't go into detail and potentially confuse people, I'm bad about that sometimes. >.< Anyways, I think I know how the plugin works, and any books with the same info in them (particularly empty ones) should still be able to stack with each other.

Nope, bookworm disabled book stacking for all books... and the way it was implemented, each player was only allowed one book which was tied to the character.

P.S. good to see you too. I'm not really here though... Lent just got a bit boring earlier >.<
Not sure what you mean about a book being tied to a character though...mabey a limit set by the admin of whatever server you were on? (unless it was your server, then I have no clue.) (Or mabey I should go read about the plugin in more detail. XD ) (Or mabey I should read their source code....if they provide it. XD )

EDIT: Lol, nvm that. XD I just read more closely and the first paragraph on the plugin page says that book stacking is disabled, though I personally am pretty certain that I could easily write a plugin that does the exact same thing, but allows for the stacking of books that contain the exact same info. In fact, some code that I'm writing for one of my plugins right now, that uses a custom HashMap<> database file to store player data, could actually be recycled to store all of the data that would be needed to be stored for a plugin similar to this...wait...yay! I just got an idea for another plugin....a competitor to BookWorm! :P XD

EDIT 2: But seriously though, that's how my brain works sometimes when it comes to stuff like this. I don't completely like what's already available for whatever reason, so I make something else that has similar basic functionality as other things, but is entirely different and unique in it's own right. :) An upcoming plugin of mine, CreativePortals, is a perfect example of this...well mabey not perfect, but you know what I mean. XD

EDIT 3: So yeah...basically I still support this idea, but I don't like the fact that books wouldn't be stackable at all...though I personally could fix that methinks. XD

It can indeed be done on a forum, it's been done on others before (or at least something very similar), though I personally don't know if it could be done on this forum, as I personally don't know if they're using a template, custom written forum code, or a combination of the two. *shrug*

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Lava
« on: 14 Mar 2012, 19:46:53 »
well you see the reason for only a mayor or TA to use lava is good because....
1) TA's are generally only trusted people chosen by mayor
2) mayors can't exactley BE mayors if they are corrupt enough to grief/kill
3) if by some chance they DO kill/grief, residents can leave said town and move to one that wont do such
4) again i say, cobblestone gens for the towns!
5) if a TA or mayor puts the lava and or fire for a town resident, that person will know what will happen to the lava or fire and accept or deny the placement of such fiery substance

This seems perfectly reasonable, why would a Mayor/TA grief their own town? After paying 100,000 noobs for a town, it would be great if that came with some added abilities, like placing lava/fire in my town. As long as I can ONLY place it in MY town I can't really grief. Sure I could grief my own villagers, but they would just leave.
What if I were new to the server and seemed like a nice, chatty and helpful person so you gave me TA a few hours later or the next day... Then I griefed with lava or fire, people go to amazing extents to hurt others in any way they can.
And thus a potential solution, only mayors (and mods/admins obviously) are able to place lava/fire within town borders. That could be a possible solution.

*Public Service Announcement*

Anyone that owns/runs/admins/moderates a server, as well as anyone that has ever considered trying a claimed ForceOp hack in Minecraft should read this very interesting tweet, and the link in it, from the original creator of Bukkit himself, EvilSeph: https://twitter.com/#!/EvilSeph/status/180003180355141632

There is no such thing as an actual ForceOp exploit for Minecraft!!! This is definitely something to be careful of.

Last time I used Bookworm it disabled book stacking...

Very annoying......
Actually, I would think that it would only disable stacking of books that have something written in them, due to the way that I'm guessing the plugin works, but empty books that have never been written in should still be stackable, and if not, I could easily write a plugin that does the exact same thing as bookworm, while still retaining the ability to stack blank books together, just sayin.

P.S. Good to see you around german, it's been a while. :)

I can give you both green and gold discs for free. :)
Well, tbh, being the kind of person I am, I would gladly give them away myself...but I really do want to try to turn a buck off of them if I can, particularly since I can't sell them in the server shop. :/

Good thought indeed. But I'm not sure if that's possible with permissions/towny. Though I'm sure that I could personally write a small plugin that could handle that. XD Wouldn't be hard really, and could be of benefit to towns. *shrug*

One Question.
Do All plugins work with each other? Just wondering, that might be the cause
It is rare that plugins conflict with each other, and when they do, it usually causes more noticeable issues than what is mentioned here (sometimes even server crashes). What was said, if I understood correctly, was basically that the issue with "/balancetop" was caused by a database location/access issue as an unintentional side-effect of the server's SQLdb's being moved to local hosting from the remote servers that they once were on.
