Here is an official word on town owners for the V6.  Many have asked if they will receive starting money to recreate their town.  The answer, is 'No'  Here is a post by Foob that will also back up this statement as well.

Quote
1. There will be other ways to start earning straight away such as leveling skills and hitting milestones.

2. Money will begin to flow into the server as v6 progresses, we have a ton of tools now to actively monitor and control the economy so things don't get out of hand - Such as in the past exploits have caused items to lose value so on so forth.

3. I think its a common misconception that Towns are going to be 500k - The reason towns are so much is because of the economy that ran out of control, this causes a lot of people to be turned off. The expense is so steep! - Towns will start at a reasonable price and will change as the economy flows. We will not be going back to such prices, this will be a version for everyone in which everyone can enjoy the features we have to offer without spending half a life time achieving them.

So even though you will not get a starting balance to create your town, the word for now is that towns will be far cheaper than what you see currently.

THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON ADMIN REVIEW AND DECISION

But for now, there is no plan to give town mayors / owners a starting balance to create a town.

Noobstown General / How Activity and Tokens are Accumulated!

This is a repost of a reply I gave to someone else.  If you have more questions, just PM me.

Hello everyone!

I know there is quite a bit of concern about the 100 top activity list.  I should inform you that this does not necessarily mean just in-game time alone.  Players who sit afk or riding in minecarts for 10 hours will find themselves slipping down the list due to a few things:

1) Your activity on the server will increase your ranking.  This means leveling your skills, building, and various other tasks that will give you 'credit' so to speak

2)  Events that are hosted are being timed to allow for optimal access to all players who can participate.  If you find yourself missing out on one, never fear!  More will come as the weeks progress closer toward our release of V6

3)  "I'm not in the top 10!!!1one"  Yes, this will happen, and, IT'S OK!  Being in the top 10 is wonderful, as you will gain tokens, but that is not the only way to gain them!  Keep a watch out for our events, participate, and watch for announcements and upcoming news on the website.

All in all, if you stay active, and continue to play as you normally would, you have a very good chance of making the top 100.  Our Admins are aware that players are using various methods to afk farm time on the server, and we will be keeping a close eye on those who are still participating in the community.  If all else fails, and you do not make the top 100, do not fret.  V6 will be better and even more enjoyable than our current map.  100% guaranteed.   There will be so much stuff to do, build, and enjoy yourself with.  Stick with us, and we promise to give you one of the best Minecraft online experiences that can be offered.

I will be figuring out a way to make umm's C++ actually work on the server :P

Hey there, Tomis,

This question is being asked quite a bit but there is no information we can give you right now about the V6 token shop.  Please be patient and wait for the admins to post an official announcement about it :).  Just keep rounding up those tokens.  I will most likely be spending all of mine at the start of the server.

Nothing wrong with ideas.  New things can never come to pass unless someone thinks of them first :D
Just be sure to keep them in good taste and follow the forums rules.

Even if you are invisible, we have ways of finding out who you are, what you are doing, and punish you accordingly.  As always, make sure you follow the rules, even if you think you can get away with breaking one.  99.9% chance you will be caught.

Our Job as staff is to ensure the safety and integrity of the server.  Based off of the rules we have in place, and extensive investigation into any report or incident of rule infringement, a warning, suspension, or ban is put in place.  Such is the way of the server, and while not everyone agrees with it, and it is certainly not a perfect system as those who created it are human, it is what is.  I am sorry that you feel you have been slighted, but I assure you any and all appeals are reviewed and the case is looked over by not just one, but many of the staff members that are hired to help.  This is not a public court system, nor is this some dictatorship where a ruler enforces his own whims and ideals on to others.  This is a private server, with a certain ruleset and punishment system that is followed.  While you may feel it is unfair based off of whatever standards you hold true, that is not the case.  You are entitled to your opinion just like everyone else, but you must remember that when in an on-line community such as this, it is up to the Administrators to set the rule and set the punishments as they see fit for their product.  There's nothing more we can convey or tell you other than the fact that evidence is presented, reviewed meticulously, and only then is a punishment decided.  It was the same with your case as well.

You may only be a member of one town at a time.  You can purchase embassy plots in other towns to build a home there, but you cannot join 2 towns.

Villagers are disabled on the server for the time being.  There's not much more information I can give you at this time other than that.  We hope that they will be back in the near future.

Pistons are disabled due to a number of bugs and glitches involving them.  I will not go into details on these bugs to protect the integrity of other servers that have them enabled.  Once the bugs and glitches are fixed, we will enable them again.

While we do understand that our player's opinions are important, and feedback of all type is used to improve and better our community as a whole, this topic has great potential to turn into a hate fest for people to complain about how the staff is handling certain problems and situations.  These kinds of opinions should not be publicly debated on a forum topic, but taken straight to an admin in private so that they can handle it.  If you wish to give us kudos, that is fine, but I would strongly advise you to take any problems or concerns about staff members to an admin via forum PM, /msg, /mail, or email.

My shop chests can always use restocking.  I have no special orders or anything that would be constant, but you are free to sell whatever you see on my signs in my shop at /spawn's market.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Revision of the Marketplace Rules
« on: 12 Nov 2012, 12:32:47 »
I have lost no business to seaside.  In fact, their new shop has allowed for me to take off some pressure from the server shop being down with people filling up their chests.  I did adjust my diamond prices due to seaside, but only slightly, as a store that cannot stay in stock will never thrive.  Eventually people will tire of trying to go there and just find another shop that's always in stock, and has what they want for buying and selling purposes.  People have asked me how my shop is so successful.  This is my trick.  I have everything the most basic player could want or need, as well as what they would want to sell.   I do lose out on money often, but when it comes time for a player to purchase something, where do they go?  "I remember seeing that in that one guys shop I made 10k off of!"

Going by the ruling of disbanding a shop because of their prices would be unfair in and of itself as well.  If that were the case, both Twisted's and my shop would have to go , as we keep a healthy stock and a good solid cap on most valuable prices.  Do we always get the business?  No.  But when the other shop selling for ridiculously low amounts is out of stock, players will come to us.  It is hard to 'crash' an economy like this one, when the stock is very limited and there isn't a huge surplus.

I should also add, location is a key factor in success in shops as well.  As stated in a previous post, the shop behind someone else may not receive as much attention if players are not made aware of it's existence.   I am sad to know that my shop took quite a bit of business from other players as well, but in a situation like this, there's not much that can be done.

The superstore is a nice addition to the market.  I find it to be an attractive wonder that pulls people into the market.   I have also found that opening and running a market isn't very profitable at all.  If you're looking to just make noobz, you'd do better to harvest the materials, and then sell them to the shops, or to an individual personally.  If I had to guess on my shop's profits, I'd say minor.  Buying, selling, and keeping up with the shifting economy does not yield profit to me in the amounts people think it does.  They see my /player balance and make assumptions when in fact, 90% of that money has come from farming or mining materials myself, or doing private trades with people in mass quantities.

Do I think it should be a rule that plots should be separate?  I'm indifferent really.  Even if the plots were divided by a 2-block wide median I do not think it would change much in the grand scheme of things.

(I have been directing people to your market, Bexn.  for invis pots :P  You created the market for those and from what I gather, have set the going price)
