Update: Arrived at New York safe and sound!Hey all, I am pleased to announce Version 6.0 will finally open on the 7th of February at 9pm GMT ( What is it in my timezone?). I and other members of the team and thankful that the project is finally coming to a close, after a series of bad luck and hours upon hours of developing/planning headaches. Just recently we've been having issues with our network in Chicago and are now forced to make the move to New York, this will happen on either the 29th/30th next week. So if you live near/in New York you are now even closer to the machine; Yay! Now for the important information: Release Info! What's happening on release day?On the night of the release, we'll be opening the server three hours earlier for VIP and Veteran members. These players will be auto-whitelisted and will be able to connect when the countdown hits (00 | 00 | 00 | 00). After this time a post will be created in which we will be white listing members manually, the reason for this is that due to both technical and stability issues we think the best outcome of a stable and safe start to the version would be to keep the influx of players completely under control. This means if you are not VIP/Veteran YOU will not be white listed automatically and will have to request access on the post, we will only be accepting members that played in V5 for the first week and will be white listing EVERYONE that makes a reply (no application required). Players will be white listed in intervals and white listing may/will slow down depending on issues that occur or maintenance going on. What to expect within the first 3 hours:- Unexpected issues - Bugs, Glitches, Crashes - Random/Unannounced maintenance's/hot fix What to expect within the first week- Unexpected issues - Bugs, Glitches, Crashes - Announced frequent/random maintenance's/hotfix Will the donation shop be live on release?Yes, the donation shop will be live on release, however, you will only be able to purchase VIP upgrades/lifetime for the first week. After the period of the BETA week, we'll start adding more packages for the donation system, reason being is that issue will occur within the first week and we don't want to create more issues around donation gifts being lost etc. If I buy VIP will I have access to the early 3 hours?Yes, you can buy VIP and be auto-whitelisted into the first three hours/BETA Week. CouponsDonation coupons will be sent out throughout the first week at random intervals, if you are still waiting on receiving coupons from the points convert, please be patient. You will receive them eventually! GuidesDuring the days leading up to the release guides will be posted about certain features of the server, those being for example: the Chunk system/Auction etc.

Hey all, Just wanted to quickly mention how we are sorry that the version has took so long, we have been unfortunate in timing with Minecraft updates and with real life events, starting back at Uni etc. As always, I do need to mention that we do this in our free time as a hobby and we do appreciate you all and we will continue to battle on to release the version. We are getting towards a good stage now, so, expect a release date some time real 'soon' I know I've overused that word but it is true this time . I also want to mention that not once have we stopped paying for the server, each month the server has been down for, we had to pay the bill. So please, we haven't been putting off the release for no reason, it was simply a series of unfortunate events.

What is a Wilderness plot?
All building in version 6.0 will be in a protection environment, this way we can offer every single one of our community members 99.9% grief protection. When entering the wilderness world for the first time you'll simply type a command which will set your home block, you can type this anywhere out of the spawn region. One protected chunk is 16x16.
Each member will be given 10 Free Chunks of protection, and will be able to buy more as you please. The price for chunks will spiral upwards in price depending on the amount of chunks yo have. This means, the more land you wish to gain the higher the cost will amount. How will you know where your block starts and ends? Is there something visually to represent your chunk/s?
You will be notified when walking onto the chunk, there will also be a visual representation in the form of an effect of sorts. (Not confirmed) we will also be looking into a livemap overlay in the future, to show the exact borders and area coverage of someones land.

Post locked.
I think the post has gone far overboard and it is turning into a brawl. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I do respect that, I do listen to the community, but never one person; everyone. When I plan, prepare or create something I will think about the community as a whole, not the needs or wants of one person. Throughout the process of v6 I have shared numerous threads, videos, images and general information about what we are providing, the direction we are taking and completely opening the version to feedback and suggestions. We've tried to be responsive, reassure and take into account what the community is asking for and that is what we have done. If you personally don't like one small factor of the server, there are plenty of other positives to keep playing.
This community was built on friendship and happiness. For the past three years I've come across some of the most dedicated, friendly and heart warming players that I've ever met on any game and I completely appreciate the needs and wants of our players. Whilst we are all in a tense environment of 'wait' and just general sickness of the down time, we shouldn't allow that to get between the memories we've shared as a community and how we are as people and players in the game.
I hope v6 will continue to provide that happiness and the platform for many memories and friendships to built well into the future. So, let's just enjoy Minecraft and have a good time on ye old Noobstown.
Thank you all,

Is this not the 3D you were referring to?

Yes, that's it, but the resolution and navigation are pretty poor. It was suppressed exactly like I said it might be. I have seen it previously with the 3D as the default.
Yes, the reason for the 3D not being default was that it hadn't completely rendered at the time of posting the article. It is not completely high-res as it is simply a preview, we will take high res snap shot every month to update the map and builds people have made.

Yeah... welll, sorry if I can't see the 3D world on a 2D map.
All I've seen (and referred to as "flat land") were clearly manmade circles of trees/grass around plains and equally manmade rivers, together with the statement "consider building a town on a river".
You can see the 3D view. If you read the original post without being instantly negative and judgmental, you might have found the information about the 3D rendering. I would have preferred players to have a reserved judgement until actually physically experiencing the world, placing a damper or negative attitude around something you haven't physically interacted with in-game is quite annoying and doesn't help the community. This world has taken a lot of work and creating a false judgement of a world based on a top-down map view, is simply irritating. "Feels like for some reasons the admins thought that no one wanted to build a mountain village, a lake district or anything different from a featureless place with houses." This being most notable. I've ran the server for 2, almost 3 years and I am fully aware what most town owners like to do and how most towns are expanded, the world was thought and created upon those experiences. Whilst I understand no two people are the same creating a negative outlook on our world is not helping the community, nor being positive about 'town life'. That is all I have to say on the matter, I know you probably meant no harm in your comments but when you've put as many hours into this project as I, I do find picking on a world based upon the view of a live map annoying.

I to feel that the worlds look quit artificial. As you might know I am a lover of the wild, would have also preferred it to look wild. Walking around in it might give a different perspective, from above it looks a bit 'disneyland' to me. But thats the eye in the sky view, from down below I suspect that feeling will fade.
It is very normal in game, I can assure you. I understand how the map, may look flashy or simply jam packed full of different colour and shapes, when traditionally the world would be a lot more random and mixed. Try the 3d view option and check out some areas. You'll still probably notice the surreal 'look' to the world of it being quite fantasy etc. but that's just because you are looking from a perspective which is not view able in-game.

Yeah... welll, sorry if I can't see the 3D world on a 2D map. Your not alone Darkwings, I can't either. Dynamap does have a feature where you can "see" the world in a quasi-perspective view whereby you can view it and move around at an angle above the surface. This allows you to view the map in virtual 3D as you can see elevations as well. Apparently, this is suppressed, not included, or takes up too much data space for it to be shown here. It's pretty amazing, if any of you have ever seen it.
from above it looks a bit 'disneyland' to me. Whoa, that is freaky Dope, Disneyland was the analogy in my mind also. lol.
Is this not the 3D you were referring to?

Maybe it's because i can't view the map in 3D yet, but all four of my favorite 1.7 biomes don't seem to be present. Roofed Forest (Black Forest), Mesa (Bryce), Ice Plains Spikes, and Flower Forest. I might be missing something though. Also, would it be possible to add a smaller alternate wilderness map that has been generated by a random minecraft seed?
My first impression with the Town World was "this is clearly not the default terrain generation". Seems to me all the area around spawn is carefully manifactured, with clearly visible circles of trees/rough terrain around flattened land.
I'd rather have a natural looking land that I could _choose_ to flatten to build a town and a wilderness world that is truly wild. Yes, that was exactly my point. If the land has been manufactured and features are repeated throughout (like islands), it feels like it has already been explored and crafted for me. I'd rather to do that myself. That's why I asked if an alternate wilderness map could be generated from a truly random looking minecraft seed. I also was hoping for some of those biomes I listed. The 1.7 seeds are amazing.
We want to do something different with the server and offer a unique experience with the landscape, not just what Minecraft already offers and can be generated within a click of a button. The mining world will be normal gen, but that of course will be reset monthly.

Feels like for some reasons the admins thought that no one wanted to build a mountain village, a lake district or anything different from a featureless place with houses. Flattening the terrain takes hours, agreed, but crafting mountains, forests and lakes takes even more...
"Feels like for some reasons the admins thought that no one wanted to build a mountain village, a lake district or anything different from a featureless place with houses." Hmm, odd.. Yes, there is a lot of flatland, but that doesn't mean you have to use it. The purpose of the flat land is that it flows into beautiful places like the above, its is up to the town to use that as their backdrop or to build on the more rough terrain. There is a perfect blend of both rough and flat terrain. Our intentions weren't to see boring towns, we put our very best into the creation of the world with intentions of all town makers. The area around spawn was cut out, because it needed to be quite a large area for the spawn to be implanted in + area for more expansion in the future. The whole circle around spawn and beyond will be out-of-bounds for all towns, it is 'spawn' land. Thanks for your kind words though, we do appreciate them. I wouldn't say anything else until you've had a good look around, because the world is not one bit 'flat' and 'dull' at all. All of these pictures were taken from the town world.

At which coordinates will we spawn in the wilderness? 0,65,0?
Close enough, it'll be more central to the large open plains we mapped for the spawn/chunky tutorial zone. -504 65 -416

Oh wow that is beautiful...Gah you've got me all excited!
Took a few more top down views but the place is far too big to render in one view. Much exploration to be done!

Hey guys, After hours upon hours of uploading, the wild world is finally ready for preview! ~ The current world is being rendered on the live map. I've set the default load map to the Wilderness, if you want to check the 'Town' world again, simply open the menu on the right of the map and select 'world'. Again, feel free to look around and pick your spot! http://www.noobscraft.com/map/ <- Click the link to see our Wild world. Some elements may be currently rendering, the 3d viewing functions will take longer to update. 3D elements can be viewed on the right hand menu What is the wild world? The Wilderness world is an area for all players on the server to live privately or with a close knit group of friends, the world is completely ran on our brand new chunk based protection system 'Chunky' which allows for personal chunk by chunk protection. The Wilderness world was designed to be feature rich, full of imagination and incredible scenery. We wanted every small area and each small detail to be personal to the player that lives there. Every single corner you turn you will find something new, exciting and inspiring. We've jam packed the entire world with crazy, funky and fun biomes and we cannot wait for you all to begin your journey out into the wild. Time to start planning your personal home, because we're planning ours! Noobscraft Team,

Mr. Fatnoob, I OMGUFB am interested in your proposal of renting out the theatre. Whats your policy on fire and fireworks?
The policy is: fire as many into the roof as possible; in result of a fire call the noobrigade.

We discussed ways to potential only limit the piston of the player which is causing them to fire too fast, which wouldn't effect everyone with the delay. This may not be live on release but something we'll be actively looking into over the course of the version. Ideally we'd like the best experience possible, but due to dupes via the pistons; we would much prefer a fair and stable economy.

Uploading Wilderness world, should be online for preview around midday US (Eastern).

When might the wilderness world preview be coming.
The Wilderness preview will most likely be live tomorrow, the problem is uploading the world to the server itself which takes a full day; the world is very big.

This looks amazing, Joe, and I can't wait to see how the Wilderness world will compare. I'm also excited to see what biome Twisted will choose and then how the town will span out across the land. I'll probably end up touring this world a lot just to see how each town uses the land they chose.
Can't wait for V6 to finally arrive, and I might be getting 2-3 IRL friends to join when it does.
Thanks so much, Joe and admins!

Thank you, we recommend that you build near a river.. as you can see, we expanded the rivers to cover a mass amount of land. This is a great way to travel between towns, or even travel between one half of your town to another. River towns ftw

Hey guys, Today I'm going to share with you the full scale live-map preview of our Town (Spawn) world, this world was custom crafted with Towns in mind from the large scale biomes, to the highest mountains our blood, sweat and tears have gone into creating the most easy-building world possible for the most EXPANSIVE town experience. So, have a look around... pin point a spot and get your last minute planning sorted, because a whole bunch of Noobs are coming to.. town? http://www.noobscraft.com/map/ <- Click the link to see our Town world. Some elements may be currently rendering, the 3d viewing functions will take longer to update. What is the town (main) world? The main world is the world which our spawn is located, and also the home of all of our Towns here on Noobstown. This world will enable you to form towns, expand them and build a community within a community! No longer shall you feel the pain of having to trample a small wilderness house, or to feel suffocated by the lack of space. The Town world offers thousands of chunks of space at your finger tips, the biomes have been designed to offer as much flat-land space as possible, reducing all the clearing work for setting up a town. This means, you can jump right in and start building an empire without having to touch the landscape; it's literally build for towns! We hope you all enjoy this preview, and we can't wait to see buildings forming on our landscape. The Wilderness world will be added to the livemap shortly, which is a little more funky and split up (Biome wise); a world built for thousands to share and a place to feel secluded in your own little paradise. Adding the last minute touches, and preparing the version.. Noobscraft staff ~
