Noobstown General / Re: wtf
« on: 24 Aug 2012, 03:21:59 »
As has been stated many times before, it is not our fault that the server is having bugs. Many different servers are, and it is not our fault.

We do not develop the plugins used on the server, nor do we develop Bukkit, nor can we mess with the coding to try to fix it ourselves, nor are we allowed to either unless we wanted a lawsuit on our hands for tampering with something that we have no legal right to.

Many people are DDOSing things on Minecraft, the skindex, Bukkit, and several other things are hit daily so that they can hardly stay up let alone update. If you want to complain to someone, then find these DDOSers and complain to them, because they are a major part of the problem of plugins not being able to update.

Secondly, if we had not updated you must realize that there are many people who would not want to be on an un-updated server for as long as this one has been in 1.3 dealing with the various bugs. People were complaining within a few days of 1.3 release for us to update even if it wasn't possible, holding off further would have been completely foolish. We could not know what would happen, nor would we go back even now as we would be behind many other servers that updated which people were flocking to.

You're missing the fact that Fatnoob and the other admins are trying hard every single day to work on what little has been updated daily, so that they can fix all the bugs. Every time a major bug comes on that could wreck the server us mods make a quick report to them so they can take the server down to fix the problem. If we didn't care about you all, if we weren't taking our time to look out for you all, then we wouldn't fix it. We'd continue to let it happen and ruin the economy, player experiences, everything. But we don't.

It's hardly fair to blame every single thing on us, and you should realize just how little control we actually have over anything and everything updated. If we waited on every single plugin who knows how long it would actually take.

So please. Have some patience and kindness towards us, we are trying our best here along with the rest of the Minecraft community.

"I am signed in, in-game, as well as signed into the server. "

So that's certainly not the issue here. I'm not sure what's the problem though, I've mentioned it to the admins however, so hopefully they can figure out what the problem is.

Support / Re: A question regarding shops in the main town
« on: 20 Aug 2012, 11:15:49 »
The steps are as simple as you've said, you simply go onto a plot you think you want to buy and then just plot claim it for 10k.

There are several rules in it however, you have to keep the building no taller than 18 blocks, it has to be sensible buildings that look like a shop so no pixel art, and you have to make sure that what you're selling is something you can stock. Not that it always needs to be in stock in case of something like diamond which is rare, but just make sure you have some every so often is all. :P

« on: 17 Aug 2012, 18:06:35 »
Nah, Magic's just worried the other towns are going to start claiming even more land and Kingdom will hardly have any space to grow.

One fix for this is you could make an outpost somewhere else in the world, and then start building a new "section" of town there, this gets rid of the problem where other towns are crowding in on you.

Noobstown General / Re: What is YOUR noobstown story?
« on: 17 Aug 2012, 04:29:55 »
My story's pretty simple. I joined in March after hearing Tidal talking about the server for a week-two. Right away we went into the mining world and she gave me some supplies to start me off and introduced me into MCMMO, where I decided that I would start digging up as much dirt as I could because excavation was easier to level up and it would eventually yield me diamonds, and stone was taking too long to break.

After a few hours of that Tidal was able to get me into DragonFire which her bf ran at the time. I was able to get two plots for myself by each other and was quite content with it, I had quite a lot of mishaps around the town having to do with getting myself lost a lot and not knowing where anything was, but eventually I mastered my surroundings. DragonSoulSong (The mayor then) made me a TA because he knew me in real life as much as he knew Tidal.

At first the town was pretty simple, nothing much to it, most people were inactive and it was incredibly small. I didn't like that, so I was immediately working on getting people into the town, creating new plots for the town, etc. Dragon was inactive a lot doing other things on various things, so mostly it was me doing all the plot-digging, shuffling people around, and showing them where to go to get what they needed. Tidal wasn't all that good with making plots, so sometimes she'd help where I'd outline a plot and she'd help me dig it, but not much else than that.

Eventually while I was digging AlbatrosV5 asked to look at the town because he was tired of living in the wilderness and he wanted to pick a good town to live in, for what I think was a full day he would just wander around the town while Tidal and I were working on plots. By the end of his wandering he decided that he'd wanted to join, so we moved him into the town and into some plots that he wanted and I thought that would be it, simply another resident into the town.

After some time I realized that was not the case at all, in fact he was far more helpful than I ever expected from a random person. He quickly wanted to help with things that I was working on for the town, offering suggestions, helping as he could, most things that normal people don't actually do. We wanted to make him TA but he'd refused at first. But after some time I managed to weedle him into joining the crew of DragonFire TA, and I'd gained an even better helper than I thought.

Mostly boring everyday stuff after that, Tidal was finally able to keep her promise to me about donating for me to get me VIP (My parents would never let me use my bank for it) and I bought her dinner, and I spent a few days as VIP. Then I woke up to get on and found I had a message from Foob asking if I wanted to become a moderator. I accepted of course, and was welcomed into the staff.

More boring everyday things, working to get the town as big as I could and helping out around the nation as I needed, gathering towns with Dragon when he was on. Then after a month of Dragon being inactive I asked him on something else if I could be mayor of the town and nation, and he decided it was better off for that, so he switched us out.

In the end this all leads to where I am now, with the town the richest currently and the nation as well. We may not have the most residents, but I don't feel that's really necessary. Mostly nowadays I just collect up items, farm, mine, simple things like that while helping coordinate the town with my TAs, who recently were added: AQW_Assassian01, Esp1222, and DiggyPerro. Hopefully I'll be able to get a better story later on. :P

Noobstown General / Re: Need A New Rule
« on: 16 Aug 2012, 01:39:58 »
You do not need to rage over something that is your own fault. You created an image that was profane, and this is a family server. Within my town there are people who are at youngest perhaps even 9 years old, and I would not want them looking at what you made and either knowing what it was or even asking their own parents about it if they were curious enough. And this is the exact same town you were in that you created this image near, with a sign quite clearly telling people to look at what you made so they would be sure to look at it.

That quite cleanly falls under "disrespect towards other players" as it is not following their wishes to not see something like that within a game that is meant for entertainment and creativity, not something like that.

Do not make a topic like this again, as it is disrespectful towards mods overall when we are simply doing our jobs to take care of the server and everyone within it.

Towns & Nations / Re: My new town.
« on: 14 Aug 2012, 05:37:32 »
I picked Gardell, mostly because it was the most original name there. "Lanewich" I've already said makes me think of "sandwich" except with a lane involved, so it seems a little silly when looked at that way. And there's a lot of things with "vale" and "ville" and "meadow". There was once a "meadowcraft" and a "meadowcraft2" so it's not all that separate and different.

Plus Gardell makes you question where the name came from, so it has a mysterious edge to it as well which makes it even better.

Towns & Nations / Re: Simple Town/Nation Statistics
« on: 13 Aug 2012, 21:18:51 »
You have no idea the amount of spare time I have Kinesthesis. Lmao. But occasionally I do like doing statistics like this, I don't know why. Figuring out the amount of things you need to do to get a certain amount of money, levels, etc. I'll pause what I'm doing occasionally just to calculate and go "Okay so I need to do this X amount more times."

Of course other things are involved with a town's bank, like buying plots and spending on various things. If there's a huge town project I can easily dip into the town's bank to fund it and help out the town members as well, so it's not just taxing that can kill a town. It's not being careful enough with one's bank as well. :P

Hopefully those towns in the red will realize they need to deposit, or else. :L

Towns & Nations / Simple Town/Nation Statistics
« on: 13 Aug 2012, 05:29:37 »
So I was bored today and decided to do some small statistics on the towns and nations, with their resident count, money in the bank, and days left before they will die (Provided no money is added into the town!). I will weekly do a recount on all of them, and edit this first post with the most recent data, and in a new post I'll show the data of how much changed in residents, money, and days remaining.

Please note that this is not about counting down days left before a town/nation dies out. Instead this is more of a general statistics thread with a warning, if you find that your town is marked in red that means that it wil disappear within the next week if you do not add money into the bank.
Also note that this is only updated once a week.

Town upkeep: 850 Nation upkeep: 1550

And each plot that you claim for a town costs you 2,500.

Try using it from a web browser instead, recently clients have been having troubles connecting to servers. I can say that the server is up however as I am on it currently.

Noobstown General / Re: Which ores?
« on: 12 Aug 2012, 01:50:31 »
I'm pretty sure it doesn't work after you've already placed it. The only thing that works after that is to fortune it, because the game does keep track of what's been placed and what's not. Otherwise you could just forever silk touch the new ore and repeat as long as you desire, which would not be good for anything. :P

Heh heh, I can imagine. People do like those who are good at avatars/signatures to make them for them. I'm decent at it and I'd get a lot of requests somewhere else that I go to.

Good luck with it all. :D

Noobstown General / Re: Communication issues
« on: 10 Aug 2012, 07:28:25 »
No, nobody is on the server. The list that you currently see is the list of people who were on when the server crashed. The list can't update because the server isn't up, but it isn't being told the server is down either I'd imagine so it doesn't know that the list should be empty either.

You'll simply have to wait until an admin wakes up in a few hours and puts the server back up.

Yes, definitely true. I've seen many people who don't even like Star Wars using the reference simply because the reference itself is a pretty nice one to make. In all kinds of apprenticeships there are ways to refer to the younger one who is learning, "padawan" and "jedi" seem to be as widely used as the most popular "grasshopper". :P

Noobstown General / Re: Which ores?
« on: 10 Aug 2012, 07:16:22 »
Well I've heard from many different people that diamond is best found at y 12, this keeps you one block above most lava pools that form at that level, and in my own experience and from what others have told me it's the best layer to get diamonds at. You may have to compete with the lava, but a simple water bucket in your hotbar can keep any mishaps from going on to bother you.

On another note I just mine at level 12 in straight lines, if I have the border I'll turn and go in another direction. Anything I can take my pick to I do so, including any and all ores that I come across. With the advent of 1.3.1 I try to get at least a chest of ores a day if I can manage it, and then I'll mine the coal/etc for the instant xp and then smelt the rest for the xp that comes from that.

Redstone I'm trying to pester Foob into adding into VIP shop so that I can get rid of my redstone that way. I'm up to 9 double chests of it after all! So one can certainly say that I'm stockpiling that.

If I find that my shop's low on coal though I'll go on a mining expedition where my main focus is coal, but I'll still work on getting everything else that I need along the way. :3

It's just a joke Beth, calm down. Liamcal probably likes Star Wars and on that they call those who are learning things "young padawans" or "young jedi". He wasn't actually saying it was your name, he was just using another thing to refer to you as.

Support / Re: Our town needs a mayor
« on: 10 Aug 2012, 01:58:34 »
Your mayor is Marksmir, who doesn't look to have been banned so that's not a problem. The only thing I see is that they haven't been on in 19 days which might mean they're inactive. But I don't really think there's much we can do with this kind of thing as you'd have to get permission from the mayor to replace them as mayor, which you might not get from an inactive mayor.

Market Place / Enchanted Drops at my Shop
« on: 7 Aug 2012, 22:08:56 »
As most people know occasionally I'll fill my three free double chests at my shop with enchanted items for anyone to take. However to keep doing this I'm going to need to keep a good supply of tools/armor to enchant for this.

So anyone who has any kind of tools/armor they'd like to give away I'd be beyond happy to accept it to reuse, it can be at any durability as well, and any kind. Even wood I will accept if that's all that one wants to give.

Currently:
I'm in need of tools/armor, so any you can give would be nice.

Any time I'm online you can just tell me you have some tools/armor for me to take and I'll tp to you to get it, you can put it in a chest if you want and direct me to it so I can take it from there, or you can just toss it to me. You an also tp to me to where I keep my enchanted chests so that I can then fill them from there, whichever is more preferable to you.

Before 1.3 they were around 15k, not entirely sure what they'd be at now but probably still in that ballpark since it still isn't easy to get the enchant.
