Server Announcements / Maintenance 17/1/2015
« on: 17 Jan 2015, 17:59:39 »
Hey all,

Today we performed an unscheduled maintenance to address some issues with plugins causing lag to the server, we've also made a number of changes:
  • Removed /kit food
  • Changed the rate of which the food bar drops to combat the removal of /kit food
  • We have updated our Anti cheat system, you should see improvements on the sensitivity of checks.
  • Player counter added to floating MOTD at /spawn
  • Range of plugins updated to latest version including Towny. Please let us know if you experience any unusual issues with this version.

Server Announcements / Re: World Updates & December Votes!
« on: 13 Jan 2015, 16:02:53 »
I missed tons of days, but yet I won 10th xD
Ah well, just waiting for the COTM winner announcement...
BTW, about this new IP, it seems to affect Europeans at certain times, while the American side hasn't really complained. The times are about at 7-10 PM GMT, and I'm wondering if you can do something about it, because it's kind of irritating with all these massive lag spikes now and then.

We're still looking into this problem, thank you for the feedback.

We've made further changes as of today to address more issues namely those routing through 'init7' please let me know if you see improvements/issues reoccur.

The way in which towny is being maintained and operated on the server is quite difficult at the moment and we are unsure if this is possible as we use a custom version. Sorry for the late reply, we will look into the possibility of this.

Noobstown General / Re: Stolen Noobs -Locked Post
« on: 3 Jan 2015, 20:48:26 »
Thanks Fatnoob for locking the Post so I cant reply to defend myself

Lets start but saying, its just a game.....
First - I am glad that you step up for Chomperton since he a new player but in v5 when I was robbed the same way I got told that how the game is played and no refunds will givin to you. Since there is NO Rule that on the server (unless you just added, which is Normal)  that you cant do what I did. (and DAMIN Waterworth said I cant make you return the money, but its up to you)

Second - in V5 there was a group on TS at the time that use to go around finding shop that the user messup on the signs.  This group include player ADMIN too and MOD too.... but you want me to name names I could.

Third - I didn't steal all his noobs I sold 18 ore for 1800 k, which he can get back from him going around buying all the other diamond shops out of diamond so people had to go buy them from him at higher price.

but this is the type of player you want in your community then instead of ones that play the game right....

fourth - I didn't cheat to get the money, I use Chompertons Sign that he put up, I can understand if he was a kid or mental challenged I would have gave his money back, but he a ground adult which he know what he was doing, plus all he other signs were correct except that on which begs to wonder if he did it on purposed. ..
but I might have returned it if he did trashed talk about and posted about.

fifth  - You Fatnoob has an ADMIN, thought it would be great to bash me on the forums without trying to keep this from going public, that shows the maturity of the server staff... Now I know this post with me removed as soon as you see due to not wanted people to see it and know the truth....

Every since V5, all the Server cared about is new players and the old dedicated players were pushed a sided.  but yet the veteran players setup and maintain the community till the get pushed out

Now I am done venting and telling my side to this..... I know I be told again about my Attitude is wrong and Despiteful but when people do to me and get away with it but when I do it,  I get nailed to wall.

1. Times have changed from v5 and we run things differently, I apologize if this happened to you in V5 and nothing was done, I was not aware of this myself. We don't take these sort of things lightly, its incredibly disruptive to our community. I had 3 choices in this case: 1. Ban you, return the money and avoid a player leaving the server. 2. Do nothing and let Chompertons leave and 3. Solve the issue from server money and keep you both. I opted for option 3 because I care about you both.

2. I can't say for certain our staff were involved in this as we did not even have Admins playing legitimately in V5. However, once again we run things different in V6 to look after the community as a whole. There is little point of referencing V5 as so much has changed since then, it was the whole point of V6 to reform what we have for the better of the community.

3. You did not steal, you took advantage of a mistake. I did not call you a thief, I was simply disappointed that you did this and even more so that you would do this having happened to yourself in V5? Two wrongs don't make a right.

4. You are both adults and should understand that what you did was disrespectful and unfair, you took advantage of someones mistake in order to benefit. You did not steal, you did not break rules but you have caused a player to leave the server which now becomes our issue.

5. I did not bash you on the forums and the post was locked before I replied. I'm disappointed that a long time member of the community would do this to another valued member, you've both been playing long enough to know how we operate and how the community looks out for one another. I can express my disappointment in you, but this was in no way bashing you or calling you a 'thief'.

No, we do care a lot about our community and especially value old players. This is why I opted for option 3. To settle this via server money and keep you both in the community. It would have been a shame to have lost any of you, which we hopefully have avoided by doing this and skipped the unnecessary drama.

I hope you simply take from this that what you did was wrong, what may have happened to you in v5 was not nice either and you should have taken that experience and decided to inform this user of their mistake. Instead you decided to carry out the exact same act, which seems illogical?  I hope this causes no hard feelings Whuck, I do appreciate you on Noobstown I just hope you know what you did was not fair to that user. I would also like to apologize once again for the issues you experience in v5 and would like to let you know that if this ever happened to you in reverse, we would treat you exactly the same by returning the money.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this feel free to privately message me and we can discuss the issues.

Noobstown General / Re: Chompertons Noobz Stolen
« on: 3 Jan 2015, 02:28:07 »
Hello,

The full amount has been returned to this player from granted server money. Although Whuck was only making profit he clearly saw the opportunity and took full advantage. Noobstown is not about taking advantage of other community members and screwing them over, resulting in them wanting to leave the server, this player is clearly upset and his hours of work on the server has become meaningless. We encourage users to be careful when making their shops, we also encourage our community to be honest and think about others, we as a community care about everyones experience inside the server and would like to maintain a community of players that are kind and caring of one another. This decision has been made because we value our community, each and everyone of you. This is a game and we are in the position to fix this problem and keep a genuinely nice person in the community, which benefits us all.

Whuck, I don't know if you spent the money on purpose to avoid having to pay back these costs or are you are genuinely a busy person who does a lot of trading. I will not judge you,  I simply hope you learn from this and take into consideration the feelings of others within the community and instead point out a clear mistake rather than take advantage and cause players to leave the server.

Server Announcements / Re: Spawners galore!
« on: 2 Jan 2015, 14:09:21 »
That is excised news, is there a way to make a numerous amount of peaceful mob spawners be activated? Also would the ratios of animals being spawned be the same or a lower/combined ratio if the spawner were by itself and activation ?

With spawners will the goods produced by the normal breeding of animals be effected in ways ?

How does adding spawners effect the gameplay that was functions before the adding of spawners for V6 ?

Are there any/what are the differences between the spawners obtainable useing /spawners and the ones on the donation page ? Also what are the different uniqu perposes of the spawners purchasable in game and from donating ?

1. Normal spawning which occurred before the release of spawners will not be effected. I would recommend you place them apart so you avoid the chunk limitation on the amount of animals.

2. Not necessarily. If you are efficient at breeding you can match that of a spawner and natural spawns combined with this allow you farm just as fast. There may be an increase in quantity of these resources, so the price may fall slightly depends on demand.

3.  It does not effect them in anyway.

4. The /spawners only offers a limited number of spawners and the donation page offers a wider range including wolves, ocelots, squids, mooshrooms etc. the difference between the spawners on the donation store that are also in the shop is.. well, nothing. Players who decide to support the server will instead use the donation methods and those who cannot support the server will use the /spawners shop function.

Server Announcements / Re: Spawners galore!
« on: 2 Jan 2015, 14:03:54 »
Yes, I can finally expand my wool business :D Although I wonder: Why 3 million for a spawner?

Spawners allow a constant supply of mobs in the location  it is placed, allowing you to always have mobs in that area. 3 million for a personal spawner is fair and 3 million for a town is nothing, if your residents band together and purchase one for the town its a very small price to pay.

Server Announcements / Spawners galore!
« on: 1 Jan 2015, 22:44:08 »

Hey Noobs,

We're pleased to announce that as of today spawners are back in Noobstown! - We know this has been requested numerous times since the launch of V6 and we're happy to finally bring them back.

How to purchase a spawner?
  • You can purchase a select number of spawners for in-game Nbz by typing /spawners
  • Alternatively you can visit the donation page and donate for spawners + exclusive donation only spawners

Animal cannot be changed after placement. Item cannot be picked up after placement.

Spawners are highly valued items. We hope players on the server will enjoy working towards the goal of obtaining one, for their town or personal chunks.

I'm spectrophage, very new to Minecraft and my children pointed the way to this town server.  Found me a place near the edge and now time for LOTS of resources to do some big building.  Guess I need to get familiar with the mines and my own chunks, lots of digging ahead. Glad to be a part of this online community, looking forward to the adventure.  cheers!

Welcome!

Nice to see more families joining the server. See you around Noobstown! :)

We apologize for these issues that have been ongoing since the Summer, we continued to chase the problem and have eventually come to resolution, thank you for your patience.

The lag/mass disconnections should no longer occur on Noobstown.

The connection address to the server has not changed.

Noobmas is here!

The Holiday Event of Noobmas is back once again for the 4th year running! ~ As always the 'Advent' event will run throughout the month from the 1st to the 25th, we've changed the way it's working this year and the entire system will run completely in-game.

How to take part?

Each day at 00:00 GMT you will be able to unlock the days gift, each chest will be labeled with the respective day. You must log online and unlock the chest each day, you cannot open these gifts if you miss a day. The prizes inside the chests will gradually increase as we move further and further to the 25th.

Noobmas Visits

Noobmas will be stopping by at the 10 largest TOWNS in Noobstown this year, handing out gifts to the community, everyone is welcome. The schedule will be posted later this month, the following towns eligible for Noobmas visits are:

- Windermere
- Ethereal
- Shangri-la
- Gallifrey
- Tortuga
- Skyside
- Olympus
- Giza
- Gaia
- Gotham

Finally, Noobmas will finish his visit at the spawn town; Noobstown.

Please dress your town appropriately (Xmas Theme). If you are a mayor and wish to remove your town from this list you can do so via PM.

Crackers!

You can now get Christmas crackers from doing loads of different things in-game! Just play normally and you'll eventually get some! Once you get a cracker simply click on a person you want to pull it with and then if they accept you'll be able to pull the cracker together! The winner of the pull wins a random prize!

Automated Snowball

Snowball will be returning this month as an automated permanent game in Noobstown. You can find the guide on Snowball here:

https://www.noobscraft.com/guides/how-to-play-'snowball'/

Website Gifting

We're also introducing a new feature in December which will allow you to gift presents via the website inventory. So if you're feeling extra generous this year, please send all your cookies to Fatnoob. Thank you!

Network Update

There is still an ongoing investigation into the network/lag issues on Noobstown, however, i'm pleased to inform you that we are getting closer to permanently solving the problem. The issue is directly effected by our DDoS protection which when routing is causing certain players with higher PING to lag or D/C, in some extreme cases causing the entire server to D/C or timeout. We want to let you know that we haven't given up on this problem and have been working to resolve the issue since day 1, thank you again for your continued patience and understanding.

Support / Re: Salvage Wrecked?
« on: 10 Nov 2014, 23:40:15 »
See, every time those who work their butt off to achieve something on this server get punished (because that is sure how it feels like) with nerfing, or restricting in one way or another, or raising the limit, or smiply like this, making it basically available to everybody.

Motivate me again why I play daily and do my best to do something positive?

Twisted, I am with you on this one, I spend half a million of hard earned noobs to get the resources to salvage, so I can be 'nice' and provide free salvage to others as a service from my town. And god knows how many resources I've used to have grind parties, paying for advertisements and donating stacks of diamonds and iron to others in the party to help them and us to get up.

Just to come back a week later to find it was all for damn nothing.

No matter how you sugar coat this, .. I feel like whatever we do with an effort is just ruined one way or the other.

We don't purposely spend our entire evenings, weekends, holidays and any free time we can possibly get to working on a server to punish our users, so please don't even suggest such a thing. First of all, we don't develop McMMO so whenever we are 'required' to update something, we will do it without question because the older version of McMMO does not function correctly or support the build we need to move Noobstown forward with. We apologize for the disturbance to your skills as I can clearly this has had an impact, we're doing our best to work with the new settings they've added and make the system fair again. Constructive feedback is always welcome rather than just telling us we're punishing our users or moaning in-game which will a) Not solve this issue b) Creates unnecessary drama and c) Is completely disrespectful.

I run this server for the community and the community alone, I don't play this server as a user; I enjoy making the experience and seeing people enjoy something that we've created together; as a whole. So please, let us work together and deal with these changes maturely. Feedback is always welcome.
