With the new update to Mcmmo this was a temporary solution whilst we looked into the new settings, we have hot fixed this today and the rates should be more reasonable/achievable.

What do you mean 'We've updated the server build' like as in to 1.8?
We're not on full 1.8 yet but there will be a post when that happens. Updated build simply means we are using the latest released compatible version for our plugins/server which generally includes bug fixes and performance/stability changes.

Hey all, We've updated the server plugins and updated a few things inside the server: - Range of plugins have been updated to better support our build version - McMMO Parties were all cleared as part of the updates - Adjusted '/kit food' timer - Floating Holographic text has been re-enabled - Halloween theme has been removed - Halloween drops and mobs have been removed - Changes to increase performance/addressing the lag spikes we've been experiencing. (Please give feedback if you see an improvement or if the issue is still occurring) - Reset mining world, the end and the nether - Removed Herobrine Mob Arena is coming! Our aim for November is to re-introduce Mob arena to the Noobstown community, we look forward to sharing the progress on this update at a later date in the month. Have you seen any suspicious behavior lately? Anything out of ordinary? Could it be... Noobween?!
Yes! it's finally back for another year..we've successfully updated the server to include our 'Noobween 2014' world events. You will now be able to collect Halloween candies on the server!
Candies can be gained by taking part in a range of activities including
- Digging
- Mining
- Fishing
- Combat
- Farming
- Woodcutting
Candies can be traded around spawn to our special Noobween villagers - These villagers trade at different rates so look around and be wise who you trade your delicious candies to!
We've also been noticing some strange transformation with certain mobs.. go and investigate!
Be sure to turn on your volume during the Noobween events for extra spookiness.
Noobween Events timetable will be posted shortly including the Noobween 2014 party date. We look forward to seeing you all on the server during our Noobween events.

I wouldn't blame you for closing shop before it's becoming to costly to just run something - but there's no reason for that just yet. We're still at the waiting game to find out what will happen with all this nonsense.
We're not closing, we'll ride it out. Cutting back one server (machine) has defiantly helped us feel more comfortable going into the unknown, still, we're looking forward to what Minecraft has to offer in the future and hope that things eventually do turn positive. Priority is always on keeping the community intact and players happy.

Yeah, Mojang owning Bukkit and (Craft)Bukkit getting DMCA .. I have no faith in it, to be honest.
Why would Mojang put *any* effort into 1.8 Bukkit API so people can make MC servers, when they have that stupid EULA and and introduced REALMS to make money. Tinfoil hat, it wouldn't surprise me if Mojang secretly enjoying that this is ruining good servers.
Well yeah, it's really sad and disappointing what Minecraft has become because of decision such as this and I don't think Microsoft are the company to traditionally care so much about community driven projects/community lead games. Minecraft was and still is a very special 'platform', but I fear the worst for what will develop over the rest of the year/next. Just creates a very unsettling atmosphere for most who have been around since the very beginning and is extremely creatively draining.

Either I don't quite understand the situation, or you're slightly misinformed perhaps?
To my understanding CraftBukkit is under DMCA, not the Bukkit API, which is still being distributed (but it seems nothing real is being done about it, AS IF Mojang is going to actually continue support for it, let alone Microsoft).
Additionally, Noobstown runs on Spigot, not CraftBukkit, though Spigot is a modification of CraftBukkit and also received a DMCA, Spigot is releasing binary patches that are outside of the DMCA problem.
Either way, Bukkit is (as we learned) owned by Mojang ; and now owned by Microsoft, who doesn't want multiplayer servers (in my opinion, I mean, their EULA issue and introducing Realms themselves), and lots of Bukkit staff when they learned about EULA/DMCA/Mojang (already owning them for 2 years under 'shut up about it' clause), Microsoft situation, they have stepped down.
And Spigot as well, both, do not show any sign of 1.8 being here any time soon. My personal prediction is that NT and many others will in 2015 switch to something like Sponge or alike, or what we have here, is what we have for a while to come, with some patches here and there.
Was referring to the fact there would be no real 1.8 update for a long time, Spigot is providing updates but they're only protocol. I'm also aware of Sponge/Glowstone spin offs that are in the works but either way, these platforms are going to take time to establish themselves and work for the community - Right now we're stand still in 1.7.10 content, which means we cannot create/update plugins for 1.8 content/features.

Bukkit is still under DMCA (Copyright take down), there won't be an update for a while unfortunately. Messy situation in the server community right now, we're just gonna have to hold on tight. Will let you all know as soon as we can update and start getting back on track with our own updates also!

Hey all, We've updated the server build and updated a few things inside the server: - Build updated should increase performance and other bugs you've been seeing since we allowed 1.8 connections - Horses are back - Mining, Nether and End have all been reset - Spawn has been transformed into our Noobsween theme (Spooky  ) - Livemap is back - Summoned Herobrine We're still working on resuming all plugins (Such as pets) and working on other bugs that have been brought to our attention since 1.8. Hey all,
In light of recent events, we have decided that we will be merging both of our servers onto one machine in the coming weeks/months. This is to both save resources and cut down on costs. The future of Minecraft is very unpredictable at the moment, wasting resources and adding extra costs to running the servers will not benefit the players who enjoy our servers long term.
What will this mean?
From a player perspective, very little. We'll be moving the Apocalypse files over to our New York machine (Noobstown) which means both of the servers will be now located in USA. The decision to move both servers to the US machine will be most beneficial for the majority of players that connect to our servers and as a result, will yield better game play experience inside the game.
Will this cause lag?
No, the New York machine is very powerful and has plenty of space. We have very little concerns of any impact it will have on performance as we currently use very little of our machine on Noobstown alone.
Connection info change?
No, you will still be able to connect to each server using the normal connection info.
More information will be released once we have a set date the merge will be carried out. The two servers will be offline during the merge.
Future
As we continue to work on both Noobstown v6 and Apocalypse 2.0 there will always be room for expansion of the network in the future. As this is a difficult and worrying time in the Minecraft community the decision has been made to better safeguard our servers/community/friends we've made over these 4 years of running servers. Thank you once again to everyone who has supported us through thick and thin, we hope to continue being able to provide you all with fun experience for years to come.

Hey all,
We've successfully updated to a protocol version of 1.8 (Meaning we are now able to allow 1.8 client to connect to Noobstown). 1.8 features and information will come when the full version is available, until then enjoy all of the client-side features 1.8 brings (New skins etc.) *You can still connect with a 1.7 client*
More information regarding 1.8 features and Noobstown related updates will be posted later this month. The Mining world will be reset when 1.8 is available to ensure all the new features/blocks are in place when you come online. If for whatever reason we are not able to receive an update for 1.8 in a reasonable time frame the mining world will be updated as per usual with a 1.7 seed.
UPDATE: We are aware of problems with the live map and pets in this updated version, once we transition to a full 1.8 version we will hopefully fix these issues.

Back ye old 2009, I created the account "Waterworth". Due to many failed attempts at getting James interested in the game, I gave him the account 'Waterworth' to try it out for himself. As he didn't feel it was worth the money. *Cough*  . Long_cat's original account name was Noobsbeard hence now my new account involving the name Noob. Therefore out of pure randomness "Fatnoob" was born. Few days later a little server by the name of 'Noobstown' was formed, in which us 3 Noobs begun to build our own little town; Noob's Town. Who knew 5 years later we'd be sharing that town with 40,000 registered users? and up toward half a million accounts connected throughout our versions.

Hello! Most of you probably don't know me, but this server is the root of my minecraft experience so far. This was the VERY first server I've been to when I started my minecraft account. A smile is on my face while you're reading this. I was scrolling through my email and found a Noobscraft notification. I am very excited to be playing with this server again.
