We are now running 1.4.2! Feel free to update your clients!
1.4 is scheduled to be released on the 25th of October 2012 (This coming Thursday). This means the Noobscraft servers will be outdated until Bukkit can provide a stable, safe and reliable build. Our aim is always to get the server updated quickly, but that's not always the case as this can run into problems. Expect some downtime on the day or a few days after release as we smooth out all the bugs/lag that may(will) occur during the time of release. Remember! ~ If you want to continue playing Noobstown after 1.4 is released, back up your 1.3 file now. It's easy just follow this simple tutorial video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf6HC1SZlkE#wsAlso, if you accidentally update you can simply swap out the minecraft.jar's that you have backed upThanks and Happy Halloween!

CLOUDSQUID NETWORKSERVER RULESThe rules apply per account, not per person (on said account). When accessing the server (and site) you are committing yourself to following these rules and if you fail to follow these rules you risk your account being suspended or banned.
We will inform players when major changes are made to the rules. i. AdvertisingYou may not discuss, mention by name, or send IP addresses to other servers in any chat channel. You are not permitted to make money from Cloudsquid services nor use them for your own personal gain, in doing so, you will be permanently banned from our services. ii. CheatingYou are not allowed to use any sort of cheat or exploit to gain an advantage over other players. Auto-fishing mods are not allowed. AFK or duplication machines are not allowed. Knowing & using but not reporting exploits to staff members can lead to your account being sanctioned. iii. Griefing (and Stealing)Destroying other players blocks without their permission is against the rules. Giving a player permissions to your plot or town is indirectly giving that player permission to break your plots (this includes setting towns and plots to public). You should not destroy or remove a player’s blocks or items if they are in a chest, unless you have permission to do so. However, any items that are dropped by a player are no longer their own and are free for anyone to take. iv. HackingModifications to your client that give you a substantial advantage over players are not allowed, for example X-Ray modifications. The only modifications that are allowed are Optifine and those that are similar, in that, it does not give you a distinct advantage over other players. Minimap mods are permissible if and only if they have no other features, for example mob trackers and cave finders. v. SwearingYou may not swear in any channel including private messaging channels such as /tell. We have language filters to block any words that are profane; bypassing or attempting to bypass this filter will lead to sanctions against your account. Any chat should be appropriate for people of all ages and in the global channel all chat should be in English only. vi. TrollingTrolling and annoying players is not allowed. Deliberately provoking players to break the rules by, for example arguing or name-calling will lead to your account being sanctioned. Ruining gameplay can be classed as trolling, and similarly, flaming (on the forum or otherwise) is included in this definition. vii. SpammingUnnecessary messages that have no other purpose than to annoy players are classed as Spam. Spam can include song lyrics, random formations of letters, repetition of letters or words and so forth. If you are to send pictures or video (that are within the boundaries of the rules) you should do so in a private chat channel. viii. RespectYou should be respectful to all players and staff members. If players are disrespectful towards yourself or others, you should report this to a staff member and avoid being disrespectful back. Any hate speech, harassment, bullying or incitements to violence will be dealt with very harshly and you can expect your server access to be revoked permanently if you engage in this behaviour. For your own safety you should be very careful when you release personal information about yourself; we ask you not to exchange Skype usernames or emails with eachother on the server.

I've been receiving many PM's recently about people unable to connect due to a "Internal Server Error" this is caused by out of date mods or broken mods. Try removing all of your mods as the most common cause of the issue is the client mod: Too Many Items. Tips to fix the issue quickly: - Run Minecraft
- Force Update - Removes Mods, cleans your Minecraft.jar
- Connect to the server.
If the issue still occurs after you have followed all the steps, post below and we'll try and discuss a possible fix. EditPerformed a quick maintenance that will hopefully fix the problem, some chunks seem to have also been causing the problem. If you still cannot connect follow the steps above and if not contact here.

We have some great news to share, Mcmmo skills are back... Woohoo! and to welcome back the skills we are giving everyone double xp gains for two days! However, they may be turned off again if any issues arise unfortunately. Consider this a test run! Mob Arena has been disabled for causing some crashing issues in 1.3 , the mini game will return once it's safe to do so. The Summer events will be starting back up shortly once 1.3 is more stable. We have been working hard over the past week to keep the server stable, sorry for any lag and crashes you have experienced this will be fixed over the coming weeks.

After many hours of hard work and dedication, we have managed to get everything onto 1.3. If you find any bugs, exploits or such please report them instantly. This is a development build and could have some issues but as the days go by we will keep updating the build to fix any that may arise. We hope you enjoy 1.3 and try out all the new features, we've re-introduced the Nether.. finally! The enderworld has been reset and the mining world too. Villagers are currently disable globally until we get a better understand of how the rewards from items work, we want to try and keep the economy under control. For the time being there are a selection of Villagers at spawn you can try out trading on. New feature! We've added a new feature to tackle griefing! Whenever you have been griefed and require assistance from a Moderator you should simply type following command next to the grief area - "/grief" this will automatically send data to our moderation panel in which the moderators will be able to fix the destroyed area. We hope you share and enjoy this feature as it's going to keep the server clean and free from griefers. Have fun! ChangesTowny prices have been changed yet again, we are having an overload of towns and to reduce this we have decided it would be best to increase the price, upkeep and tax of towns. We have also increased Nations and Outposts. We hope you understand on why we have made these changes, to view the new prices type /towny prices

Summer is here, school is over and it's time to enjoy Minecraft for your holiday break. Noobstown will be hosting a wide range of events to keep you guys occupied during the summer, including: - Automated spleef, play whenever you wish with your friends. We'll also be hosting tournaments and match ups for big prizes. - Player verses Player, we will be adding some sort of hunger games type events during the summer break. There will also be tournaments between players and towns for prizes - Player versus Enviroment (computer controlled monsters) Noobstown is finally re-introducing the famous mob arena! Join a game, pick a class and battle it out together against waves of monsters. The further you go in the game (More waves) the better rewards you can earn. - Improvements to server security against griefers. Griefers can ruin your experience, attempting to get a mod at the specific time of the grief can be quite irritating. Well, we plan on fixing this for the better. Introducing our brand new anti-grief! The /grief command, it'll be used for when you have been griefed. Simply stand in the area, type /grief and this will be sent to our brand new moderation panel. The panel is sent these griefs one by one that form in a que like fashion, moderations will then be able to go through each grief one by one rolling them back until they are all fixed. - Further Spam control, we are adding more spam preventions and toning down the guest speaking abilities when they join the game. - Reducing congestion in the global chat This summer will be a blast and will completely change the way Noobstown works in such a positive way. Behind the scenes we are always working hard to invent and implement new ideas that'll make your Minecraft experience that much more fun. P.S Chest shop tax has been reduced from 30% to 10%

UPGRADE COMPLETE AT 10AM BST Noobstown will be taken down on Friday the 22nd June, when we upgrade the server CPU. This upgrade will hopefully allow more people to play with less lag and speed up the overall experience of Noobstown. We are also updating our Network line to a Gigabit, this line transmits Ethernet frames at a rate of a gigabit per second (1,000,000,000 bits per second). Thanks again for all your support, without the donations this wouldn't be possible. Also a big thank you to our sponsor Global7 for their hard work and dedication over Noobstown 1 year+ running time, these upgrades wouldn't be possible without them either. Day: Friday 22nd June Downtime: Estimated 2hours or so Time: Unknown, whenever its ready on the day. Summer holidays are approaching!

Thanks for being incredibly patient throughout the whole maintenance process. Luckily there were no errors in our RAM so we are good to go, I have made some changes that will hopefully speed up the server for the better, those lag spikes and mass disconnections shouldn't happen any more. Please give feedback if anything has improved for you, or if not. To those experiencing server block-age due to ALT accounts, this has been fixed. You should now be able to fully connect to Noobstown with no issues!

This is an important announcement regarding Chestshops, if you are allowing people to sell to you this is potentially dangerous and can lead to you becoming bankrupt. For example: If you have 2000 Noobz in your iConomy bank and are allowing Diamonds to be sold to you at 200 each this means someone only has to sell 10 to your shop to completely bankrupt you. This is due to the lack of restrictions in the chest shop plugin we cannot stop people from taking all your money, your best bet is to only allow people to buy from you for the time being. I have contacted the developer of Chestshop and he will be adding a feature that is a selling limit, this feature will stop selling past a certain point (purposely bankrupting you). I hope this helps you, please change your shop as soon as possible.

Spawner have been modified as of June 12th to stop people Mob farming (Cheating) and causing mass lag on the server. Recently I have been monitoring the server, it seems quite a lot of people have been going AFK for hours on end until they have around 50-200 Mobs in their spawner. This causes huge lag in the area and reduces your FPS to around seven. The changes:Everyone is limited to five spawns at a time, once those five are killed another five will spawn. This will happen continuously, meaning you will always have five mobs to farm at a time. We hope that you enjoy the changes as it should make the server less laggy and mobs more spread out around the world evenly.

The Market district is now open for business! To enter this district type /spawn and turn right until you spot the market canopy, once inside this district you are able to buy and sell to users that own shops, you may also purchase a shop for 10,000 Noobz. (Plot tax's per day in Noobstown = 100 Nbz)Rules:1. No Building higher than the entrance wall. 2. Keep your shop stocked. 3. Sensible Buildings please (No pixel art) 4. 1 Plot per person, no buying more than one plot. (You may however share plots) Information:Left click to sell to a shop, right click to buy from them. B: Stands for Buy price S: Stands for Sell price. How to set up a Chest shop:
How to create a ChestShop? - Place a chest, if you haven't already. - Place a sign 1 block near the chest (for example, above the chest) - On the sign, write: (Item name can actually be item ID or alias) First line will be filled in by the plugin automatically. Price is a combination of buy and sell price. You have to have B near buy price (people buy from you), and S near sell price (people sell to you). If you have both B and S, separate them with a colon - : For example: means that AcrobotPL wants to sell 64 diamonds for 10 currency, and buy them back from you for 5 currency. Also, if you put "free" instead of price, it is free to buy or sell - Now, when you finish editing the sign, if LWC is turned on in config, shop will be automatically created. Also, if your default protection is turned on in the config, people won't be able to break chest, sign or the block the sign is on

Noobstown will be expanding the town offering two new districts; Town Recruitment and the good old Market District, these changes will hopefully make trading and joining towns easier. Which is good, right?
Brief explanation:
Town Recruitment
The Town recruitment district will offer a place for Town Mayor's to set up a small kiosk type building that will explain information about their town and why you should join it. This will be much easier for new users to interact and get involved with towns as they will know where to go and what they must do to be part of one.
This will help you as a player of Noobstown make the right choice when joining a town, you'll know exactly what they have to offer, their rules, the prices and much more!
All major's that are interested in setting up their kiosk in this district please contact me, we already have Forthwind, BlackThorn and Netherfrost set-up up and ready to go.
Market District
As some of you may remember during the first couple of months of Noobstown v5 we had a Market district that allowed players to own a shop to sell their items in, this shop was directly in the centre of Noobstown meaning they had many more customers visiting them. This was removed due to lack of available space, people leaving or abandoning their shops and having to manually set-up shops for people.
Bring back this district we are offering way more space, up to 50 plots of space. This will enable a good majority of people who are interesting in owning a market place to sell their goods. The shops will be closely monitored for stock levels and the merchants will be required to pay so much a day for tax.
Upcoming changes to the server
We are changing the way deaths deal with item loss as this has been causing quite a few issues and arguments on the server/website.
PVP
Being killed by a player will no longer enables the player to steal your items, you'll keep everything you had before you died. This makes PVP more fun and diverse for all players to get involved in. Arguments will be less frequent and the game will be more enjoyable for all.
VOID
If you happen to glitch, fall or be put into the void you will not lose any items upon death. This has become quite a talking point on the forum as many people have experienced some issues with this glitch, hopefully this will stop people complaining about lost items due to stupid and annoying glitches.
TUTORIAL & GUIDE
A tutorial and guide area will be build around the current member spawn allowing anyone to learn how to play the server, even if you have been playing a long time this may be of help to you. This will teach you about everything we have to offer and how to use these features. More importantly you can visit the tutorial area at any time, no more forgetting how to do something you'll always be able to remember!
